Which is your favourite nation

I used to play Babylon a lot since I loved science, but now I have been trying the other victories.

Culture I like France or Aztecs. I love being able to fight for culture especially with getting Honor first for double culture for Monty. Also Polynesia was insane with an archipelago map.

Domination my favorites are Mongols, China and Japan. The Keshik hit and run combo seems so OP for Genghis. :D

I don't really ever go for diplomatic. The first time I got it was by accident.

egypt... income plus income plus ... money money money... XD

If you want to make money, you should consider Inca or Arabia instead of Egypt. Burial Tomb's lack of maintenance cost is barely an income plus.

Also, Songhai if you want to play aggressively - Barbarians can bring in a lot of cash.

Yea I think we all agree Babylon is the most powerful civ in game... but it gets boring playing on Super Mode. In multiplayer I always take Babylon out because of its power but I find mostly only noobs use Babylon because its just too good. And noobs don't know how to use it to effectively.

It gets annoying though with a good player and Babylon. People don't like the feeling of a player getting obscene advantages (I mean its why we play multiplayer instead of singleplayer) and will often tag team a powerful Babylon.

also Persia. you can consistently stay in a golden age with them if you get and/or time the appropriate wonders/policies. My largest non-military gpt was in a Persia game (on Emperor). It was totally fun to see +80-100 hpt and 300+ gpt in the same game. I easily could have bought my diplo votes if i hadnt gone science.

Stumbled across a "Let's Play Civ V" game on YouTube - the guy was playing Persia, and in a golden age had 150 or so gpt, about twice what I'll usually have in a GA. But he mentioned in passing that he'd once had a reserve of about 50,000 gold as Songhai. It does add up - not only do Songhai get the barbarian bonus, and a bonus for cities (assisted by having the game's only cavalry unit that doesn't suffer a penalty against cities), but their temple equivalent has no maintenance cost, which is a relatively minor bonus on its own but, when considered in the context of an empire that already gets free gold in abundance and is likely to have a large empire (and so lots of gold-producing buildings), it certainly doesn't hurt.

I think perhaps this (and Songhai generally) is overlooked because they're pigeonholed as a domination civ, and aren't the best for it - their UU is only better than the knight against cities, they don't have anything that makes them especially effective against enemy units. I think they're better seen as one of several approaches to being an ecomomic powerhouse - Persia does it through happiness, Arabia through trade, Songhai through conquest. But their abilities complement each other very nicely when it comes to raking in the cash - bonus for capturing cities combined with a UU with a bonus vs. cities. Culture building with no maintenance cost (and extra culture - and, after all, there are lots of policies that can be used to increase cash flow further still).

mandekalu cav are better than knights but i agree they arent really difference makers. i agree songhai are underrated in the gold category. ive only briefly played them a few times and their cav uu is underwhelming in comparison. ive only gotten one dom vic with them and a failed culture vic.

Lastly played GOTY Edition with Koreaaaa included
Was rather funny after some long time to play again

China's Chu-Ko-Nu are certainly something. If you've spammed a large pool of them at the start of Renaissance and beeline all the way to rifles waaaaaaay before everyone else, well, God help everyone else on your continent lol

Upgrade chu-ko-nu to rifles don't double attack, do they?

It would be nice to roll a Songhai with Egypt as a next door neighbor.
