So I was searching through the forum for mayan leaders and I was bit disappointed when I found out there was no clear answer. I decided to hold a poll to see which Mayan leader should make it in Civ 6. Thanks for voting
I originally thought bringing back Pacal would be good, but then I thought about giving Lady Six Sky a chance. I feel like most Maya leaders would play similar to each other, so for variety sake I went with her.
Yuk'noom the Great is another excellent, "badass" option. I would prefer Lady Six Sky however, as she was accomplished and deemed the greatest of the Mayan queens.
We've had Pacal in almost every game where the Mayans appeared as a civ, so I'm a bit tired of him (and frankly he's overly known for his coffin rather than his specific, impressive accomplishments).
Why not another one? Yuk'noom and Lady Six Sky are both quite impressive alternates. Pacal is the most famous Mayan king but largely due to his burial (though his accomplishments in architecture and military are impressive too).
I'm voting for Lady Six Sky. I think continental America could use a female leader, as so far all of them have been male, and Lady Six Sky is a very impressive female leader.
I decided to vote for Yuk'noom (under Other) and Lady Six Sky since I don't think it would be unreasonable to expect 2 leaders for them like the Greeks. I wouldn't mind seeing Pacal again but Yuk'noom and Lady Six Sky look like fun new choices. I guess I shouldn't be surprised that the Mayans had several leaders with big personalities!
Not adding the Maya while considering the Aztecs staples to the franchise is puzzling from any historian's perspective. The Maya are significantly more interesting than the Aztecs. (same reason why I'm annoyed that Assyria keep getting the shaft over the likes of Babylon and Sumeria :-/)
I don't see the need to put Pacal as the Mayan leader for the 3rd time in a row in Civ. How differently can they portray him from his previous two appearances? By making him an old man? It's time for someone new. And this is the ideal Civ from the Americas for a female leader.
I also don't think Lady Six Sky would be a controversial choice. Most casuals don't know *that* much about the Maya (meaning there isn't going to be backlash for selecting a woman over a "worthier" male leader) and kick-ass female leaders are something nearly everyone likes. (note that Gorgo received barely any backlash despite being by far the most obscure leader pick in this iteration.)

Now Gorgo I do find a doubtful leader but she wasn't put in to appease feminists, she was put in as a sop to a bad film.
I knew nothing about Lady Six Sky before this discussion but the evidence (especially the monument showing her standing over a trampled captive) suggests she was no figurehead but a real leader.
Out of curiosity, while we're on this topic, has Lady Six Sky's name not been deciphered or something yet? Lady Six Sky kinda sorta definitely stands out next to Yuk'noom, Pacal, B'alaj Chan K'awiil, etc.
