Why on God's green earth are brown bears called ursus arctos. That should be the name of the polar bear.

And have it have lasted through until today rather than simply bringing it back.

With their size they were perfect for *domesticating, they could help on the farm and have made pre gunpowder war much more interesting.


I tried modding some in for a fantasy setting Medieval total war 2 mod. But lacked teh skillz.


* As oppose to other modern elephants that are captured and then trained because they are two expensive to care for as babies.

Because "arctos" is the Greek word for bear. (άρκτος) It literally means "bear bear"

There is a very small possibility that the thylacine may be resurrected one day. Scientists are trying to map the genome from recent museum specimens with the optimistic hope that the organism may eventually be resurrected!!
