Unfortunately for Africa we'll only have 7 (I'm including Arabia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Kongo, Mali, Nubia, Zulu) and it wouldn't be enough for the standard 8 unless we get another.
The S-E Asia map only has 7 or 8 playable Civs, and you could feasibly include Phoenicia/Persia/Ottomans in an African map by stretching it a little to the east (the same is done with the European map after all).

why you include Araba and not Phoenicia? Much of their lands are in northern Africa. Heck today's Tunisia even has some of its city.
I guess it would depend on how far up an African map would go up into the Middle East, but I'd definitely be okay with it.
Arabia's capital is Cairo which is where they already start on a TSL map in Africa. Phoenicia starts around modern day Lebanon even though they colonized much of Northern Africa. That's why I originally didn't include Phoenicia. If the Civ was Carthage and they started in present-day Tunisia I would have.

The East Asia does have exactly 8 right now, 9 if you want both leaders of India playable. Yes I guess Phoenicia could be a possibility depending on the map. In fact I would definitely take that to make an Africa map playable.

To the possibility of new units, the road map on Twitter (https://twitter.com/CivGame/status/1264951510741291009/photo/1) just says "More New Content" for each NFP update after this, which seems like a place holder for "we haven't finalized what's in this yet". Considering they said they'd be listening to feedback throughout the year, maybe if we speak up about wanting some of those general units gaps filled, ones that have been in previous games(trebuchet, long swordsmen, riflemen, etc.) , they'll consider it. Hey @FXS_MisterKevin !

Regarding Modes, I have a hard time looking forward to something without knowing what it entails. I'm 50/50 about the modes we know, so I have a hard time mustering a positive attitude towards unknown modes. Give me a Corporations mode or Vassalage mode and I will begin to be more optimistic about modes. But I always appreciate new civs, new wonders, new infrastructure, and new city-states.

I judge it by number of cities in the continent. Most of Arabia's cities are in Asia (middle east) while most of phoenicia is in the Northern Africa.

I'd say New Civs > Game Modes > Wonders

but then again I just want to hear new Civ music.

As I said earlier it would be fine if they included part of the Arabian peninsula/Levant on the map of Africa to get Phoenicia playable, so we could also get a proper Africa/TSL Africa map, because that would be where they start. :)

And I'd have to guess that if Arabia had a second leader, his capital would be based in, you know, Arabia. ;)

Civs, but modes are very close second to me. Secret societies...honestly is a bit too fantasy for me (I lost it at vampires) however I imagine they could be easily moded along the lines of: "historical secret societies" and..maybe change the vampires for the Order of the dragon for example?

I'm looking forward as well to game modes that include corporations, vassalage, colonies, crusades, etc...hopefully with less fantasy elements in.

Yeah, saladin was a weird time when Egypt was considered part of Arabic world.
It still is part of the overall Arabian world. It's not confined only to the Arabian Peninsula.

That's pretty much what it looks like it's supposed to represent, just not in name.

I'm pretty sure all of the next ones will not have any fantasy elements at least that's what I've heard.

I have to be honest, at this moment New Game Modes is winning (16/39%) and that shocks me. I was not expecting that. Seeing New Civs almost tied for top makes sense. In my head, I assumed it would be Civs>District>Leader>Wonders.

This is obviously a very small sample size so far, but I am surprised. Not surprised about being in the minority about new maps though. I'm one of the ones who bought the map pack for V and would gladly buy another all map script DLC.

I am also a little surprised that no one has mentioned city states yet either, it seems to me that dlc city states are pretty good and usually offer interesting bonuses.
Game modes should be > all because shaking up core gameplay is far more interesting than another civ which I may or may not play and may or may not encounter.
Honestly I'm baffled by how much importance this forum places on the civs over everything else.

I just changed my vote from Civs to Game Modes. While the first Game Mode was disappointing, this one is worth at least 4 playthroughs for me ... whereas one new Civ I might play only once (and it has minimal impact as an opponent).

Game content: new district (I guess some related to health rather than espionage) and new great people

maybe it could be a new class .. great explorer.. and it does fit Portugal (Age of Discoveries and all..) ... this would be a new class and even a rework of the existing ones.. GP like Marco Polo or Magellan would fit in great explorer and should need a proper replacement

I mean I get it, Its just that, the castle is really coool, but to add bats flying around and then the vampire on top of it? I wouldn't mind just having an "impaler" unit instead, maybe not pg enough?

ugh, I guess It'll take some time getting used to

New civs and modes are good, but the game really does need more great peeps, so that's where my vote went.

I wonder if the reason for no(!) one voting so far for the new CSs is related to the common AI behaviour of killing them always in no time :D

I voted for new civs, as a plurality of people did. However, everything on the list looks good! No one has voted for the new city-states yet, but I am looking forward to those too.

I'm really interested to see the next District + 2 Buildings.

I'm really hoping it's another Purple District. Seems to me that Three Purple Districts is about right.

My guess is that the next District will be something to do with Colonial Cities, e.g. you could have a Colonial Administration District, with maybe a Governors' Residence and Commonwealth Office as Buildings (or alternatively Trading House). They'd maybe let you concentrate yields in the City with the CAD based on e.g. Banks and Shipyards on Foreign Continents, Improve Loyalty in Colonial Cities and / or Gain Diplo Favour from how many Continents you've settled.

I honestly just can't get excited about more City States. I mean, I really like City States as a mechanic. But I think we've reached Peak City State Suzerain Abilities.

I went with new civs. What I would really like to see though, is gameplay changes addressing some of my main complaints about the game, such as tall cities being too weak and game systems being poorly implemented without much interaction between them. I don't think this is forthcoming, though, so the biggest hope for gameplay changes is through civilization abilities.

I have enjoyed the content of NFP so far. Gran Colombia is not really my cup of tea, but both the Maya and Ethiopia were interesting to me. I also really liked Secret Societies, and will probably keep that box ticked in the foreseeable future.
