While We Wait: Part 2

But Liverpool, Leeds, Birmingham and the Tyneside conurbation (at least in the 1930s without a WWI) should be equal to those cities; Liverpool having 6 times the population of San Diego at this point in time - it's just he's developing silly places :).
I have my reasons.
Frankly Uk and germany should have, and are able to support a lot more ECs in the homelands than they do now - its just a constraint of the rules that a city cannot be more than 1 EC: NYC and London should be producing at least 4-5 a piece.
The (inner) New York Metro Area actually does have two eco centers. I remember speifically complaining about it. Even though I disagreed with the excuse, especially considering that London should have the same, I dropped the issue.
Ah yeah, surely he would. MjM doesn't get ruffled over commentary and hold or grudge over being called undependable or lazy or anything and proceed to moan about it like some moody teenager at every opportunity thereafter, that'd be below him.
Now now Symph, let's not be rude. ;)
Excuse me sir, but that's an improper term for it, unless the thing being exploited was you and you were complicit in it since I asked you every one of those prices and you were the who gave all of them to me. :p
Aha! I knew something was amiss!
And about half of those appear to be developed to boot.
Actually, no, none of those particular cities are.
Nobody, yourself included, has yet developed something more advanced, and it's rather too late to change things now in this particular instance.
Actually, that is just the system I use for special cities when I (rather unsuccessfully) mod. Basically, on occasion, a city deserves to yield more eco than the other cities do, and a Mod should take that in consideration. It's called Mod discretion, and you've got to love it.

Does anyone else find it incredibly annoying when Mods tell you exactly how they want you to lay organise your orders? For BirdNES I can understand it, as the rules are so very different from other NESes, but in general I find it just plain annoying. I mean, I have my own style of orders, as does everyone else in the NESing community I assume, and I don't want to have to change that style completely.

Then dont change your order style.

Exactly; if a mod doesn't complain about yours in particular, then you probably don't need to change it. Those suggestions are probably for people newer to NESing--at least, that's how I read them.

Does it bother you if I ask people to just write simple orders? You know, people say what their goals are, suggest some ideas, maybe some tactics?

I don't care about style, but long orders really slow me down.

I like it when mods write out how they want me to structure my orders. I have no problem using different styles for different NESes, and it certainly helps communication to get across more efficiently. Annoying? Absolutely not.

I can't write long order, when I do write long orders its mostly rambling.

Edit: well that was a lie, I just read some old orders and they are very long to what im used too. musta been really motivated.

That doesn't bother me. All you are asking for is short orders, you are not aksing for people to completely overhaul their style.

I ask for a specific form because having structured orders improves my updates, speeds up the writing (If you can believe it) and keeps me from missing stat related items. Having to search long orders for spending or building items is terribly time consuming and I am prone to missing them. I am sorry it is so annoying.

Yeah, I have one consistent order style for every NES.

Spoiler Penguin Orders :
Economy
1 Point to building new transdimensional spaceships.
2 Points to building new infantry.

Domestic
Begin random identity checks on citizens. I want no more of this:
penguins.jpg

Expand my operations to the Gliese system.

Military
Prepare my battlefleet and warp it into hedgehog space. There will be no warning, but I want to fire a large black hole at the moon of their homeworld as a display, then demand tribute.

Watch out for them trying to ram us with their spiky ships.

Stats
Penguinskan Imperium/Lord_Iggy
Economy: Colossal +3
Army: 60 000 000 000 Infantry, 40 000 000 Armoured, 200 000 000 Mechs
Navy: 8 Icetitan Class Cruisers (UU), 400 Carriers, 800 000 Fighter Craft
Projects: LINES- De-noobs Lord_Iggy, gives the ability to magically destroy one world with the Hawaiian Empire, several well-placed warp gates, and the flying city of Timbuktu ; LINESII- Consumes all spare time, improves community standing- (27/?)
Background: Born from a spark in Lord_Iggy's mind during grade seven, the penguins seek to someday rule the multiverse- but they'll probably keep everyone else around anyway, because if they killed them all it would damage most of the potential story material.

I have similar order style as Iggy.

I try to make sure my domestic and military orders are bulleted or numbered. Spending is always seperate with stats included in a spoiler at top.

When I was modding I enjoyed orders in this style much easier to read.

As I said Bird, I do not mind it in BirdNES as the rules are so out of the norm. But I have Moded before, and with a very large number of players, and I must say that making everyone follow the same format would not have spead the update process up enough to make it worthwhile.

My order style is very similar to Iggy and Farow's. Below is my basic format, which can change significantly from turn to turn depending on what I am doing. I put the different sections in spoilers so as to make it easier to read for the mod.

Spoiler Orders Format :

Any OOC comments here. Any other introductory comments also go here.

Spoiler Spending :

Spending goes here. If necessary I may or may not give a breakdown of how many eco I have to spend at the top here.
  1. Point 1
  2. Point 2
  3. Point 3 (etc.)
Spoiler Domestic :

All domestic policy policy goes here, organised in numbered points as above.

Spoiler Project :

If I am starting a project, I put the name, description (mine tend to be a little lengthy), and benefits here.

Spoiler Foreign - Non-Military :

All foreign policy that is not related to wars and whatnot goes here (treaties, land transfers, economic gifts, etc.). This is organised in numbered points (see above).

Spoiler Foreign - Military :

All military policy goes here, organised in numbered points as above.

Spoiler Stats :

Stats go here. I like having them at the bottom so that I can focus on whatever I am writing in the actual orders at the top while still having the stats within easy access.

Is this cause of what I said? I just think Symphony D's style is best. Thats what I use and thats what everyone should use.

For some reason I dislike overuse of spoilers; no offense, Isry. However, I work well with almost any order set--limitations are that they must be in English, and they must have spaces and paragraphs. Punctuation is preferable. Once I decipher the orders and have done the domestic stat changes, I just remember what they said, and figure the rest out on my own, only checking back for clarification. Thus, as long as the message gets across, I really don't mind the order style.

If people post the basics first, then get into specifics, I don't mind long orders. I'll just pay less attention to the fine details, as they slow me down dramatically.

I'm warning you, don't mess with the Hawaiian Empire...

You'll need to get the permission of the Vegetable Overlords first. :p

So if I ever join a NES you mod, I can't write my orders in Latin like I usually do? Bummer.

If I'm in a war, I write my orders with spoilers like Isry's, with more specific categories. I also tend to make any propaganda thingos appendicies, and reference them in the part of the orders pertaining, so that they can be read later if need be. Mostly I just ramble, though, so the categories are fairly meaningless.

It partially is because of what you said. You were the third person recently to do that, and I finally got annoyed enough to bring it up. And personally, I don't particularly like Symph's orders style. I admit that they have some benefits, and I have adapted my orders somewhat to try and incorporate those benefits. However, they tend to be too scientific/mathematical and impersonal for my tastes. If you like to use them, then use them, but I find it extremely annoying for you to tell people that they should all abandon the style that works best for them and adopt someone else's.
