While We Wait: Part 2

I actually encouraged him to start a NES as he said he would wait to get another month or two of experience first. When people come here out of nowhere and the first thing they do is try and start a NES before even playing one, that is a problem. If people get even a couple months of experience first, then G-d bless.

He already has experience and for christ's sake just type God.

So why have a NES-forum under CIV3, then? Instead of somewhere else where it might fit better?
We've been over this about three times. It's here because here is where it happened to start, and we have no real reason to move at present, nor can we agree exactly on where to move, or when.

In addition, by and large most of us distrust the OT section, and we would essentially need our own subforum there as our volume of threads would basically swamp, say, All Other Games or Forum Games, and there's a general perception hardly anybody ever wanders in there anyway. Such a request is unlikely to be granted. There's the additional problem that our present moderators are somewhat more used to our behavior than newer mods might be, thus making such a transition difficult from an administrative standpoint to boot. It'd be a lot of work, basically, for not much guaranteed benefit, if any.

NES originated as a mutation of Civ 3 stories. The very first NESes were based entirely on Civ 3 with only Civ 3 nations. Thus, when the NESing community first got its own forum it was placed as a subforum of the Civ 3 Stories forum.

My point is is that there is a forum for NESes. Even more importantly, it is a forum with a very unique community and sub culture. New people are always welcome, but by moving NESes away from the NES forum you degrade the foundation upon which mdoern NESing is built. However, this is all irrelavent as the CFC rules are explicit that there are subforums for a reason and that all threads belong in the appropriate subforum.

How much? I was under the impression he only joined a month or less ago. Maybe I am wrong, I have been absent for a long time.

And please, respect my faith. I take the Lord's Name and the associated restrictions very seriously, much more seriously than someone without a Jewish background would probably (not definately) know from their own experience.

I think Abaddon's plan is a great one, start a NES over there and move it over here once the interested parties have been lured in. No need to bash him for it.

I'll admit that it is a rather creative way to draw in new blood, I just oppose mainly for the facts that: a) it is agains CFC rules and b) it goes a bit too close to disemination of the NES forum for my tastes.

It is a very creative way and I'm sure that the Mods will forgive him and when he wants to, bring it over here. :hatsoff: Abaddon.

Seconded. When dealing with made up religion I will type gods. But for religious purposes I will not write anything other than g-d/G-d, much like in hebrew I would not write anything but yy or h'.

Exactly, although even with invented religions I will not fully write our His Name. Whenever I can (ie, around Jews) I use HaShem (in English "The Name"), but since this is an English speaking forum made up almost entirely of Gentiles I will stick to G-d/g-d.

If I may, I think it's been great so far. One of the reason's I joined CFC was to get rid of annoying messages while reading NES's. I never actually joined one for several reasons - orders and statistic maintenance being the main things. Given my trust in Abaddon, and my increasing desire to join NES, ihis thread helped a lot.

I'm actually slightly disappointed the thread got moved so early, as I wanted to get my bearing before being thrown into the ring that is the NES community. That said, I am looking forward to some fun times :)

Someone tell me why the other one didnt get moved either? Its TWO threads long! I think i feel rightly victimised :p

Don't worry Kan', as self involved and egotistical as we NESers are, we are very welcoming towards new members, we reserve judgement (well, most of us do), and we are more than willing to lend a hand.

EDIT: If I had known about the other thread, I probably would have asked that it be removed to. It's probably too late by now though.

 I feel sorry for poor old Abaddon. The 'All Other Games' forum is pretty quiet, he only got a few member in the past day. Now he's being judged in NES territory.

I'll have to ask all of my players in RfMK if they'd support thread 3 being located in here or not. As it stands, seeing that ABNES has been moved into here, I wouldn't mind where it goes, so it's all up to the players...

speaking of the other nes in other games, what's the record for number of updates?

RTOR lasted 11.5 months (according to someone) stknes lasted a little over a year but rtor had 10's of more pages of posts, but neither of them have numbered updates.

Methinks im just to loud sometimes... Forum Games has developed very nicely of late. I would argue the NotW games deserve an area with post counts.. they are hardly the same as stupid word games..
