While We Wait: Part 3

Sorry I don't understand your comment.

Look at some other NES first pages. You would notice, in some of them at least, lots and lots of things being hidden in spoilers to avoid scaring people like that.

Incidentally, yes, it would probably be best to do that, both to avoid scaring some so-called "people" ( :p ) and to make all those things easier to find.

There's a class system around here? And here I was, thinking you were all communists...

It's more like a primitive society gradually evolving in the direction of a military democracy with a fairly strong but not particularly exclusive tribal nobility. Which is mostly fine. ;)

And I was expecting you of all people to notice my gradual usurpation of major threads and projects... ;)

I did notice, actually; that assessment was probably more true a few months ago. I suppose that, on the second thought, this is closer to a chiefdom with declining elements of military democracy by now.

EDIT: I keep being vacillating here. Actually, having thought about it a bit more, it is closer to the former in the terms of political culture and to the latter in the terms of political reality; culture always has trouble catching up with socio-political change, and that's not necessarily a bad thing either, not in this case at any rate. There. :D

Most because noone else can be arsed really..

I agree spoiler tags for all the list would make it easier to take in.

You're right Abaddon. Reading threads and engaging your brain is a serious pain in the ass. I guess that begs the question as to why you're still here then.

Sorry, i forgot people are bombarding you with requests to help your world citys project.

Oh, burned. Whatever shall I do?

Trying to rival Perfection in the department of asinine comments or something? :p

Probably continue to slog along on your own?

Don't get me wrong, the work you are doing with the map thread will be much better than the previous system of haphazard placement. I'd even offer a hand going through the threads and finding maps if you wish.

I was merely pointing out there wasn't really much competition for your "prize"

Then I guess you really weren't paying attention to what I was saying. I guess #1385 wasn't so sarcastic after all.

Nothing i can help you with then?

It's all laid out in the thread. You can verify lists. You can even just yes-man them if you want.

After having read the backstory, the statistics explanations, and a few of the status listings, I can say it's really not that long. The introduction and backstory takes up about 10% of the overall length, advances take up about 50%, and the listings under things like Resources of Animals take up about another 25 to 30%. So, somewhere between 85 and 90% of it is lists.

It's not long. Anyone who says that is just lazy. The meat of it is in the second and third posts.

The main thing that people here probably should be citing as their main reason for dislike is it's very RPG-orriented (as admitted in the introduction, and I mean this term in the fashion of D&D) and fairly localized. Its closest relative in these forums is probably the abortive superhero NESes, though it puts much more emphasis on orders than those because, again, as the introduction specifies, it's an RPG about being a leader.

So, it's not within the same vein as almost any game here. That's not a bad thing, but it might limit players. If anybody should be making critiques, it should be in that area, not "Wah, it's longer than a Dachspmg alt-hist, I don't wanna read it!"

Thorgrimm, just as a thought, you might want to set up a little advertisement in the Forum Games subforum to try and draw some of them in if you find yourself wanting for players; more traditional RPGs are fairly common there, and between the two you can probably get some people who are interested.

I do not think these rules belong in a forum that has 'games' like "What music video is this still from?" and "Guess that Song" Oh joy what good forum games. :D

As for the RPing part, in a way yes, and in a way no. What I mean by that is every nation had a beginning with just a handful of people who eventually grew into the nations that have been, at one time or another, on this planet. They had their Great Kings/Heroes to lead them, but that does not mean that their nation was put on the backburner, so to speak, to go adventuring. If all you do in this NES is write stories about the adventures of your leader, well, I am sorry to say, you will not be leading them for long until the Wastelands claim another victim. ;) :D

This game is more about leading a group of people out of the dark ages of a post apoc hell on Earth and back into the light of civilization. So just because your tribe begins small does not mean it cannot grow into the next superopwer. :D

And truth be told, I do have a set of rules completed for that transition, but only the truly dedicated players will reach that plateau. For, once again, the Wastelands are a harsh mistress and will not feel any sympathy for one more lost tribe that fell to her 'charms'. :D

:nuke: Cheers, Thorgrimm :nuke:

What happened to the "Openings in NESes" thread? I have room for one more in BirdNES and would like to advertise it.

Go ahead and ask. I will wait to hear from you. For this turn I ahve already NPCed the nation. Any new player can "retool" the culture to suit their needs.

IDK, I've never pictured us as communists, more an anarcho-syndicalist commune. Though I am still waiting for my week as executive officer...

A commune is a commune, isn't it? In any case, I think I already explained that this isn't it, not any more. So you should drop your anarcho-syndicalism before I start oppressing you. :p
