I'm in physics too, actually.
See I knew it.

The idea that I could contain my rage at your collective failings under the guise of an alternate account is a dramatic underestimation of your capacity for garnering my ire.See I knew it.
Oh, I never meant to imply that you weren't; my main focus was on stating that Symphony's area of expertise didn't lie where you have demonstrated yours to be. Or something to that effect. Yeah, it was about him, not you?I'm in physics too, actually.

Fantasmo said:Hahahahaha. Ah, the Ottomans. Hilarity! You know who didn't suck in the 1840s and 1850s? Britain. They were great. I miss Britain. Why doesn't someone make a NES where Britain is good, instead of mauled (by some amazing twist of fate) by America, or somesuch. Britain needs more respect from you rapscallions.
das has posited such scenarios twice.
PoD: Napoleon is born as usual, but penguins abduct him and take him to Constantinople as a boy.
I've been wondering, what have sp and Charles done that gives them such a bad reputation? did they do smething bad a while back, or have they just been considered unsuccessful in NESs?
I meant the Tsar Pavel's War TL and the aforementioned Napoleonic scheme, not what I did.If I recall correctly, it was through no fault of my own, except inasmuch as I didn't let you fall apart into infighting early on. I could hardly be blamed for the fact that everyone and their dog helped you do it in one way or another.
Oh, most certainly. It's not for nothing that it's called the 'Auspicious' Incident. Bit like the Nacht der langen Messer in a way, hmm?Well, there were those too. I maintain that the later half of the 18th century was in a way an even lower point than most of the 19th century for the Ottoman Empire; getting rid of the Janissaries certainly was an improvement, for one thing, as was receiving serious and tangible support from the British.
Oh, I don't know; the SA certainly was attempting to do its part in stalling Nazi 'progress', as it were, so perhaps it might be considered superficially comparable in that field as well. Also, it's die Nacht, not der Nacht.Only in the most general sense of rapidly killing off an annoying, harmful part of the political elite in the capital (I wonder why haven't more Byzantine emperors done something like that?). Anyway, der Nacht dealt with a limited group within the first generation of immediate retainers, whereas this was aimed against a bloated umpteenth-generation military "caste". Not really comparable except with regards to the means.
