Or I can just point out the rather obvious fact that the President has little to nothing to do with the success or innovation of the private sector. You seem to hate the idea of a command or even mixed economy, so why you want to pretend we live in one and credit our government with responsibility for any successes on the market's part is beyond me.

Economic and technological booms are rarely the result of government policy, but rather just stable government policies allow them to take place. When it goes to crap, governments get the blame, most of the time unfairly.

These days the Federal Reserve of America, which independent of the Federal government has more say over the economy than the President. The government just makes the rules and can change them, but to do it to often results in instability the thing you are trying to avoid.

Therefore for Bush to claim credit for either the boom or to get the blame for the slump is both erronous and somewhat short-sighted.

Yep, you know, those companies like General Electric or Microsoft or Ford, having to shut down R&D because of those nasty socialist-wannabe Democrats, because innovation totally isn't the very foundation of what product-oriented companies do, a-nope. As you get older Symph you will begin to realise that attacks on people at this first place is not a coherent adult-level activity and in fact will eventually cause you to earn a pariah status of sorts, if it has not already done so in many of your own personal circles.

Rarely will people tell you what they think of you to your face (or as I do via the forums). I respect more the people who dislike me openly then those who do it behind your back and are all smiles to your face, because you know where you stand

On this consideration however I feel that you attack me, not my arguments and while my arguments are actually the same as yours many times, you dont seem to realise that and carry on with personally attacking me for no reason but what is probably your mental equivalent of stroking your ego. To somehow justify that as adult-level is laughable and I hope you realise just how immature you are at times, some day, before its too late.

Your arguments need little attack to prove them insubstantial--I believe in economy of effort. Goodness, taxes should be cut during recessions and raised during expansionary periods. Pay off the debt when you are prosperous. Unfortunately, we seem to have a system where we consistently lower taxes and expect the deficit to disappear and people to pick themselves up by their bootstraps.
