The "devil" you say! There is no specific reason to close this at 1000. It can run for a while if things stay under control. :)

I thought threads over 1000 posts long made the forum slow down and did funny things, though.

My first game of Diplomacy not going well.

Thank you Lightfang, you game me nights of suffering while I am doing my exams. :sarcasm:

Dark, this is a bit late, and I never did get to know you well. But farewell and good luck in your ventures; hopefully, you will return if life and time permit.

Everything is going exactly as I planned.

You may want to check with your fellow mods on that issue, since they seemed to think there was at some point.

Well, the Quick Answers/Newbie Questions thread in Civ3GD is almost 10k posts. There's a bunch of threads in Civ3C&C that are over 1000 posts.

Really, the only forum that enforces that rule is OT. I see no reason to close this thread at 1000 posts. And if BJ is okay with keeping this thread running past 1000....

Personally, I don't see much reason to close at 1000. Like I said, it's an OT thing.

Like I said, it's an OT thing.

Well, that settles it. If OT is doing things one way, NES is honour-bound to do the exact opposite. :p

That said, weren't there some technical problems with that? Or is it simply a matter of principle as long as we're talking about thousands and not tens of thousands?

Is it just me that fc's signature jumped into his post?
It was getting lonely, always having to stay down there.

But seriously, I think it's a consequence of how signatures are coded (probably just appended to your post as a variable constant  part of it) and how that interacts with the picture aligning thing.

You should have made that post legal and have started a thread here!

I think its an artefact of older coding and forum innards.. I don't think it actually matters any more.

I think it would be kinda cool to merge and reinstate threads so they are many many k's long :D

Well, I wouldn't mind as much if the top of the forum weren't now cluttered with While We Waits when ordered by number of posts. Can we delete them or something?
