BTW, what's going on with Symphony D.? Is he still around, taking a break, or gone for good?

I don't know about you guys but I really like / liked Symphony's maps. I find them useful as reference, particularly when you can blend one (game) map over another (real world with borders and cities) for comparison. My slow internet connection is the only real reason I stick to plain-colour PNG's for my own stuffs.

My guess is that he got fed up with everyone and left. Which was a disappointment, as I felt like he had lots of great contributions to the community and he raides some very valid points.

As has already been pointed out, he still is in Pre-ChaNES, so I'd say he had simply downgraded his involvement, possibly temporarily, probably for some of the reasons pointed out above or a combination thereof (though he is not banned).

I didn't talk to him much, but from what I saw he was very condescending towards others. He seemed to believe he was always right, and was willing to drill you into the ground to prove it.

But I don't know him personally, so I am just speculation.

I disagree with the base idea. I play a different style depending on the NES. An enjoy different styles of NES.

Bah, you're no fun. When someone simplifies what are really complex issues by creating classifications, you should go with the flow! I mean, we already go with Classical, Jazz, Rock, etc, FPSs, RPGs, RTSs, etc, the Left and the Right, and so on, right?

I like all good examples from an subgenre you would care to create. I am not going to go all fanboy about a certain niche and cast all others aside. It is blinkered, restrictive thinking. The only merit I can see in such divisions its to allow concentrate and extension of what makes that niche nicheworthy.
