Methinks you have not seen me being vicious (and I have never seen Chandra be vicious).
This is not outside the scope of the theory. Any given NESer has a preferred point on the axes, and a tolerance for deviations from that point. Symphony D. is a Simulationist with a small tolerance for other styles. I am a Simulationist-Boardgamer with a fairly large tolerance for other styles. You, apparently, are a Centrist with a very large tolerance for other styles. Sorry, but you're not that special. No, I happen to enjoy NESes at the extremes, too, because your system is broken. I'm sorry. I realize you worked hard on it and blah blah blah and you tried to make it reflect reality, but truth is that I simply do not fit and will not fit into your system. Maybe I'm an outlier. Maybe I'm one out of a forum. But I can enjoy any kind of NES, and will continue to do so no matter what you do with your little classification scheme. kthxbai
You're reminding me of hardline global warming deniers who reject all of the science involved simply because gaping rear ends like Al Gore will inevitably use it to further their political agendas. Don't reject a consistent, predictive model just because you dislike the way that some people will use it. The fact is that the classification works. If you have a problem with people politicizing it, take it up with them.North King said:What I'm getting at is that the divide between Abaddon and Symphony's preferences should not be reinforced by a silly classification scheme that will discourage/encourage the usage of certain elements in their rules or their moderating styles. "Oh, that's trending towards simulationism," or "Oh no, you're running an arcader NES." NESes should be judged on their own merits, on a case by case basis, not on what "school" they inherit.
I'll be damned if I let myself be pigeonholed by the politicization of NESing. You can classify away -- you'll just lose all my respect (for whatever that's worth), and my attention (probably even less important).
How many Simulationists does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
No one knows, they haven't finished the rules yet.![]()
