Why do you assume the Inuit are in?

Since I believe the Inuit are not going to be included, I voted the Cree to represent Canada.

Arawak or Taino

'Bout time for a Caribbean civ.

Either might make interesting additions (as DLC or in an expansion), but neither would represent the "Native Americans" in the traditional meaning of indigenous non-Inuit peoples of continental North America north of the Rio Grande.

It would be nice to have a civ that could take advantage of small islands. It seems like those are going to feel pretty marginal with the "unstacked cities". Perhaps they can get more population capacity from work boats and harbors or coastal city centers.

Exactly. With unstacked cities, islands will be hard.

Maybe they could just get +x culture and gold on every sea tile.

My preferences:
Comanche - leader Quanah Parker or Black Horse
Shawnee - leader Tecumseh
Sioux - leader Red Cloud

Why can't we have both Iroquois and Sioux? We could have Iroquois to represent eastern Native Americans and Sioux to represent the Plains region, seeing as they were both quite different from each other in terms of culture and lifestyle. I'd even be willing to accept a Cherokee civ, a Pueblo civ, and the return of the Shoshone...

Just as long as we don't have a "Native American" blob civ like in IV... What was Fraxis even thinking?

Iroquois, Sioux or Cherokee are all great choices. Just for variety, I'd favor Sioux or Cherokee because they weren't in Civ 5.

I think the Inuit would be an interesting choice. Although small in number, their culture and life style is very unique. plus, it'd be nice ot be able to do something nifty with those tundra/ice tiles ;)

"Civilizations" that never advanced past the stone are represented in the game... by Minor Tribe huts and Barbarians.

There. I said it. :D

You realize the concept of the "Stone Age" and other similar constructs are obsolete and not really used by modern historians or anthropologists, right? Society does not exist on a teleological start-to-finish track that societies follow in a deterministic order.

I'd prefer not to have the Sioux for two reasons: the temptation to stereotype is too great and the average non-Native American seems to think all Native Americans are Sioux as it is. It would be nice to get some media coverage for some of the less visible cultures.

I still think the Iroquois are a very good choice.

Something new would be the Haida.

Something impressive would be the Mississippians.

Zulu and Celts are in every game, so frankly it's all fair game now. I lean toward the Mississippi and Cherokee because I feel their accomplishments and distinctions are just as worthy of inclusion as a Greece, Maya, China (seriously the Mississippi in particular were mind blowing).

Point of clarification, the Celts were unquestionably iron age, not stone age. Their weapons were made of Iron.

I didn't necessarily doubt that, I just didn't have enough knowledge to comment on it intelligently.

In civ 4 the civ was actually just called "Native Americans" and represented them as a whole instead of picking a specific group.

Although historically total nonsense, this could really work, if they gave this NATIVE civilization North American Native Tribe names as City Names.
Why not?
My proposition is as follows:

Civilization Name: NATIVE AMERICA
LEADERS: Sitting Bull, Hiawatha, Tecumseh (a bunch of other possibilities)
UNIQUE UNITS: Brave, Dog Warrior, Mohawk Warrior

City names:
Powhatan
Potomac
Seneca
Lakota
Apache
Cherokee
Osage
Comanche
Pawnee
Delaware
Huron
Haida
Seminole
Oneida
Shawnee
Shoshone
Arapahoe
Navajo
Cree
Mohawk

sorry, I could name tons more...

Anyway, I imagine this Civ to be very Expansionistic, Spiritual and Warlike, while quite Honorable.

Historically, complete nonsense, but hey, it's only a game.

Like the oft blond haired Mandan.

Just not the Inuit, please!
The game is called Civilization, not Tribes!
While very original and interesting, the Inuit cannot play on par with Rome or China, otherwise the game's turning to garbage.

Not at all garbage, just more inclusive and creative. We were able to include the Inuit in CiV as a mod, as it had everything necessary to design a UA and two uniques.

Right, and have the Inuit possibly build The Great Library (for example) ?
You are defying the laws of Historical Civilizations by gifting (nomadic) tribes same attributes as real CIVILIZATIONS.
It's fun, I got to say, but when Huns beat me to a Great Wonder, and I'm playing as Egypt, it turns to mockery.
