Why are priests allowed to vote?

Our last prime minister was a priest(norway).

And he's a smarmy git and his administration's policies were also a disgusting load of fetid dingo's kidneys, but I guess none of this is causally linked with him being a priest.

Well, I can think of one good thing that came from that administration: The ban on smoking in public buildings. Before it was enacted, I could never stand to be in a pub or whatnot for more than a couple of hours. The week after it came into force in 2004, I spent hours and hours at a pub chatting with this one lady who is now my wife and the mother of my son. So here's one little dude who indirectly owes his existence to the Bondevik government:

Actually, Representative Emanuel Cleaver (D) of Kansas City used to give political speeches all the time from the pulpit of his church. He was still giving sermons (politically motivated and just good ol' religious ones) when he was Mayor of Kansas City.

Well I don't mean religiously political ones such as helping the poor or whatnot; I mean things such as "You should vote for this candidate" which I believe is frowned upon.
