I have CIV IV, but almost always just play CIV III, because ...
1) I really prefer the 2D graphics. CIV is a strategy game, not a virtual reality movie.
2) I kept moving units accidentally to wrong place (new move interface)
3) IV game seems slower to really get underway.
I've never finished a CIV IV game, so maybe I haven't given IV a fair shake, but suspect I wouldn't have fared much better had I not started on CIV III (PTW).
On the surface, CIV IV looks like it could be a more interesting interactive team game, with specialist team 'advisors' acting in a leader/cabinet organizational structure, but hey, I grew up on chess, and and am not into delegation in my game play.
