I have CIV IV, but almost always just play CIV III, because ...

1) I really prefer the 2D graphics. CIV is a strategy game, not a virtual reality movie.
2) I kept moving units accidentally to wrong place (new move interface)
3) IV game seems slower to really get underway.

I've never finished a CIV IV game, so maybe I haven't given IV a fair shake, but suspect I wouldn't have fared much better had I not started on CIV III (PTW).

On the surface, CIV IV looks like it could be a more interesting interactive team game, with specialist team 'advisors' acting in a leader/cabinet organizational structure, but hey, I grew up on chess, and and am not into delegation in my game play.

I have a bunch of g4's but no g5's. Wish I did though.

Number 3 and a bit of number one, although I have a fast comp it is very slow. but most of all: I just hate Civ 4, it just doesn't have that good ol' civ feeling for me.

I just simply prefer Civ III. I have Civ IV, and I do play it on the occasion, but I like Civ III better.

I have Civ 4. Its ok I guess, but I cant really get into it like I can with Civ III. Also, Civ 4 runs fine up until the modern age, but then my computer really starts chugging with it. Its not very much fun when I have to wait 5 minutes between every turn and another 5 minutes every time I open the diplomacy screen.

I also dont really care too much for the RPG-like leveling of the units. Its not a terribly bad game tho. I'd probably actually play it more if I had a better comp. But Civ III just runs a lot better on the comp I have atm. :)

I have a POS computer and knew the Civ4 requirements were too high.

Amen. I have a laptop that overheats like crazy. I think I could play it with the patches they put out, it it's so unbelievably slow...

Why am I still playing Civ III? The system requirement for Civ IV is too high for my PC. Beside, I never got bored with Civ III Conquest so why change. It is still a lot of fun.

Usually before I buy a game I got a copy from a friend or since I got broadband I get the game on the internet. If I like it I go to the software store and buy a original copy if not I delete the game.

when I got C3C from a friend after one week playing with his copy I bought
C3C from a website similar to amazon (even without beating the AI in chieftain for first time lol). in just one week I decided to buy the game becase C3C was amazing

few weeks ago my old computer got trashed cuzz a thunderstorm so I finally bought a new one, I decided to download CIV IV to test it since I saw it in the same store where I bougth my pc and got interested in switching from
C3C to Civ IV, after one day wating for the download I installed the game patched to last patch and started playing after reading few war academy articles I got familiar with the game but...even with the all the new features the game introduces like more tiles improvements, units promotion, and those kickass graphics, I felt really dissapointed about it and for being honest happy for keeping my old policy of "first get a downloaded copy, if u like it support the creators buying it" because when I was at the store I really wanted to buy the game without testing it first. I dont know why I didnt like it the game...but I must say that after playing that game for 3 days I deleted the copy from my HD and forgot the possibily of buying it.

Well, last night I finally installed Complete Civ III from Chronicles and Snoopy's Graphics Modpack and now I'm hooked again. I have Civ 4 but CivIII seems better.

"Scrambled Eggs a la Holiday Inn Bedroom"

1. Break two eggs into a little frying pan hidden in your luggage.

2. Play Civ IV for five minutes on your laptop.

3. Close laptop and place frying pan on top.

4. Eat when cooked.

But there are other reasons. Civ IV is what happens when "image" people and marketing people take over from designers with anything resembling a mind. You can see some fine ideas lurking there, but they are overwhelmed by the froth. I'll play Civ IV when I can turn all that junk off. I'm not a kid and life's too short.

Why Are you still playing Civ III?

I'm not. I like Civ4 much better.

But that didn't stop me from buying Civilization III Complete just the other day even though I already own Civ3 and both its expansions.

IF Civ 4 was 2D but better graphics then it'd be brilliant - Dunno why stupid Sid decided it'd be 3D.

Still playing civ 3 as it works on the laptop (cIV doesn't) - and I would look stupid taking the desktop on the train.

cIV is what I am teaching the kids though (8 and 6) Katie is a builder through and through, but can hold her own on the third difficulty level (regent?) Tom at 6 needs a lower level and is a warmonger through and through. They prefer cIV - it might be the graphics, I like both.

I voted #1 but when my grandparents moved in with us and brought their computer with them I tried it out and it just didn't have that "one more turn" feel with it.

Civ 4 gave me a cartoon feeling about it. I mean, look at the leaderheads, they're too cartoon like!!!

I enjoy Civ 3 much better, since it is simple, and it brings out the detail in the game (With the leaderheads and terrain and units), with Civ 4, it's as if they put toys in the game.

I used to say that Civ 3 was better but not anymore - I played Civ4 a lot and I find Civ4 is better and more addictive.

I haven't tried Civ4 yet, but it just doesn't interest me very much. I loved Civ2 and I love Civ3. I do, however, think Fall From Heaven II looks interesting...

"One More Turn" -- That sums up the Civ3 feeling.
