Why hate fail pics?

Because they fail

Ad hominems are generally FAIL arguments.

"FAIL" and demotivators just serve to detract away from the original picture. if they make the picture funny, then fine, but if the picture is funny on its own then please just leave out the captions. it just points out the bleeding obvious, it demeans the viewer's intelligence.

Adding the letters F-A-I-L to pic is like a sign of aproval. No pic is complete without it.

Hey, let's add "hahaha!" to (supposedly) funny pictures. That will make it better, right?

That could well be a new wave.

I think I'll start a new thread....

I think they're great. But many people on this forum don't. Why?

Because I'm not a moron, and have an intellectual capacity surpassing that of an amoeba suffering from developmental difficulties, and as such, I don't really need to be told that an airplane which is in a tree, or a capsised boat, or any other situation which is mildly humorous and may in some vague, tangential, if not completely irrelevant way be linked to some sort of generalised failure, as, quite frankly, I can recognise this myself, and I don't need your condescending, ivory-tower lecturing about whether this constitutes a failure.

It serves to detract from the humour and aesthetic of the image. In fact, I, and a number of other people I know of, will actually just scroll right past "fail" pictures, or demotivational posters, purely because of this.

What's worse is if the picture is genuinely funny, and some little half-minded twerp who thinks he's the next George Carlin, but turns out to actually be the next Adam Sandler writing his self-professed philosophical and humouristic writings over it, including "fail", and in the process meaning that an image I would otherwise have saved, or have printed or whatever, is worse than garbarge.

Okay, when soeone presents an argument, it is traditional amongst the non-brain-damaged members of our society to respond in turn with an argument they have constructed, usually beginning with "I respectfully disagree with you on these points because....", rather than resorting to what is essentially Sesame Street debates.
