why i think C3C sucks

The author of this thread is ignorant of all things strategic. Civ 3 offers hardcore strategists something to chew over. Much better than the Black Hole of Strategy Games: Civ 4. Also the mods for Civ 3 are pretty good.

- Agricultural Trait - its not that great, after the expansion part of the game is done it doesnt help to much like a Industrial trait would. - Armies- What do you mean about armies? there havent been any changes about the Armies (if your talking about the three units in one thing) - AI have gotten alot better and more of a challenge, how many times have you seen a AI with over 80 tanks during peace time, How about over 150 during war? - Crusaders and Horsmen things - Who cares? get the wonder first go on a lower diffuculty or go on with life - IronClads- Dont reasearch the tech if there not useful.... - Fascism and Feudalism - Facism is great because your people dont whine when at war and you can support huge millitarys, also workers work faster than democracy workers, very useful, Feudalism ive never used but Im sure its useful if your in under a certain circumstance. I Love civ the Only problems ive ever had were that the corruption was horrible even on large maps, on democracy, with police stations and courthouses, and Marshlands and Volcanoes were added just to piss people off I think.

HipHop, sorry, but I have to correct you in a couple of points:

- Agricultural Trait - its not that great, after the expansion part of the game is done it doesnt help to much like a Industrial trait would.
Agricultural is the most powerful trait there is. Just check out Jon Shafer's excellent article "The Case For Food" over in the Military Academy.

- Armies- What do you mean about armies? there havent been any changes about the Armies (if your talking about the three units in one thing)
Let me tell you: the Armies have been changed completely from PTW to C3C!
  • C3C Armies get an additional movement point, meaning they can strike further away faster, or attack one more time each turn.
  • C3C Armies can pillage without using a movement point! Very useful on higher levels for laying waste to the enemy's core land...
  • C3C Armies can heal in one turn. PTW Armies take for ever to heal, even in a town with barracks, so you can use them less often.
  • And the most important: a C3C Army has increased Attack/Defense values! Again check the Military Academy and read Theoden's research results: "The Basics of Armies". Just as an example: If you have a size-4 Cavalry Army, then in PTW, this is simply a 6/3/3 unit with a "very long hitpoint bar", not more... In C3C however, assuming you have built the Military Academy, this amounts to a 12/6/4 unit with a very long hitpoint bar!! That's quite a monster...
All these improvements over the ordinary PTW Army make C3C Armies so overpowered, that some people even regard using Armies against the AI as an "exploit" that should be banned... :D (The more so as due to some bug in C3C the AI is not capable of using Armies, while in PTW the AI does use them.)

I agree on ironclads. Never bother to research or build them. For the rest, I think, depends on AI (AS) and player capability.

I never found that as a hindrance for me to enjoy the games. Overall C3C is better for me. On army, I like them now than before since I think they're somewhat weak before. Since you need to war and fulfill the criteria and not to mention spent some shields to get the army working as one, it should give you some advantages over ordinary units. Or course the stupid AI makes it looks overpowered. That's the only problem.

Normally AI will use artillery to attack your attacking army. Only with inadequate number.

SOZ and KT, never find them useful maybe because I'm not warmonger. Always go with knight and better wonders.

Whether of not the Conquest expansion, "sucks", I can't fathom the idea of playing Civ 3 stock, with or without the expansions. O.o
