I disagree, Slowhand (btw-I love Clapton). Isreal is giving us the best intelligence in the WORLD right now. In a war against small bands of shadowy terrorists this is the most valuable weapon. Isreal must also 'act' like it is not involved or incur the wrath of the arab partners. Isreal is getting the shaft again while standing at our side. My gratitude goes out to the Isreali people.

Killing them makes the world BETTER! When we kill them, it won't be with a plane load of tortured and terrified CIVILIAN passengers, while they are at work in a CIVILIAN office building!
They will not be tied up, throats slit, like the flight attendants on the hijacked aircraft.
It may be a small thing, but American soldiers don't feel good about killing anyone, even in combat. I didn't.

Thats why we ARE better than terrorists. They celebrate the death and destuction they bring about. Maybe if they spent the energy building a better standard of living for themselves instead of killing us, they would celebrate living and building like we do.
These are murderous, twisted people that should be shot like rabid animals. Not people that need a hug.

Killing is NEVER justifiable. What would killing him accomplish?
Possible series of events:

1) The U.S. kills the suspected terrorist, Osama Bin Laden
2) The Non-terrorist Islamic Fundies get pissed at this.
3) Membership in extreme terrorist groups increases astronomically.
4) More terrorist attacks happen.
5) Millions of innocent people are killed over the death of one man.

This is a possible series of events, and a death won't scare religious people who think they will be rewarded in death for the death of Americans.

I actually mis-speak.
I've seen Israeli's running their mouth in other forums, and it's mainly them that makes me less ardent than before.
You're right, by and large the government of Israel has done us right.

The word crusade, here in america, is used alot, and it was with little foresight that it came out of the Presidents mouth when it did. Even a dim-witted person could understand the context in which it was used, however. Saying the US is on a Crusade against Islam is just stupid (and/or propaganda).

The people who are against the West were already that way before the action in Afghanistan started. They just use it as an excuse to get pissed off, they would feel different if it was, say, their country attacked by suicide bombers.

I really don't want to wade into this but do you for one second believe that Osama will desist if we just let him off like that? He'll probably think America and the West is soft(er) amd will launch, what, chemical or biological attacks. And if he dares to hit NY, he'll also hit Beijing, Tokyo, London, Paris, Moscow ........... in the future. And it'll encourage others to mimic cos the West didn't even dare to retalliate.

Killing him may not do much but at least, it'll remove the immediate threat coming from him and his group. We can let the future sort out itself. In future, we'll just have to be on guard and more wary. Nobody promise you that life will be easy.

During some Army training years ago, I learned a little tidbit that might be of assistance "Napalm sticks to terrorists". We might want to give it a shot, ... Personally, I prefer phosphorous... but I'll settle for Napalm ...

Floppa21, have you heard of MAD? It stands for mutually assured destruction. No matter what we do Nuclear terrorists are likely to launch at least one nuke, and they'll do it before the NMD plan bears fruit.

Ya know anyone with some reasonable thought processes would realize that this issue will not peacefully resolve itself. By wasting your country we probably saved the lives of 10s of millions of Chinamen during WWII. I know you don't learn much about that war in your country but you guys were everybit as barbaric as the Nazis and as fanatical as these terrorists.

We have no choice but to resort to violence here. If we just turn the other cheek we will just wind up without the Sears Tower, Empire State Bldg., Golden Gate Bridge, etc. If we leave the entire Mid-east and turn our back on Israel we will leave them alone with a Billion Musilms who would rather they not exist.

I personally would find a lot of satisfaction if Bin Laden wound up in a NY state prision for life. I imagine the inmates there would probably treat him worse than they do child molesters. I would be tempted to steal a car in NY just so I could kick his ass , but that will not happen. He's going to die in Afghanistan and there is nothing you and you little buddies can do about it.

What I ment was that the US should put heavier pressure on ALL terror supporting countries (letting them get to the UN security council is NOT putting pressure) to stop ALL terrorists. Also the US should do whatever it can in order to stop these countries from getting nukes - as an opposite to letting them buy nukes in order to gain the Muslim voice. When terrorists will put their hands on nuclear weapons they'll probably find more creative ways to use it other then a ballistic missile. I don't worry of these missile. WE have the Hetz... And the US don't... He he he...
