Well, actually I had read the remenant of the thread, and the official reason you have posted here BEFORE I posted this thread.
I still don't understand why he got banned since he wasn't neither 'hate mongering', nor 'nationality bashing'... or have I missed smthg ?

ASAIK, he just said taking sanctions against France would be ridiculous, that's all.

I definitely appreciate the stepped up level of moderation.

Nationality bashing- this must be newly prohibited or newly enforced, plenty of posters and a certain moderator have long engaged in bashing the French in particular. The phrase "cheese eating surrender monkeys" is used again and again unpunished even today. Most Israel/Palestine threads get nationality bashing as a baseline part of the discussion. And do we still get to have Axis of Evil nations, or is that phrase itself a pretty vulgar example of nationality bashing (as I've always claimed?)

The problem I see is a need for very clear PC language, distinguishing government-bashing from nationality bashing, or there will be a whole lot of cleaning up to do.

Critisizing national policies and stands on issues is good, inslulting because of nationality is prohitbited. Advocating hate against a nantionality, other than contempt for national policy or issues is prohibitted. Mindlessly insulting national symbols and goverments is prohibited. Overall judgments of goverments or nations IN THE CONTEXT of serious discussion of their policies, issues, achievements and failures is OK. Many posts blend elements of theses. They will be JUDGED acording to wheather they advance discusion of issue more, or insult more.
In the Humor and Jokes forum, replace "issue" with "Humor". The funnier and more original (and I tired of France surrenders jokes before many of you were born, so you bettr have a very clever twist when posting one) it is, the sharper it may be.
