Will religion eventually collapse?

The current crop of religions of course will either die out or evolve beyond recognizability, but mysticism unfortunately ahs very deep roots in the human psyche. I can imagine 2 scenarios:

1. Humanity successfully colonizes outer space. In this case the current crop of stuff must necessarily die out. Calculating the proper direction to Mecca from Mars multiple times per day might just make the regular Muslim to learn enough math and science to stop being a Muslim.

2. Human failed on space colonization. In this case with all probability human civilization will fall, whether by natural (asteroids and such) or human (war, famine, etc.) causes. If that happens the religions will 'mutate'.

Where is this dream world you live in Mr.OP? It doesn't matter what I tell people, they just deny it and believe what they want to believe regardless of whether I can prove it or not. The religious groups have just become more intolerant and bitter as time goes on, not more understanding! Bah!

As long as people ponder their own existence, there will be religion.

OR the Muslim instead says "Oh cool i am a great scientist . Thank you Invisible Spaggeti monster that i believe to for no reason(second parenthesis. Other than one of these : tradition , cultural reasons , Brain washing , it makes me feel better ,etc) , for helping me."

People already live in a world where the necessary scientific baground for concluding that there is no reason to believe in God exists.

I imagine when people start Space colonization they will say something like "when we time travel , people will stop being religious" Even then they will be mistaken.

Religion will never collapse. Irregardless of the scientific advancements, intelligence, and education of the public.

Do you think Religion will survive in the future? From the way I see it, there are so many factors working against religion that it seems likely it will eventually die out:

-Science is making religion seem increasingly ridiculous
-More people are becoming educated and rational (and thus less likely to believe in supernatural forces)
-Technology satisfies many of our day-to-day needs and can help avert disasters and solve problems (people no longer need to turn to prayer for these things)
-Why spend dull, boring hours at church/temple/mosque/synagogue when there is so much technology to entertain you and so many responsibilities to fulfill?
-Religious tolerance has exposed people to the ideals of other religions (when you know only one religion and consider people of other faiths as heathens, then you firmly believe that your religion is correct while all others are wrong but when you are exposed to multiple religious ideologies, it sort of corrodes your faith in your religion since it makes you think "With so many religions in this world, how do I know mine is the correct one and all others are wrong? Is it possible that the millions of people in other religions are following delusional ideologies?"
-We no longer need religion to explain the origins and workings of the universe.
-Our moral standards have improved enormously since religious texts were written which makes some of these texts seem barbaric and horrifying
-Certain religions are hostile to certain groups of people (e.g. homosexuals)
-Governments and countries are becoming increasingly secular.

Do you think that religion will survive the next century?
Do you think religions will adapt to these problems facing them?
If you think that religions will eventually die out, how long do you think that this decline and eventual collapse will take?

sure that all sounds good until theres somekind of global diaster that science cant explain and the goverments cant solve and ppl go "oh . .. .. .. ., guess i shouldnt have abandonded my religon" and every one turns to their diety begging for forgiveness and mercy

You still have to explain why God wants religion to continue forever!

Well that entirely depends on your definition of religion, o artistic one :)

Answer this .

Because God (the invisible Pink flamingo under some people's belief) created the Human nature ?

Spoiler :
It's a catch

I don't think it means much to a religious person we learn all there is to know about the universe, they look at the world for proof of God, having assumed he already exists. It's the foundation of all their other definitive beliefs, to abandon God would bring the whole tower down...

I think even if God opened up the clouds and told the faithful that he didn't exist, they would still believe he did.

Wait what?

@ Kulade Reading your post i was reminded of the "life of Bryan".

@ Nylan. Sorry . It was lost in the quoting.

You still have to explain why God wants religion to continue forever!

To the Christian of 1000 AD, religion has already evolved past recognition. I'll wager the same thing will be true for us in 3000 AD.

I think you mean "why did God create human nature?".

No i don't. I am offering an answer to a question and the ? , in the end is to see what Nylan thinks over my answer.

The question is : You still have to explain why God wants religion to continue forever!

And my answer is : Because God created the Human nature ?

I think you mean "why did God create human nature?".

he meant what he meant by saying what he thinks.... I think :hmm:

but Religion will be one of the few things that lasts the test of time.....
