The question is simple.

Do you intend to buy Vista in 2007, either by purchasing it in a box, either by buying a new computer that will be delivered with Vista installed ?

If you'll probably do it but you're not really sure, answer YES. If you haven't thought of it, vote NO.

Reason for posting this in OT : Microsoft Vista is about to be sold to the public and will concern everyone with a PC in the world, at least through hardware's prices. Which should mean a great majority of CFCers.

[censored] no.

Silent mangling of my data? No thank you. Random reboots? MS reserving the right to confiscate it right back at any time? Using my computer and my internet connection for their purposes without my approval (and if they could, without my knowledge)?

You can hate me if you want, that's just my personal choice: I LOVE WINDOWS! And Microsoft. Never had any problems at all with it. And I don't have any problem with those who had, or those who don't like it. I will buy it, but considering 99% of the software here is pirated, I don't think I'll buy a real version.

My vote : No. ;)

Primary reason : Vista isn't a free software (as in speech nor as in beer).

Other reasons : Too many to list them all, and counting. You can see a glimpse of them in the Computers forum.

Do so at your own peril. I don't have a problem with downloading abandonware games. After a game becomes abandonware downloading it really doesn't hurt anyone. It does seem wrong to pirate new stuff that some group of developers just spent a long time to make.

I doubt it. If I buy a new comp and it gets bundled in, then fine.
You may be interested in this, then.

My new "Vista-Capable" laptop entitles me to a copy and I can't wait.

By "entitles", do you mean that there's a copy of Vista included in the laptop price, which is higher than normal?

Yeah. I made sure the laptop I bought last summer was certified Vista ready. I'll probably bump up the memory to 2GB, but otherwise I think it's good to go. Probably wait until summer.

I hope not to have to change my computer this year, but should it happen I'll probably get the OS they ship with it, and that probably will be Vista.

I couldn't care less about the OS anyway. The less I have to deal with it the better.

I'm against Windows, and my last purchase was heavily affected by getting a 2000kr voucher redeemable at Dell shops. :p

It was a while back... lemme check...

EDIT: at least three years.

Nay! I am content with XP.

I know it's wrong. :) I'm sorry that I am forced to do it.

No NEVER! Even if i have to forgoe PC games. Il find a way around it.
