Would you consider him to be a religious zealot or just a founder? I mean, he likes to found many religions. Currently in my game, his capital city is home to Confucian, Jewish, and Hindu. On the other hand I conquered 3 holy cities from 3 different civs on my continent.

he's no zealot but he certainly founds a lot of religions :p

I'd call him a founder. He'll only get the early religions if no zealots are playing, and the late ones seem to come more from his general runaway teching than a deisre to collect shrines. And of course, what kind of zealot has FR as favoured civic? =)

Personally, I only call zealotry on the AIs that will consistently spread their religion to a large portion of my cities (hello Izzy, hello Monty) - Sally behaves like a zealot in every other way, but in my games he's usually too busy building units or infrastructure to to do his real job of ensuring my border pops.

Hatty likes missionary as well.

Izzy too, it's a shame they don't typically get along.

Note: Willem likes free religion and he techs well. He will tend to found religions, and then he will tend to spread them to take advantage of his favorite civic. This makes him a typically annoying culture whore.

If he doesn't get wrapped up in all that, he's actually a backstabber. I don't like him, even if his threat index is moderate to low he's super annoying.

I was going to say he likes free religion. Historically he was one of the first to endorse free religion in Europe.

I agree, I think its because he techs so well, I get concerned he will blow by me to AL or something, and dust me. I try to take him out early if hes near me.

I just hate having to attack some culture weakling who inevitably vassals himself to someone or has a nice buddy buddy relationship with someone who has a huge power rating. Even though his threat to win is stoppable, it combines with other threats to make the game harder. Compare this to someone like, say, sitting bull, who tends to draw AI ire, slows the tech pace down, and rarely threatens to win outright himself, and you can see why I don't like willem too much.

Could be Kevin and not Kermit.

You're French though, you should get first dibs ;)

I always wonder how that bastard founds one of the 2 early religions in so many of my games. He doesn't even start with myst! I guess he must work 3 commerce coast tiles to power his way through 2 techs really quick. I like playing as him, hate playin' against him. He's got one of the uglier and smarmy leaderheads.

True. Good history knowledge ;)
That shouldn't make him a religion whore which he isn't indeed. He just techs like a madman so he reaches the religions before others.

When Willem's around, religions abound.

it's funny cause like, no joke, yesterday i was playing as Willem, had Hinduism, Judaism and Taoism founded within The Hague, and had Christianity and Islam based in Amsterdam

yay, great prophets were useful for once :p

He's one of those guys that grabs up religions of there aren't any zealots. I wouldn't call him a zealot - he's more of a culture/techer.
