what the f*cking hell when I try to load it it says, "NOT A VALID SAVE FILE" !!!! I need help I suck at downloading

@WarlordMatt: Are you using Netscape ? because it has a problems with attachments on this server for some people.

If thats the case.. all saves must be UPLOADed or he won't be able to d/l them

no I don't use netscape. And I was saying that I successfully downloaded the file, unzipped it, and put it in the Civ III Saves folder, but when I try to play the game it says, "NOT A VALID SAVE FILE".

I'm able to load the save fine. Does anyone mind if I take a turn?

I suppose it depends on whether or not Matt will download the patch in a reasonable amount of time. I'll go ahead and take the turn but I won't post it unless Matt says it's ok...

LOL Go ahead, ErMaC. U can play while I'm blundering around trying to get this patch installed....

OK well the turn's been done for a couple hours, here's the report that's been sitting in notepad:

1 1500BC - wow this is a crazy map. I send the worker by berlin to go rebuild the road destroyed by barbarians, the archer heads over to the barbarian encampment as does the horseman. The archer winds up spotting a hut.
I switch Dyeville over to Worker so I can get ahole of the Dyes and Spices faster.
EOT: Discovered Curreny.
go for Polytheism so we can get to Monarchy.

2 1475BC - Berlin builds worker, I change it to settler since it's gonna take 16 turns to grow and ~13? turns to make a settler, reasonable.
Hut gives me Philosophy. Have to fix Kyoto since it'll go into unrest next turn. Pop a scientist off one of the land squares.

3 1450BC - Horseman offs barbarian camp, but down to 1 life.

4 1425BC - Dyeville pops a worker, switch back to barracks. Worker builds road on silks. Osaka's culture expands. Find another barbarian encampment west of Kyoto.

5 1400BC - nothing

6 1375BC - Osaka builds swordsman. I leave it building swordsmen. warrior takes out shanghai encampment.

7 1350BC - ...

8 1325BC - London builds settler. Switch production to Temple so we can get that extra ivory square and the other iron square. Send the settler North West to get the game and furs while staying on the river. Figure we'll have to make another city to get the gems and iron completely, anyway.

9 1300BC - French complete Colossus. Oh poo. Finish road to spices, take off the scientist.
Polytheism done. Go for Monarchy.

10 1275BC - ...

11 1250BC - it looks like this is gonna be an island without anyone else on it, HOWEVER the Persians have just founded a city on our continent on the south peninsula. I switch Berlin over to Swordsman. Barbarian approaching Kyoto from the north. I move swordsman out to protect wine.

12 1225BC - turn starts with barbarian attacking my warrior and losing, and barbarian attacking the spearman and losing.. No damage. Find a barbarian camp Southeast of Dyeville.
Lots of incense spotted to the west, along with another encampment.

13 1200BC - Kyoto goes into unrest after the pop point growth last turn and the departure of the spearman. oops. Move spearman back into camp. Off the encampments in the west and south. Town of Furville founded.. only to reveal another barbarian encampment 2 squares to the northwest. Well poop.

14 1175BC - Nothing important. Barbarians don't attack yet. Warrior done in 9 turns. Trying to get horseman over there in time...

15 1150BC - Berlin makes swordsman. Sent north to dispatch barbarians. Barbarian approaching Dyeville is dispatched.

16 1125BC - Osaka builds swordsman. Continuing... Sent south towards persians. Road to Dyeville completed.

17 1100BC - Nothing important.

18 1075BC - Meet up with a Persian Warrior/settler combo. Make first contact. Trade Curreny+Polytheism+WorldMap+70g for Map Making+Code of Laws+Contact with French+World Map. Establish embassy in Paris, they're making the Great Lighthouse and are pretty far into it. She refuses to Ally with me against the Persians. Nuts. oh well, have to do it myself then.

19 1050BC - Barbarians nail Furville 2 turns before the swordsman can get there. They take 25 g. boohoo. Dyeville completes barracks, switch to swordsman. Switch Osaka to Galley. I threaten Xerxes to give over his city and when he doesn't, I declare war. The warrior goes down without a scratch on the swordsman and I get two free workers. Warrior offs a barbarian and becomes elite, but down to 2 health. There's yet another barb encampment sprung up in the far west and one at the very tip of the southwest penninsula.

20 1025BC - Osaka makes Galley, I switch it over to Harbor. I load the horseman in it and look to rendezvous with a swordsman, as well.

france are getting beaten up badly by the persians they only had 4 cities in the first place they have 2 now
they are not that pleased with us
keep osaka on the palace build so that it can be switched to sun tzu

OK I got it, although the thing says it's been downloaded one time so I hope I'm not stepping on someone's toes...

Turn 1 590BC - I realize BCLG has been confusing dyes for silks and silks for dyes. Dyeville is actually on silk and the spearman/settler combo is heading for silk. ^_^ Galley attacked by barbs, it's down in life so I send it back to dyeville to heal.

Turn 2 570BC - Swordsman up north offs more barbarians. Settler in Furville makes for a rendezvous with the swordsman to avoid waiting for escort. A Gamble but I think it'll pay off. He's heading for a square up north that'll give us access to lotsa jungle for when more types of resources show up.
Culture in Osaka expands again.

Turn 3 550BC - swordie kicks more ass up north. The weakened swordie to the southwest offs the camp on the tip of the shore.

Turn 4 530BC - swordie up north banishes barb camp, settler moves in for the grab.

turn 5 510BC - London builds settler, switch to horseman since by the time it gets built it'll be upgrading to a samurai. Tokyo builds warrior, I swithc over to worker since in 10 turns it grows and in 10 turns the worker finishes. I want to clear some of that jungle so it can get some food. settler from london heads south towards dyeville, I'll decide when he arrives there in 4 turns where exactly to put him.

turn 6 490BC - Jungle Love founded. We discover Feudalism. going for chivalry. Dyeville builds settler, switch it to temple. Osaka switched from palace to sun tzu.

turn 7 470BC - swordie fortifies in jungle love until spearman is built. Settler in dyeville heads west. Persians destroy the french.

turn 8 450BC - Silky Smooth founded. Set it to Spearman.

turn 9 430BC - swordie defends against barb warrior in jungle love. Furville finishes barracks, switch to temple to get that other fur and game tiles. I decide to send the settelr from london down to the very tip of the continent so we can get those fishies.

Turn 10 410BC - Hanging Gardens completed. Switch to swordie to escort settler and off barbarians.

Turn 11 390BC - Edo founded, spearman.

Turn 12 370BC - Berlin completes library, switch to aqueduct. Castle gets a second story. Kyoto completes Swordie.

Here I make a decision that I hope is a good one. Kyoto will finish Sun Tzu in 25 turns, whereas Osaka will take another 27 to do it. I decide to set Kyoto to Sun Tzu and Osaka switches over to the Great Lighthouse. Please tell me if this was wise or not.

Turn 13 350BC - Warrior from Tokyo offs two barbs before getting killed. Chivalry discovered, I go for engineering so we can get to Invention. Furville makes temple, switch to Worker. Tokyo builds worker, switch to temple.

Turn 14 330BC swordies move in on barbs.

Turn 15 310BC Rushbuild the spearman in silky smooth so I can keep it protected while the other spearman escorts settler.

Turn 16 290BC Swodie becomes elite after 2 chariots get killed by him on defense. Silky Smooth finishes Spearman, swithc to temple. The persians re-found sidon down at the tip of the continent. F@#%! I didn't make it in time. Decide to take settler and found near enough to it and hope to force a culture flip.

Turn 17 270BC more barbs attack me and are killed, settler moving in on the incense spot. Furville makes worker, switch to Samurai. I'm not sure what to do here so feel free to change this.
Satsuma founded, will wait one turn and rushbuild temple.

Turn 18 250BC berlin celebrates we love shogun day. awww....

Turn 19 230BC Furville's borders expand. Incencible founded, set to worker. Set to temple since the worker will finish before the poppoint does.
Incensible founded.

Turn 20 210BC Dyeville builds temple. Switch to harbor. Road to Edo complete. Rushed temple in satsuma.

The swordie next to the iron and gold is about to be loaded onto the galley so we can look around.
Osaka is 6 turns away from great lighthouse. There's room for maybe 3 or 4 more towns. I switched Furville over to Settler instead of Samurai so we can make another town northwest of Jungle Love. Dyeville is also switched over to settler instead of harbor so we can make a town west of Kyoto but east of Incensible.
Kyoto is 17 turns away from Sun Tzu, although with one worker getting ready to mine one more square it may be sped up a little.

Road to Tokyo is almost complete. Also have a worker making road from Furville to Tokyo that I planned to go through the gems so we get access to those (the worker's currently building a road on the iron).
Road to Silkysmooth done soon.

Engineering next turn, go for invention.
