WM01 - OSG, Japan, Regent, Custom Map

OK looks like I'll give the game a shot. Sounds pretty heavy. Just a word of warning - do NOT trust Persia. At any moment I suspect they will come and attack us. We need to be very ready for them WHEN they come, because it's not a question of IF.

Thank god for Dual monitor, it makes writing these reports much easier.

Received turn at 850AD

1 850AD - I switch the % to science to be as low as it'll go so we still get Nationalism in 1 turn.
It's a good thing we're a religious civ as I think if this war vs. Russia goes on for very long we will need to switch over to something else temporarily.

I notice Berlin is building the Forbidden Palace - I assume this is a place holder for something else.

Lincoln wants like 12g per turn to attack russia, so I will wait until we have more actual gold in treasury and give lump sum before I ally with him.

I move the caravel towards russia. I switch Nara over to a Harbor since it will never grow beyond size 2 unless it gets more food from the sea.

2 860AD - Russia and the Iroquois sign an alliance against us. Sigh....

We get nationalism, I go for steam power. Incsnsible makes Cavalry. Bombard Minsk some more, caravel moves closer.

3 870AD - Bombard russia, nothing much of any importance.

4 880AD - London makes Cathedral, switched to harbor since it's closest port to russia. F@#$ing persians finish Newton's University. I switch kyoto over to a regular university to avoid wasting shields. Land units next to minsk, they have riflemen guarding.

5 890AD - Pre-attack bombardment of Minsk destroys barracks in a stroke of luck. Cavalry offs rifleman, becomes elite, then another cavalry gets offed by a Cossack.

6 900AD Cavalry defends against Cossack, becomes elite, then defends against swordsman, loses 1 life.
Kyoto builds University, switch to cathedral as that should take care of the unhappy citizens and maybe put it in WLTSD.

A freaking REGULAR SPEARMAN offs one of our elite cavalry who was at 4hp, then our last remaining one offs him without losing any life. GRRRRR. We take the city, 2 resistors, I starve population. remaining cavalry is fortified inside city.

Russians attack one of our frigates with theirs, we don't take a scratch.

7 910AD - ARG. Minsk Culture Flips. F@%#. This is not going very well. I decide we're just gonna go straight for Moscow, forget getting a different base of operations.

8 920AD - We are so far behind in tech it's not even funny. Persia's got like 5 of them ahead of us, everone is building Universal Suffrage. The Iroquois land a cavalry and a mounted warrior near Silky Smooth, I off them with the 2 swordsman sitting in Edo. We have steam power, and I'm powering thru to Industrialism in 5 turns.

9 930AD - Russia has Ironclads, they kills one of our frigates.

10 940AD - One ironclad dies to a frigate, then the frigate dies to ANOTHER ironclad.

We're now screwed, as America and the Iroqois sign an alliance against us. All 3 other non-Persian civs are now at war with us.

I decide now we have little hope at an offensive since we're so out-teched, so instead I'm turtling up as best I can. I've got indistrialization, and I'm going for Medicine/Sanitation now so we can get huge cities and hopefully catch up.

I take and auto-raze denver so our continent is clean again.
Berlin changed to Universal suffrage, Kyoto switches to Factory.

11 950AD - Osaka builds Marketplace so everyone's now happy, switch to Factory. Dyeville builds cavalry, switch to rifleman. Furville builds rifleman, switch to marketplace. Edo builds rifleman,
switch to harbor. Satsuma builds rifleman, switch to settler (to fill denver's spot).

The next set of turns is rather uneventful, just me moving lotsa workers and building stuff. One stroke of luck is Furville and Gemville are both able to build the Iron Works, but I decide Furville is a far better candidate due to it's potential for high population growth.

On turn 17 Russia asks for peace for 160g, I give it to them to avoid the headache of citizens going into war weariness soon, although we still have to deal with the americans and the iroquois.

On turn 18 the americans offer peace for 49g and 1gpt... which I take, because I'm in cleanup mode right now. War is not an option for us at this time.

On turn 19 I see some Galleons approaching from Persia... Didn't I tell you this was gonna happen? I send cavalry to intercept in case they land military on our soil....
On turn 20 I make peace with Iroquois for 1gpt and 30g. Now we're at peace again.

We're gonna get sanitation in 2 turns. I suggest we focus on turning our cities into some powerhouses of production and do our best to catch up with the other civs before getting into any more wars.

Finally, the save:

Forgot something- Whoever gets the turn next, switch Furville over to the Iron Works. It's currently building marketplace.

And for those curious, no I did not build all those roads. Someone else seems to have gone road crazy.

never mind, my civ 3 is screwed, so i cant play :(

WarlordMatt said he's going to be gone for a week so he's not going to be here.

Hey, you're still here. Would you still like to to play Persia's Empire before you leave, I think it's your turn.

dunno it seemed like a good map maybe you could go next gunning1 and then ermac then me or summin like that

Bump

I'm already doing another SG and my net access is limited so please skip me, I'll go after gunning mostlikely

Ok, I've got one qusetion. What should I start building more of. Should I build coal plants, marketplaces, or something else?

I'd think marketplaces would be good - we've got so many luxuries it'll keep people happy and also get us more money.

Preturn: Switch Furville to Iron Works.

1. 1050 AD-Kyoto produces Factory-starts marketplace. The Iroquis offer A peace treaty for a peace treaty, 38 Gold, and 1 GPT. I say no.
2. 1060 AD-Learn Sanitation, Persian Settler lands on the spot that we took American city off of. Culture expands in Edo.
3. 1070 AD-Persia signs a trade embargo with Iroquis against us.
4. 1080 AD-Kyoto Produces Marketplace, start Hospital. Osaka produces Factory start bank. Silky Smooth produces Settler start Marketplace.
5. 1090 AD-Buy Free Artistry for 11 gold from Persia.
6. 1100 AD-Toyko is settled. Declare war on Persia.
7. 1110 AD-Destroy one of Persia's cities.
8. 1120 AD-Kyoto produces Hospital, start bank.
9. 1130 AD-Gemville produces Library, start Marketplace.
10. 1140 AD-London produces Aqueduct, start Marketplace. Osaka produces Bank, start, Hospital. Destroy of of Persia,s cities.

Notes:
I know you said not to start anymore wars with anyone, but I just couldn't let them stay on our continent. Also there are three cavalry down south that are going to take out that city, so keep them there, but there are two workers that are down there that need transportation, so bring them back up. I was only able to play 10 turns because my wrist hurts real bad, and it is hard to type.
Tell me if you want the save in Zip.
