WNES 7: After Collapse

To: South Africa
From: Abysinia

I believe that you are mistaken. I was refering to Malawi. While you have been rightiously spreading democracy, it has only been in the mainland. Ihad no reason to believe that you wanted Madagascar, if you had, I would havve thought you would have invaded shortly after Australia left. On the other hand, Malawi seems desperate enough to stay away from your armies that as soon as it reaches the coast it will try to expand to offsoare islands in an attempt to put a barrier between them and you. If you are willing to recreate the African Union than I am more than happy to join you.

To: Congo, Nigeria, Ghana, Mauritania, West African States
From: Abyssinia

We once again reach out to you to join with us in recreating the African Union. It would be beneficial for us all. Imagine, as Europe, America, and Asia bicker over land and territory, killing each other left and right, we will be united in building Africa into the grand superpower the Lord meant it to be. United, none will be able to stand in our way! I implore you, join with us and bring Africa into a new golden age!

To Abyssinia
From South Africa

Very well, we did not invade Madagascar because we were unsure as to wether this would end up being a fight between Austalia and ourselves and Mawali had appeared on our northern border.

We accept your offer for an alliance.

From the CSA to the ESA and PSA

We wish to sign this pact as well.

I could send a squad of soldiers Alex, but they'll have to promised RoP to your presidential/dictatorial office so they can do their job. :)

Warman, why isn't my project at two turns? I did start it at the beginning of the game and the rules specifically state that we do not need to order work on it, bit confused here.

When the news was read allowed to the council hushed silence fell. It had happened, it had finally happened, the King was bringing back the African Union! If the king had revived the African Union, the opposition party members thought, then mabey his majesty wasn't as bad as he seemed. If all of this had come under the transition to Judaism, mabey Judaism was the right path for Abyssinia. As the Representatives thought this over, someone finally spoke up. It was a young Representative from the Addis Abbaba province. He stood tall and confident and first glance, but at another look, he obviously had nerves racing through him, as this was his first time adressing the Council. But, his voice still rang out loud and true as if being carried around the room by a flock of a thousand doves. "I am a Christian. I was born a Christian, and I always thought that I would die a Christian. And yet, our king has brought more good to this nation in less time than any of the politicians and warlords ever did before the collapse and after. But what is the difference? All the others were intelligent. Most had the best of the people in their hearts and the will to do what was neccessary to make things happen. The difference, as I see it, is thta he has accepted the faith of Abbysinia's founders. As of this moment, I am rejecting the Church and accepting the Lord of Israel as my lord!" When he finished many other young Representatives jumped up to declare their rejection, or loyalty, to the Church. But all the older Representatives knew that this was just the foolishness of youth. Wether they were Christian, Jewish, or Muslim, they had lived long enough to know that G-d did not intervene in the affairs of man over something so trivial as a treaty. They knew that it was not G-d, but the cunning of their leader and that of South Africa's that caused this alliance to take form. But, as most of them saw it, whatever got the young to know what it was like to have nationalistic fervfor runing through your veins was good. If the king could get a treaty and inspire the youth to be patriotic, then mabey having him on the thrown was a good thing.

It is with great joy that I inform you that the Council of Abyssinia has agreed to this venture that you and I have undertaken. For the glory of Africa!

As Sanilwabene walked through the streets he could feel the tension in the air, and yet, it didn't seem to have an effect. The king had brougth back the African Union, and while some still didn't particularly like him, most of the people seemed only to care that Africa may finally be rising out of the ashes of colonialism, all thanks to their king. Sanilwabene has seen the effects himself, three out of four of his own brothers had left the Church to join the King in reverting to Judaism. He himself was seriously considering it. After listening to what the rabbis said about Judaism, and after seeing the African Union brought back, the temptatinos were almost too much. But could he really leave the Church? After the Collapse, that ws all he had, but now, it seemed that it migth have all been a lie. As Sanilwabene continued to think, he noticed that his favorite bar was open for those wishing to celebrate the refounding of the African Union. He figured something to calm him down couldn't hurt and walked in.

ooc Warman... I sent a PM to you a while back regarding some intel I needed...

OOC: I am hostile to the name Lei Fai, Fai sounds like fat in Cantonese and Lei sounds like you in Cantonese as well, meaning you fat... :( anyway i can change the name? and here is the first long story in one post in this nes :D

President Lei Fai of the the Federal Democratic Republic of China writing in his private journal. VERY PRIVATE

“20 years ago in my youth after the fall of the World Government I was able to seize control of the surrounding areas of Hong Kong as well as the city with my position as Head of the Police. I managed to convince several other like minded “Warlords” to join together to form a Republic after defeating them in a series of battles leading up to Taiwan’s joining of our Republic at 5 AC.”

“A few years after the forming of our glorious Republic and the initial elections, General Shi Hwangdang, leader of the “Republic of Shanghai” attacked us with no reason. Oh yes, there was a reason. I know there was, we are one of the few beacons of democracy in this world. He was a dictatorship of course he wanted to quash us. But he underestimated the resolve and strength of the Free Chinese People as he was used to the glum of the farmers and peasants in Central China, not the strong and intelligent people of Southern China.”

“It is said by a philosopher long ago that the pen is mightier then the sword in times of both peace and war. I have not heard a wise saying. The sword may be able to shatter the pen, but it cannot shatter what the pen has done. It was the speeches, the papers, and the patriotic defenders of Chinese Democracy that put faith into the Heart of the People to allow us to defeat Shanghai in battle. Democracy is the way of the future, I have not shunned from it since I first became a Warlord.”

“It is a wonder, how quickly people adapt to new situations and surroundings. The Heart of the Democratic Republic of China is after all Guangdong Province and with it the language of Cantonese is the official language of the Republic. It is amazing how the other people of the Republic have so quickly mastered its use since the formation of the Republic 15 years ago. Cantonese is now spoken throughout the Democratic Republic as well as a large minority in neighboring Republic of Shanghai for commercial reasons. Cantonese is after all, the lingua franca of overseas Chinese in Malaysia, Singapore, Borneo, Former United States, Argentina, India, and parts of Europe.”

“The Chinese exodus is much larger and widespread then that of the Jewish exodus due to a few factors. My people are much more numerous, wealthy, and hard-working then most of the native inhabitants. A hard working farmer from Central China upon moving to the Western Portion of the Former United States could possibly become a wealthy restaurant chain owner in 20 years. It is with pride that I see the hard work of my people pay off. Any people of Han ethnicity all over the world can expect protection from the Democratic Republic regardless of their citizenship. You are Chinese no matter where you are born, where you are raised. You are still one of us, the largest population in the world.”

Strangely, a few days after the above entries were written they gained their way into the Public where the newspapers made a small fortune publishing the journal entries and it soon became a habit for the President. To write in his journal and publish it.

To the ESA
Would you sign a defensive pact with us? We wish to make money, not war.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

The banker sighed.
It had been a good year for Canadian bankers in Regina, Edmonton and Winnipeg to Thunder Bay. In the immediate military victory against the Canadian warlords they seemed to have gotten drunk on champagne and had spent the following year dancing 'rhumba rhumbla' when not plotting evil plans celebrate their greatness. In the meantime economic development in the entire nation had ground to a halt. In a glimmer of hope however an interstate highway had been constructed to connect all communities as far as Meadow Lake up north with St. Louis in the south.
Normally the customers would have rushed the bank and depleted it of all cash deposits but the CSA army had prevented such riots from occuring. He himself however, a low-key whitecoat had been free to embezzle bank assets as well as not pay his taxes. He'd used to pay his taxes to the local warlord, Chief Snugglyput but Luke Ackerman seemed less worried about such trivial aspects of life.

All of this was changing however.
The Republican Party of Central America had just passed the 'post-war tax & tribunal' act in a controversial but popular move to liquidate the assets of the bank and expanding southern branches of the financial banking conglomerates and IRS northwards immediately. The bank he worked at would no longer be named 'Regina Bank' but rather 'Philips & Co.' or 'CSA Banking'.

This wasn't what worried him however. He had just been called by the local police officer, he'd told him some state troopers were on their way over to pick him up. Something about 'fraud', his friend had adviced him to make a run for it.

But his wife and kid? He couldn't just leave them in this apartment, nor could he just stuff them into a car and force them eastwards to abandon all they had held dear in their life. They'd fought for a place in this community, his sweet wife would never agree to leave her childhood home in a disgraceful way.

And that's how they found him several minutes later, drinking a cup of coffee and making a list of all the colleagues and bosses he had ever suspected of suspicious activities in the last year.

President Lei Fai, former Lei Fai that is due to him having changed his name to Li Peng continues to write in his journal.

“Today wasn’t the perfect ideal day I had a huge argument with the head of some obscene department who’s in charge of records. Apparently he doesn’t like me changing my name saying that he would have to change everything with my signature on it. When I told him it was his responsibility to change it whether he liked it or not and apparently he’s VERY, VERY slow. He demanded a BRIBE, from me! The President of the Democratic Republic! His boss! And he demanded a bribe! I of course stared at him and demanded his resignation. He apparently said who do you think you are which was I was too pleased to tell him. The President of the Republic! His face was extremely shocked.”

“In light of that event, I ordered an investigation into the officials of the government as well as into their bank accounts to make sure that no sudden large amounts of money were deposited. Hopefully this will decrease corruption throughout the Republic as well as encouraging more investors to come to our peaceful Republic. Foreign Chinese born in more tranquil areas have returned to their ancestral China to build homes as well as fund schools.”

“Oh yes, and my darling wife has decided it would be a good idea to host a banquet for all the Senators in my house in Hong Kong giving the position of the guest of honor to the Senator that appointed the stupid man in charge of that obscene record naming department! Gahh, it’s not all that bad but the few that are bad are enough to drive me mad. It’s hard to believe after so many anti-corruption campaigns there are still corrupt Senators! The Senator of Shenzhen drives me crazy to no end! I hope he gets struck by lightening!”

It was to be a splendid day. News reporters from across the Republic, even a few from their communist neighbors, had arrived to cover the departure of Australia's first Maglev. The train had yet to be ridden by any passenger, and gleamed with freshness. As was customary, the President would hail off this behemoth of a transport, cristening it and giving a political speech. All around the station had been decorated in the national colors of the Republic with flags waving all around. It was 15 minutes until the train would depart and the National Transit Authority had no intentions of running late, so they signaled for President Adam Farrington to begin his speech.

"Good afternoon ladies and gentleman" he began. "Today we are to celebrate the unification of the Republic through transportation by riding aboard the first Maglev ever to run on the Australian continent. This train not only signifies our unity, it is a symbol of our perseverance forward after the collapse of the Earth Federation, of our advanced technology, and of our ever growing economy. Together we have brought barbaric lands within the Pacific under our control, creating a Common Wealth of the Pacific Islands if you will. Now, as I realize I have begun to overshadow this momentus occasion, I christen this train in the name of the Republic." A light applause broke out and the President, along with his guests and security, boarded the train.

Entering a private compartment, President Farrington met with 3 of his guests, the presidents of biotech, computer development, and military development firms. "Now as you all know, this Maglev is only the beginning of a massive project. The Republic's economy lags behind what it was prior to the Earth Federation, and I will not stand for it. This maglev system will bring workers from across the republic to the factories, offices, and testing sites that you construct. It had already passed through the House to grant you government subsidies and tax breaks for 20 years, provided that you construct at least two sites within the Republic. I hope to see your buildings up and running soon within our nation, but if you'll exscuse me, we have arrived at station." Amazingly enough, they had. It took no time at all to travel the distance of Sydney to Canberra, and also kept and disagreements over the subject.
