Workers of the world, unite! [RFC RAND]

Interturn: The Turks attack our stack near Istanbul and kill almost all of our units. It seems our highly-advanced troops were no match to a mass onslaught of cavalry

Turn 6 - (1963): Moskva, Novgorod, Smolensk, Artshat all build tanks.
It seems that the Chinese have tanks as well, one is spotted in Luoyang. Our spy steals Computers from the Dutch, so all these cities actually build MBTs.
Great Spy born in Nodygrad, he will stay in Moskva until we urgently need espionage points from someone.
I launch an ICBM near Hangzhou so that our Chinese-front stack won't suffer the fate of the Turkish-front stack.

Interturn: The Turks and the Chinese both attack us but there are no losses on our side.

Turn 7 - (1964): Ecology is in, Stealth is next (6) For superior aircraft. I change espionage towards Portugal because they have Superconductors and Refrigeration, send both spy and great spy to Berlin.
Our stack near Hangzhou attacks and we inflict heavy casualties on the weakened Chinese army, but their large number of troops means that it's going to take a while to take it.

Turn 8 - (1965): Global Warming strikes near Archangelsk. Most cities are building MBTs, Jaroslavl still producing nukes and just finished another ICBM.
Hangzhou will probably be captured on the next turn.

Turn 9 - (1966): Hangzhou is captured, our main stack stays there to heal while a few Tanks will take care of Luoyang. China is willing to Capitulate and give us Luoyang, but we don't need anymore vassals in Asia.

Turn 10 - (1967): Luoyang declares independence, thankfully we're at war and our tanks aren't pushed away.

Notes:
Luoyang will be taken on the next turn, should probably raze or at least give to the Khmer.
After our main stack at Hangzhou is ready, move together with the tanks that are spread across former China to the north, and take Hancheng.
New units should be sent to Turkey, after we have a few MBTs there we can easily take Istanbul. Don't be afraid to use an ICBM to kill all of the defenders like I did, some fallout doesn't hurt too much.
We have to move fast and conquer a lot of territory in order to win, we need 8.5% of land and 4.5% of population to win in 53 turns.

So China is basicly out and Turkey didn't seem that strong!:D This will be semi-easy and fun, though we do need another vassal. I am thinking France, other european nation or Turkey. Onedreamer is up!

We need a new world vassal.
The AI likes to hide its stack of doom and hit you from nowhere. I would have scouted out the Turks with an airship (that is why I always keep at least one airship which has the widest flight range other than a stealth bomber) and nuked their stack to capitulate them.

Onedreamer doesn't seem to be around, I think it's soon APs turn.

BTW, I can only play tomorrow and after that next monday.

You know, in my haste to play the new RAND, I deleted the old RAND folder! :( And I can't load the save with the new one. Looks like you guys will have to do domination without me.

Okey, so AP is out. If onedreamer doesn't show up, I'll play on sunday/monday. If somebody wants to play before me, be my guest, I can also be last on the next round.

I can't play until Monday, either, so go ahead Jusos (if onedreamer hasn't taken the save). I will be able to take my turn soon after you, I think.

I also moved to new RAND for a game, but kept the old folder and as long as I remember to switch back to it, I will be fine.

0. Moved troops from Leningrad towards Buryngrad and moved the blocking ships around.

Interturn: nothing

Interturn: GGunit is killed by Chinese tank

2. New stack arrives at Buryngrad and most of the units are upgraded

Interturn: work boat destroyed by a Turkish Frigate, China collapses

3. We get Stealth next Robotics, UN resolution for open markets put forward. We capture Bukhara and Hangcheng, new GG is born, airforces from China are sent to bomb the Turks.

Interturn: UN resolution fails

4. Great Spy born in Artashat, other GS infiltrates Portuguese Berlin, stack approaches Istanbul, new MBTs join it every turn.

9. UN resolution, I choose to vote for nuke building ban, stacks arrive at Izmir and Babili, more spies to Berlin

Interturn: Our destroyer sinks a Turkish Destroyer, Nuke-ban fails by a 100 votes
Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0118-1.jpg

10. We raze Izmir and capture Babilon, MBTs towards Alanya and stack towards Persepolis.

Notes:
-Our stability is getting weaker, we should liberate cities to our vassals and build stability improving buildings in the cities we keep, I noticed that some of our cities don't have Security Bureaus. Also razing cities should be avoided.
Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0122.jpg

-We are 1% short from population and 4,8% short from land

Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0121.jpg

When the Chinese cities grow back we'll get the population. We just need 1 more vassal and maybe a great artist for a 4000 culture frontier city in Siberia.
Don't collapse Turkey, that'll raise the land requirement again. In fact, the best thing for us now would be a German respawn (of course we need to be solid for us not to lose any cities).

Got it, but can't open it yet. Looks exciting from the report. I don't think I've ever used MBTs before.

Noted: I should take care of stability, no razing, which means choosing conquests carefully (right?) to get over the land area threshold. And will make sure stability buildings are completed until we are solid.

To avoid a collapse of Turkey, perhaps I should stop the advance soon? now? Turkey anywhere near capitulating?

Will play tomorrow.

Yes you should stop pretty soon, maybe take Alanya first, not sure. I doubt that Turkey will capitulate even after taking Alanya, they are/were the second largest empire just couple turns ago. They might capitulate if we rampage around and kill lots of their units, because it's the power that determines whether to capitulate or not, rather than land.

It's actually OK if Turkey collapses, because their culture is prevent us from expanding our territory. With all the other collapsed civs, there's a good chance one of them will respawn soon (just hope it's not Mongolia or China).
After the Turks collapse, maybe we can liberate some cities and improve our stability. Also, we need a little more population, so if our conquered cities shrink that's bad.
When conquering cities, switch to occupation, then switch back to Viceroyalty the next turn.

(This is a report on the first 4 turns of my set. Will be back with the rest soon.)

Chairman Andropov took control of the party in 1977. He presented his war plan to the generals - to prepare for a simultaneous strike on six or seven Turkish cities at once - and this plan was adopted with little dissent; the year for the strike was set tentatively at 1981 or 1982.
In 1980, General Archangelsky, frustrated at the inefficiency of non-military leadership, arranged for the assassination of Andropov and seized control of the Party. On becoming Chairman, he stengthened the medical capabilities of the armed forces, and adopted the doctrine (from his aide Anopacisky) of alternating Viceroyalty and military Occupation in his handing of new territory gained in the Turkish War.

Press Enter.

IBT
Peace with Netherlands is cancelled.

1978 (1)
Robotics > Laser (in 7). Sell Ecology to France and Japan for 440g.
Production of mechanised infantry units and stealth bombers begins.
A severe shortage of medic units is noted; one regiment of infantry with medic attachment is sent from Beijing to Turkish front. Opasnost Pticy infantry, the only other medic regiment, returns to Istanbul for upgrade to mech infantry.
The roads around Ur are destroyed, to reduce chances of Turkish attack on healing units in Babilon.

IBT
Turkey makes peace with the Netherlands.

1979 (2)
Portugal is unstable and may not last, so spy steals Refrigeration in Berlin now (this was wise, see 1980), for 30% discount
Open borders with France, trade football events for 10gpt.

IBT
Turkey signs a defensive pact with the Netherlands. Former New France renounces ties with France and becomes USA. Ethanol Co. is founded in Kyouto, Japan.
General Arkhangelsky becomes Chairman: all gunpowder units promoted to 'March'.

1980 (3)
Switch to Viceroyalty (as all cities but Babilon are now out of Occupation); will switch back in 1982, when the all-out offensive is unleashed.
Sign defensive pact with India (to attempt to improve stability, now at -7).

IBT
Portugal refuses to accept wine for spices, but will take silk for spices.USA builds two casings for spaceship.
Germany unifies again, and takes no Russian cities. Portugal declares war on them. (We now need 32% population, not 31% as it was before their respawn ).

1981 (4) (stab -10)
Carrier complete in Azov, allowing more bombing capacity.
Start Red Cross in Artashat (not likely to need it, but these were Chairman Arkhangelsky's orders ).
Another Great Scientist. We now have two.

Units are in place, and bombing has eliminated defences in in-range Turkish cities. The stage is set for the massive simultaneous bombing, shelling, and capture of 7 Turkish cities in 1982. My plan is to keep 5 (Pathragada, Persepolis, Alanya, Eridu, Mekke) and to raze 2 (Ur and Iskenderun). I hope this will (under Occupation) give a boost to stability, and when they come out of disorder and grow in culture, it may give us our victory. Or at least put us closer.

The plan for A-day (1 January 1982)
Workers1981_A-Day.jpg

Looking good, I love your fantastic story-telling skills, and the way you present your battleplans, and game-wise we're doing excellent too.

If those cities won't give us the % we need, we could go to Egypt as well I think, or India if they aren't too advanced.

It's not a matter where we can go as we could take the whole world, rather how our stability will react to futher acquisitions.

Danger Bird you should advance slowly and check the stability after every city, leave Mekke and Iskenderum last, as we might not want to take/raze them yet.

Blitz usually works. India is close by. After Turkey capitulates or collapses, I would nuke several Indian cities, capture 1 or 2, then they'll capitulate (and they're good for some 3-4% of land).

Ok, I have finished the turns, and will post in a few minutes.

Unfortunately, Jusos, I was unable to take your advice as I had done my blitz before you posted. And, yes, stability is the big issue now.

1981-82 IBT
We join Portugal in a war on Germany. (An impulsive move to take back our former vassal :mischief:). Luck is on our side as there is a revolt in München at the same time.

UN Resolution: We select Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty again.

Spy in Gênes steals Fibre Optics from the French.
The majority of offensive forces are being sent to Moskva, as a base for dealing with any independence movements or (Lenin help us) collapse.

The situation now:

We have 34.55% pop (over the required 32%), and 24.12% land (just shy of the 25% required). Next turn, Mekke will come out of disorder and Babilon will expand, then in each of the next turns another city will come out of disorder.

1987 (0): Check stuff around to make sure everything is fine, then press enter.

1988 (1): Some cities finish military stuff, and start to build supermarkets and industrial . As UN secretary-general I propose a vote for world-wide free religion. Our Land % jumps up to 24.74, but our stability drops to -24 . I move some troops towards independent Mersin. If we don't pop any borders next turn, taking it will give us victory (and may improve our stability too). On the other hand I check Mekke's progress and it'll pop its borders next turn :p.

1989 (2): Mekke pops its borders, Alanya and Persepolis come out of revolt, and we win!!
