World of Tanks Beta

So I am getting the KV soon and I have a Valentine(light tank) with 90% exp. So would that mean that if I retrained them with rapid courses they would get 54% (60% of 90)? And with regimental school they would get 72% (80%)? Or would they automatically be brought up to 75% in that case?

Also do you think it would be better for me to wait untill the KV is split up into different models as i understand they are about to do? Maybe I should just get the 85mm gun for the T28 while I wait, though I feel it would be a waste of exp.

You want the KV with the KV2 turret reserch so you will get a free slot and a free tank.
Those leveling after us will have an extra tier of tank to level through since IS4 is being tweaked and pushed up from its tier9 to tier10

T-28 I used the 47mm and never got around to playing with the 85mm but given that everyone was relatively low level i got away with this. I played the T-28 as a fast assault gun sniping targets at range and using its speed for flanking.

My IS3 aka my money losing machine D:

Its worse then the IS seriously as its 100mm armor is just plain rubbish plus its stock up is the same 122mm the KV3 (three tiers lower uses). Iam tempted to blow all my free exp for the turret but the better gun is still out of reach for me. (IS3 saving grace)

Its very strong turret armor is useless as the gun depression is useless for turreting down.

Just to point it out: Luchs to Leopard isn't changing class (both are light tanks).

@FF, I'm sure that is all intentional so you give in an go premium just to raise experience and creds to buff out the tank to be competetive.

My understanding is it would be a minimum of 75% for paying the 20k fee. But again, what I would do in your case is set the tank for accelerated crew training, and get them to a full 100% so you can get to pick a crew skill for the members, and THEN re-train them to the other tank. While you will still take the 20% hit for moving to a different class of vehicle, you will still get to keep the additional skill for hitting 100% training.

As to the KV, I dont see a reason to wait, as you'll probably keep the tank a good long while if you want to open up the arty tree on it as well.

@FF. You've been around long enough to know that stock anything sucks. When I get a new chassis I almost always use up some free exp to get it out of stock. My component upgrade path is usually suspension, gun (unless turret is needed for gun, then turret), engine, radio.

For example, I spent the time researching the 122mm gun on my KV3 for the simple reason I knew I would be using it for my IS. Once I unlocked my IS, I used some free xp for the suspension and turret, slapped the 122mm gun on it from my KV3 and now I have like an 80% win rate in my IS (so far, I know that wont last).

No Gold for free exp.

My pool of 24,000 free exp isnt even close to me getting the better gun. Guess Iam going to have to suck down a lot of games with the stock gun. I think the fact Iam struggling so hard is the tank is being thrown into a lot of high tier battles. While the KV, KV3 are overpowered for their tier. The IS3 feels like a step down since its only saving grace is the new gun.

Back to playing it like a fast Assault gun with high HP count. I learnt the hard way how fragile the 100mm "sloped" front armor is. Its kinda rough when your team expects you to lead an attack but dont understand how even a shermanE8 can punch through your front.

Sniping is the way to go.

Well, KV, KV3 suck with stock stuff too. Your just stuck in the overlap period of being in stock. Which is probably be design to be honest to encourage peeps to buy gold and use it to convert xp over.

But I know what you mean. In my KV with the 107mm and my KV with the 122mm, I dont really 'fear' a tank unless its a tier 8 German, or tier 9 or 10 USSR/American. Everything else I can damage pretty well with those guns. But it certainly does suck trying to level that KV up so I can get the S-51 if I end up in a lot of tier 9 fights.

I dont disagree with the sniping...generally from the side of the map you expect mediums to rush from. Smaller targets, lesser armor and fewer hitpoints means at least a few kills. See a lot of lead tanks on a side saying 'stock gun here so dont expect much' or something similar. No worries.

I did take advantage of the 50% off equipment and bought most of my tanks rammers to increase their firing rate.

Also, check your depot as they added 5 of each nations +10% consumable to your inventory. You got 5 field rations for the Russians, 5 Chocolate bars for the Germans and 5 cases of Coca-cola for the US.

I also got to take huge advantage of the x5 weekend bonus. I somehow managed to set my high exp record in my M6 on Saturday and got just under a 2600 exp game multiplied x5 to end up with almost 13,000 exp in one game. Then the next night I almost did it again in the M6 with another 11,555 exp game. Bottom line, I only played 18 games in my M6 when I unlocked my T29 and sold my M6 off. Yahoo!

I went with the discount premium (3 days for 1 day) plus did buy a lot of the equipment.
Got my Leopard with camouflage, periscope, and ventilation.
Got my M2 medium with rammer, gun mechanism, and camouflage.
Researched the Lee straight to M4 after spending lots of gold on converting experience; Also got the M4 up to howitzer and nearly elite (would have liked the discount rammer for the howitzer, but ran out of time).
Also bought the premium German light tank (Hotchkiss) and thought it kind of lame but it's good for farming experience to convert with gold; something like 800 experience per win and a win is pretty much guaranteed against tier 1 and tier 2 enemies.

EDIT: Just got the Tier 6 gun for the M4. Very sweet gun. Not more trying for flank shots with a howitzer (though that is kind of fun).

I brought 2x rammers 2x vents into my storage to be installed at a later date when I've unlocked my IS4 tank and T54. I also bought 2x camo and 1x repair kit. (no gold for moving around locked equipment) Had 26,000 left in credits after buying that lot but its a good investment.

IS3 BL9 gun is pretty good gun. Except that it occasionally gets those eye rolling "crits" and "bounces".

Main issue has been some terriable teams as of late. Nothing like getting a top gun and sniper archivements and still having your team lose. Othertimes I follow a higher tier tank into some horrid tatical situations and go down doing nothing. Learnt to follow my instincts and not the directions of whomever has the biggest tank around. I pretty much have the IS3 down now its a good heavy tank with the new gun.

FF, tell me about it. I see a shocking number of noobish lemming all right/left rush tactics that very rarely win. Or whats even worse, are the guys that apprently are so bad, they hardly have any credits to their name to keep their tank repaired, so they sit back and risk nothing, even if it means the difference in losing/winning a game. Several times I have seen these cowards hide out when they could have reset a flag capture to win us the game.

Although I am spreading my games out as opposed to spiking up one tech tree, I am doing much better at this point than I did in beta. Lessons learned I guess, although I would like to see my survivability percent climb up some.

Campinova a story of TK

It all started out with an Assault Gun (jadgPanther) accidently ramming a low tier artillary on our team. Immediately tracking him and taking his HP down to 85% What must have been the artillary players friend in a Heavy announced in chat that slow Artillary had the right of way and then decided to take a shot at our AG friend.

Our AG wasnt having any of this and turned hes bigger 88mm gun and let the heavy that shot him have one back. Thinking that was the end of it he turned away only to have the heavy decide that the back of the AG was an ideal target and procceded to shoot the poor AG repeatly in the back. Despite protest to stop shooting he went on the Team Kill the Jagdpanther.

Our AG driver now dead started to protest in chat accusing the Heavy and demanding retribution. Several others having witness the whole thing chimed in and in the end another heavy decided to kill off the TK.

And so we started down an AG, a Heavy and damaged Arty.
Needless to say we lost

I couldnt stop launghing.

Not to mention 3 or 4 people could earn a 3 day ban from all that. The WoT people take a grim view of tking and team damaging. The heavy was guilty for shooting the AG, but the AG was guilty for firing back, then whoever on the team that TKed the heavy were guilty as well.

Game rules are pretty clear that tking a tker isnt a valid response to a tk. Most times it just simply inflames the situation and makes it even worse. Your're supposed to just not respond, take a SS and report it.

My 2nd wittermans medal.
A very tough battle in which I was the sole survivor.

That's impressive stuff FF :)

I had a really good run last night and managed to raise my victory percentage from 56% to 58%. Mostly with T-28 and T-34 with some A-32 thrown in.

Shelled some gold for premium time to speed up my KV grind.

It's true that there are still loads of players who stumble at basic stuff. Every day I see panzers fighting with their weak side armor exposed to the enemy, scouts stopping to fight mediums or even heavies. Proper communication is always worth it if you have time for it. Some teams I've been in have managed victories from improbable situations when ppl have started communicating.

Woot! Got my KV last night. First heavy that I didn't buy outright.

It's a pile of junk stock...of course.

Pretty close to researching an easy-eight too, but I'm thinking I don't need another tank right now.

You can make it passable by installing suspension and 122mm gun. I got my KV aswell and 107mm gun on it already. And it's just as sweet as it was during beta.

Had one of my best games in ages last night. Platooned with two friends. My T-28, and the others in SU-26 and Pz III. Sand river, All of our team went defensive, and I was the only one going to the left side of the map, First came a BT-7 and I immediately gave chase. Then my SU-26 friend oneshotted him from full speed. I turned back, trying to get back to the road that passes through the plateau on the left. And then I was facing most of the enemy team. I dug in and prevented them from advancing, and in the meanwhile my friend in SU-26 rained death on them. In the end the three of us killed 13 of the enemy team while the rest of our team was too scared to leave the base. 5 kills + Scout medal for me, 6 kills with Top gun for the SU-26 and 2 kills for our Pz III.

My victory ratio rose to 60%, but I don't expect it to stay there.

Thats actually really good. Mine had held steady at 56% until the last couple of days. All of a sudden I have had a big run of bad, bad luck. For example, had a 0-10 streak in trying to get a daily double win out of my A32. Ugh. So it dropped to 55%...still respectable, but I certainly want to get it back up again.

Still losing a lot of games because its a team game, but sometimes it seems people have no clue as to tactics, or they just dont care. Even had a game where a guy tked our only arty because 'hey, he is a guildmate of mine, and we're just having fun so chill out'. Also, seeing far too many games where almost every player goes to one side in a massive lemming rush only to stop and then leave the other flank totally open. This usually results in a loss where our team might have more actual kills, but the enemy just walks in and caps the flag due to little or no defense.

Some days this game can be hugely frustrating.
