Everyone is familiar with this penalty...

1. Is it permanent? I made a big mistake... isolated map, caravels sailing around, hit a few civs, traded some techs, and turns out that I upset the Christian bloc on the same street.

2. Do open borders cause this penalty to appear?

1. No, although there seems to be an element of randomness with regard to how long it stays. It should gradually disappear, but it can take a VERY long time.

2. No. You can trade for resources without penalty too.

Are you sure that's right ? The OB part - yes. But i think trading ressurces will give "traded with worst enemy"
