Worst rock bands

A thread about the worst rock band is not complete without at least a mention to Nickelback and all similar abominations.

Eh, all the bands you guys and dolls are mentioning were at least good enough to become known to a rather large audience. I really have no idea of the name of the worst rock band I've ever heard, but I sort of remember when and where I was when I heard them. It was at a bar in the greater Kansas City area somewhere in the late 90s. The singer was drunk and slurring his lyrics and the drummer was... well was just crap. I felt pretty sorry for the two guitar dudes who actually didn't do half bad, but couldn't possibly dream of making up for the crappy singer and drummer.

I'll take that over Nickelback.

^The OP specifically calls only for naming rock bands which at least have a record/video ;)

Oh bah, fine. Lemme think... well I was gonna go with Milli Vanilli, but they're pop, not rock. Dang it, this is hard.

Okay, fine, other than one or two songs, I have never liked U2. At all. So they get my initial vote, but I'll change my mind later.
Spoiler :
I seriously considered going with The Ian Pearson Band since technically sort of had their own video that appeared within Money For Nothing, but since it was a fake thing created for the Dire Straits video, I didn't think you'd approve. ;)
I'll take that over Nickelback.

That video was faked? :(

Makes sense, though. MTV at the time would not risk getting sued :D

But that is the most hilarious part of that video.

I agree on U2 being horribly awful. I think the two songs of theirs i like somewhat are the theme track from Batman something, and "Your Blue Room", which iirc also was made for a film.

Achtung Baby was a brilliant album but ever since then they have been releasing things that I hear maybe every 10 years. And usually there is 1 song or so every 10 years that I like. That's not a very good track record, but they can't be the worst rock band, because.. Achtung Baby.

At least all their songs vary here and there. There are bands out there that release the same song over and over, under a new name.

Then again The Edge is hardly an actual guitarist of note. He mostly is a special guitar effects guy. Many songs just have him playing literally the same chord for the entire song, but the effects twist it around.

:)

I liked Zooropa (the track from the eponymous album) cause it is a wall of sound but a bit more interesting than the usual Edge wall of sound.

This video even has that awesomest actor of all time :D

Sean Bean> all other actors.

Oh yeah, The Edge is known to be the greatest fraud in Rock n' Roll among all guitar players.

U2 is massively overrated, and I strongly dislike them. But wouldn't call them the worst by any any metric. Because Nickelback.

They're not the worst but Bono being a smug, pompous jerk sure doesn't help their image.

I consider someone who is self righteous as being inherently jerkish. Jerk is a catch-all term for me that can refer to a wide variety of odious personality traits. If we're getting specific, yeah, his persona comes off as self-righteous and just this side of arrogant.

One flaw with people's choices in this thread is that most people are limiting their choices to very famous bands like U2, Nickleback or Kings of Leon. While you don't have to endure non-famous bands near as much on the radio, they can easily suck just as much, often cases more.

The 'worst rock band ever' is probably a group of higschoolers that barely know how to even play and can't write anything coherent. In other words, people that can't make money, certainly not enough for an actual living, off their music.
