Would it be weird/creepy if.....

I actually read a thread in another forum on exactly this about a guy who did this and who had some friends that said it was creepy. The general judgment was that it's not that bad as long as it's not extensive dossiers as you called them, that makes it creepy. Short contact info with some facts to remember isn't bad.

You have way way too much time on your hands, I can never remember when the members of my own family have their birthdays, much less my friends.

They used to be upset, but now they know I cant be bothered to know stuff like that, so they dont call/send birthday cards to me either, which suits me fine.

How can you find the time to do something so boring, and why?

It's nice to keep a memory file of people you have known, but deliberately hunting for as much information as possible... that borders on obsession...

Creepy, no. If it got out, yes.

It would be rather pointless. People seem to enjoy putting sensitive information about themselves online (facebook, blogs, etc.)

My Outlook address book is pretty useful though... what with having 5,000 people in my company. ;)

Name, address, phone number, birthday, spouse's name... those things aren't really creepy. Go beyond that, and I'm pretty sketched out. If you can't remember it, well, it's not really worth writing down, either.

Meh, who cares? Do whatever you want. If you have a file on me, then i'll make a file on you :p

I do it to people i want to screw over, if you really want to flip them out, turn on a recorder device and ask them if they mind (assuming that you do not want to talk to them)

It wouldn't be very wierd. But i don't see any use for this database.

I do write a few things about some of my friends down, but what i write has an immediate use ... and besides, i only wrote about 5 rows of text in 1 month. :crazyeye:

I save emails and chat transcripts to my hard drive. Mostly to read when ever I am bored.

They will consider you weird and creepy, I expect.

Would it be weird/creepy if.....
Not necessarily, it would depend on what you do with those files. However gathering information about your friends behind their backs, isnt exactly 'friendliness', on your part.
