No, one prefers the present state of affairs. This flawed body has served me well; Hell, it is me! I just do not like the notion, and cannot see any benefits to it that could attract me to it.
Isn't the correct term "upload"? Wouldn't one upload to a computer and download from it? Or am I confused?
That said, I wouldn't put my mind into a computer. What if someone breaks into it at some point? I would accept the implants, though (as long as they weren't networked in some way. Do you want people browsing your mind? If you ever got famous, the media would probably hire hackers and you would see adds like "The president had an unclean thought while he was in a very important meeting. Is this grounds for impeachment? The Speaker of the House says it is! You decide when you see the thought yourself on Eyewitness News at 6")
Any information collected is fed into the robotic mind, but none can be taken out. In this way, wouldn't it be impossible to find out what you are thinking without turning you off and hacking you from your unit. This would be considered murder, even if you could be turned on again, and those that did hack you well :slay:
True, I suppose, but if it had any sort of built in transmitter at all, there could be problems. What if some company designed a cell phone that could connect to your cybernetic implants? Or how about this scenario for an input only system: Someone sends your implants a command over the internet. Something that says "kill person x"
or "access your memory of yesterday, write down everything that happened, and fax this report to me. Then delete your memory of today". I think I would be very worried about using any system that was linked to my brain and could be accessed from outside. But maybe I'm just paranoid.
All those people who said they wouldn't accept bionic implants - I bet Steve Austin, the Six Million Dollar Man felt that way once. But when he got all busted up in the plane crash he changed his tune pretty quickly.
Seriously, what if you had an accident and they could only save your brain - I'd definitely go down the RoboCop route.
