Besides, isn't it superior to do something completely by yourself and have people be proud of you as a result of that, rather than having to rely on people to give you emotional aid? That's ultimately the jist of what we're talking about.

Too much pride is a bad thing, so have to be careful there. Personally, I acknowledge that any skills I have have been given me by God, so anything I accomplish anyway is in a way God's accomplishment.

I'm not talking about pride for pride's sake though, but for the sake of doing good in the future. Pride is a bad thing when it's flaunted to others as a form of superiority; it's not a bad thing when it is used to make future actions better as a form of encouragement.
 
Prayed for, I've had a lot of clapping in my life.

Really, I have a concert about every week. Being clapped for is not unusual at all. :p
