Would you support Texas in its secession?

Which side do you pick in the Second American Civil War?

ok guys its been fun, but ive grown rather bored here, and my wife is home from work, and where going out to party tonight. I just got back from Iraq Actully and this morning signed my discharge paperwork, I was supposed to get out in march but was in country so my time got extended. So now me and the wife along with my daughter and mother are gonna go out and celebrate. ITs been very fun, though a few of you gotta work on your gullibility.
Lol, you don't have a wife. Stop lying

I'm just wondering who's alt he is?

That's about the most interested question in this epic speed thread. ;) It's going way too fast to more than skim it to get caught up. Yet it seems clear this is not a brand new poster to the forum. I just wonder if it isn't all meant as a parody. :p

BTW, are there any recent polls on how many Texans are traitorous secessionists?

75% to remain in the US, 7% to go, 18% undecided.

Which puts Texas' secession movement behind Vermont.

If 7% of Texans are candles, I don't see the Army taking too much time to put them down

Obama would not become evil, but we shouldn't allow Texas to be a bunch of rebels and try to "secede", as if they ever stood a chance against America.

Under the premise of the "Obama" administration furthering its iron rule, er "introduction to American socialism", I would find Texas's secession the action of a justified independent community of free people. To continue the hypothetical, I would also see to it that I joined Texas or another seceding state in pursuit of separation from the corrupted and disgraced Union.

Edit: Looking at the votes it has been made plain that there would be NO MIDDLE GROUND in Texas. Pick a side or GT*O.

Good thing that Obama would never do that. ;)

You're my hero. Can I have your autograph?

Do you like long walks on the beach?

Jeez, Azale. Don't you remember the last time you seduced a man?

Frankly, if you're correct, it was a super top secret reason. Robert E. Lee didn't know it was about taxes, Abraham Lincoln didn't know it was about taxes, Jefferson Davis himself didn't know it was about taxes. We have tons (literally) of correspondence, speeches and declarations from them, and they all say the same thing. Ending slavery would be bad for the economy, so they rebelled.

That's the reason they gave, mixed in with some rhetoric about the Feds not having the right to outlaw slaves. It wasn't about taxes. You're just a historical revisionist.

If it was about slavery, why did anti-slavery Europe take the South's side? Break up of the Union? Maybe... But I think Candle has it right more or less, slavery became the issue once war broke out but money - follow the money - was the motive. How could Lincoln announce a draft so the North could force the South to pay higher taxes because northern manufacturers hated competing with Europe for ag products? Try selling that to the masses... ;) Back in the 1820's the South saw a secessionist movement when slavery was entrenched. It was over export taxes and it was Charleston SC leading the way. Thats not a coincidence, trade with Europe was the money issue driving taxes and secession.
