The representatives of Hillsbrad would like to point out that the men of Hillsbrad would be able to contribute this much more to the struggle against the Scourge in the near future if, in the present, they and their allies were to be allowed to concentrate on eliminating the local threat posed by the Syndicate. Conversely, if they and their allies were to be forced to split their forces between different objectives, it seems likely that the forces that could presently be sent to the Plaguelands would be unable to make much of a difference, whereas the war effort against the Syndicate might suffer to the point of crippling Hillsbrad's military capability. "If", they say, "we chase two rabbits, we will lose them both."
That said, the representatives do recognise that the threat posed by the Scourge is greater than the one posed by the Syndicate. They therefore would like to make it clear that the governing council of Hillsbrad does not presently aim to completely destroy the Syndicate, but is willing to settle for securing certain forward positions (to wit, Durnholde Keep and its surroundings) and ending the present Syndicate offensive. Once those goals are achieved, the governing council is willing to send a portion of its forces to the Plaguelands, committing the rest to purely defensive warfare against the Syndicate.
On a related note, the representatives of Hillsbrad do not mean to offend the representatives of Silvermoon, but they do want to know if what they have said about local conflicts also applies to the Amani Troll War. It would seem that Silvermoon is in a far better position than most other nations to send troops to the Plaguelands, having already established a presence nearby.
