1914 Week 45 (16th week of the war, 1st week of November)
Although a costly and controversial battle, German forces won what was the biggest battle of the war to date. After trench raids and biplane observations indicated an offensive on Strassburg, German forces attacked French forces immediately south of Metz.
South of Metz:
-2 210 MM Art & 4 Railguns bombarded, than Wyorsh's 1st Corps, Ruprecht's 5th Corps, 6 Kav Div, 10 Inf A Div, & 32 Inf R Div (Ger) def. 2 Inf A Div, 6 Inf R Div & 12 Inf T Div (Fr) with German losses of 22 Inf R Div, 5 Inf A Div, 1 Kav Div & 1 Flamethrower Div. German Infantry also captured 22 French Light Artillery pieces and destroyed 4 other artillery (must be howitzers?).
Southeast of Nancy:
-20 Light Art bombarded, than 1 Inf A Div & 4 Inf R Div (Ger) def. 2 Inf A Div, 2 Inf R Div & 1 Cav Div (Fr). German forces also captured 10 French Light Artillery pieces.
In the North Sea:
-2 Destroyers (Ger) def. 2 Submarines (Br).
The Kaiser was pleased with the successful capture of French Artillery pieces and is throwing a grand parade to honor all German Soldiers who fought in the battle. Meanwhile, German Commanders reported that French troops fought extremely courageously (several promoted to elite status before being killed and 1 popped a GML).
