WW2-Global

Aloha,

Thank you Rrakkiss for the information.
So you keep the fighters in cities
Advantage - regenerate faster due to airport
Disadvantage - can be destroyed by bombers

Eventually I kept my air cover in air-bases to better protect them and (more importantly - convenience, that way I can unfortify/ fortify all units within a city without compromising air-cover for one turn).

In relation to AAA units I did find some equations about the chance to shoot air units down by AAA but it is terribly complicated and stats might have changed with the building of this scenario.

I find that the best defense from bombing is to wipe out the stupid Brits. ;)

I send in fighters to attack first -- they either destroy the interceptors or weaken them. Then go in with bombers against their cities and finish them off. I also like to make hit and run raids on the airfields on the southern coast of England. I use my BBs to soften them up then go in with Infantry which have amphibious assault capability. Only the last one to attack has to stay. I've destroyed up to 20 bombers at a shot this way.

Rrakkiss has the right idea with CAP -- place an airfield within range of several cities and watch the bombers come crashing down. AA Cruisers are very effective also plus Bismarks aren't to shabby either.

During WWII all offensives launched when the enemy had
air-superiority failed.

I think WW2-Global reflects that fact well.

Just a note that a long time ago studies were made that determined maximum air defense in CIV conquests vanilla was with four units of flak. Accordingly I never have more than four in any city.

Of course, different units in Global might change that but I suspect not. Don't forget to add fighters.

My actual strategy on bombers is to ignore them. The AI does not use them effectively in that they do not do strategic bombing. Invade with panzers and watch the bombers die!

I found a new unit that (in my opinion) is better than the old. Its an India Infantry unit that could replace the generic British unit.
If you want I could attach it here because I couldn't find it on the site, somehow I had it on my PC.

Hubschrauber,

Yes that sounds interesting.

The unit you mention will be of value for the graphic update.

No way Morphling, a scenario as mature as this one doesn't need constant attention any more.;) Rocoteh deserves a break from this monster occasionally.

Japan, Sid, 2.2, week 28, 1940- I have not been able to play as much as I want to. Still, some progress made. Guam and Davao taken, Manila re-taken from UK invaders! Chungking and the two China cities to the SE of it taken, and Chengdu under seige. I have taken all of C.China except it's last city in the mountains. This has led to my territory being stretched out into a huge salient, and the UK has sent hordes of India Infantry and tanks(through Soviet territory) at my westernmost city. Large battles where I was not really expecting any. 50+ Infantry and 20+ tanks from UK alone.

Round two with the soviets has resulted in a few gains by the Germans, who bypassed Kiev to take Rostov and a couple other cities down there. I took Bhutan and am trying for Ulan Bator to try and relieve some of the pressure on Germany, but who can tell. I dominate the Western Pacific now, but UK and US are starting to build more navy. Big Boys. On the plus side, they don't seem to be building many carriers. The Shokaku class I have been building are just superb!

I am aiming to finish the Chinese, and then drive into either India or Siberia. With a secondary attack at the Dutch East Indies. Trying to protect all the islands I have takes up a lot of my navy, but I am not going to give the allies a free pass at invading. Long term, I don't know how things are going to work out. A lot depends on how Germany fares. Soviets don't have T34s going yet, which is good.

I disagree with Bob1475; the AI is not good at strategic bombing, but they sure know how to devestate your air and naval units if given half a chance. Especially the UK. :p

I have gotten Otsus into action and I love them! Just viscious little guys, and so cheap! Though I have to ask why Japan needs to research the Zero, they had that in early '39; it's mid 1940 now and I still don't have the prerequisite tech yet. :( I can survive without it, but I sure could use some!

waiting to download. LOOKS AWESOME!

i agree,

this can stand alone, needs no constant attention.
great to see an other play on this tread sasebo, looks alot like my japanese game to ;-)

In this way you will destroy this genius work Rocoteh you are way more often away then there

Really??

So after 3½ years with scenario-creation (more then any other
scenario-creator) I am "more often away then here"?

Rocoteh

We are all on your side Rocoteh! You are the best of the best!!! Take every time you need to rest. at the end we will have again a very good scenario. Go on with your good work!
Greetings from Germany!
