Maimonides -
Man, you've got some MAD patience to play as Brazil!! I'm definitely enjoying your commentary, though - keep at it, and good luck!
Thanks. It is a very boring start, but I think it will get interesting once I start to tame the Amazon. I also thought that playtests as some of the less often played nations would be helpful.
I'm impressed that you have been able to hold out in Europe as France in your playtest. I tried France once in version 2.3 & got crushed in Europe.
Maimonides,
It should be a good strategy to focus on Colosseums and Cathedrals
since it will be very hard to get any luxuries.
Aye. I can build them in one Turn which is a big help. Even so, it's been a struggle to keep my coastal cities out of civil disorder.
Maybe its a good idea to keep good relations with Argentina and instead
expand in the North and in the West.
A very interesting playtest.
I thought of that. Columbia, for example, has only one city so it should be easy to conquer. Here's the problem: I have to traverse the huge Amazon to get there. It will still be many Turns before I have all my inland cities connected by road & would be many more to reach Columbia, Peru or Venezuela. Peru looks least appetizing as it has no roads between it's cities so it would be many more Turns after conquering them before their cities would be helpful.
On the other hand, Argentina's capital is one tile away from my territory so it's MUCH easier to take. The problem there is that they can build Tanks & I can only build Cavalry until I conquer them for their coal. It's taking me a long time to get close to thinking about building a military giving them time to build their troops up.
My plan remains to get my cities ready for military production, build a military & invade Argentina as soon as I can. If I can take Argentina, I should have the resources needed to become a global player instead of the scattering of jungle villages that I am now.
Ver. 2.5. Brazil. AI most aggressive. Regent.

Manaus' Workers are building roads in two directions: toward Belem & toward the Gold at my border with the British at Georgetown. They have almost reached the Gold which will be a big help when Manaus is connected to Belem & the rest of the coastal cities.
Goyas' Worker is close to connecting it to the coastal road between Recife & Rio de Janeiro.
It will be a very long time before Carajas, Puerto Acre & Teffe are connected to our road network.
To be continued...
