WW2-Global

1. US added wonders in New York and San Diego both auto-produce a transport every 7 turns. I tested with various turn amounts (only up to late 1940 though), and 7 doesn't make the US a mad powerhouse, but by late 1940 the US starts to have some power due to the many many transports it accumulates and keeps ferrying back and forth. By 1942, the US would likely have at most 52 or so transports (if it does not build any). But since I haven't playtested it through a whole game (since it's very time consuming to do so), I really don't know how well it will work in the late game.

What are the plus and minuses of giving the wonders an expiration tech?

What are the plus and minuses of giving the wonders an expiration tech?

Well, I suppose something could be done using that to make a wonder stop auto-producing (obviously :)). So in the case of US auto-producing transports, you could have those wonders expire with Sea 1943 or something, but the only bad thing about doing something like this is the difficulty level someone plays. Since on SID the AI would have Sea 1943 by early 1941 probably, whereas on easier difficulties it might come close.

What they really need is an option to tell a wonder to become active at a certain tech. That would be nice. Other than that, I'm not sure what any other plus/minus' there may be.

What did you have in mind for using it for?

I thought I had it working, but once I get into the game, Ragnar Lodbrok is Roosevelt and it stops loading at "Configuring Scenario". Can someone help me? This looks like an excellent mod.

I thought I had it working, but once I get into the game, Ragnar Lodbrok is Roosevelt and it stops loading at "Configuring Scenario". Can someone help me? This looks like an excellent mod.

Does it give a message? Such as missing entry or something? If it does, please write down exactly what it says, and let me know. Please know, that the scenario takes a while to load depending on computer speed. On a fast dual-core with 3 Gig Memory computer load time is about 5 mins, but on many computers (including my old one) load times can be around 30 minutes. The amount of memory seems to be a great factor in load/turn times as well. It will say "Configuring Scenario" during this time.

I may upload some START saves because loading a save game loads much much quicker. I cannot do it for every difficulty though, and would likely only do it on SID or the one below.

Let me know if it ever came up yet or not. It sounds as if everything is working as it should, just that the scenario is so big, it takes a while to start a new game.

I have WinRar, but I don't understand what to do with these files. Do I extract them or what? Can I just drag and drop the .rar into the Scenarios folder?

The .rar file is compressed so you need to uncompress it first. You should be able to right-click on the .rar file, and then it may show an option such as WinRar -> Extract to 'folder name'. If you see this, do it and it will extract the same folder the .rar file is located in.

If you don't see this on the right-click menu, you will need to double-click the .rar file which should open WinRar, and then you can hit the 'Extract To' button on the menu bar. Then just hit 'OK' on the options box that comes up. This will extract it to that same folder the .rar file is located in.

Yes you would put it in the scenarios folder, and the BIQ file goes there also (from the small download).

Also, from google'ing the problem, the problem could be:

it would be 2 problems

1. you need a newer version
or
2. its longer then 200 characters in the url (try extract on the desktop or renaming it to something shorter)

but it sounds more likely it could be #2... try extracting on your desktop, then copy over to the scenarios folder.

Copy the .rar file to your Desktop, then right-click and extract to there. Then open the folder that was extracted and you will see the WW2-Global folder, copy this to the scenarios folder.. that should be it. If you google 'Winrar The system cannot find the path specified' it brings up solutions and reason for why that happens, which is likely the #2 reason above. Either that, or sometimes it's due to special characters being in the path name (some other reasons why it may happen), but do this and you shouldn't have a problem.

WW2 Global Unofficial 2.7 US Makes Transports, SID Difficulty, Most Aggressive, No Reloads

Week 36, 1939 - Naval ships and S-boats bombard the Polish city of Danzig. The Polish Navy is sunk at the cost of U-boat U22.
*Marines and Kempf Panzer Division take Danzig.
*Radom taken by 11th Panzer Regiment after intense Luftwaffe bombing.
Lost 10th Panzer Division, 1st Panzer Division from Polish defensive positions. Lost several destroyers attacking the Dutch Navy based near Amsterdam. Brought infantry over to take out Dutch garrisons near Amsterdam.

Week 37, 1939 - *Took Amsterdam with loss of 1 infantry division.
Troops set to take Warsaw next week. Poland's airforce is destroyed, although they took down a couple bombers. Bringing badly needed troops over to the western front from Poland. My Navy and Britain's Navy are clashing. My Gneisenau Class' have been able to take out a couple of Britain's fixed coastal defences with little return damage.

Week 38, 1939 - Now that most of my fighter's are on the western front, most of the French air force got slaughtered in their fighter and bomber runs. Unfortunately, France cleared the way for Britains air force, which only faced the occasional flak. And a huge force of British destroyers suddenly appeared in the North Sea where my U-boat fleets where setting up, and they nearly got wiped out, although they did some pretty good damage of their own.
*Warsaw falls and Poland is defeated.
Most troops will be moving west immediately to assault the Low Countries.

Week 39, 1939 - *Took Rotterdam with 1 infantry div loss. *Took Antwerp.
I lose a German Predreadnought to a British Heavy Cruiser. Scharnhorst sunk by the HMS Hood. Gneisenau takes revenge and sinks the Hood (barely). There is no way I can deal with the remaining Battleships in the North Sea and the French Battlecruisers coming from the east with only 1 Battleship. Hopefully the Luftwaffe can deal with them.

Week 40, 1939 - The Admiral Scheer and it's U-boats have been surrounded by 2 French Battlecruisers and 20+ British destroyers and subs. The French Dunkerque is sunk by the Scheer.
*Brussels has been taken at the cost of 1 Panzer III Division.
Queen Elizabeth Battleship sunk by Luftwaffe and S-Boats.
*France takes Italian city Tripoli in North Africa.

Week 41, 1939 - Admiral Scheer sunk by the Strasbourg. Some of it's U-boat escorts are still holding out though against the large destroyer groups. The Graf Spee is heading towards the Scheer's last known position, but is spotted by US destroyers NW of the portugese city of Ponta Delgada. French Light Cruiser Emile Bertin and Duguay Trouin sunk near Antwerp. British Battleship Warspite sunk by Luftwaffe. Having to divert airforce to attack enemy navies has slowed ground progress. Germania and LAH SS Regiments finally arrive to assist in the assault on France.

Week 42, 1939 - Battleship Rodney sunk by airforce and Gneisenau. U28, the only U-boat to survive the onslaught that sunk the Scheer and the other U-boats, was barely able to escape with 1 remaining hitpoint. The crew's only chance of safe return to Germany is to go North towards the city of Reykiavik, then continue to the East far above scapa Flow.
*Verdun taken, but the 2nd Panzer Division, 1st Light Division, and 20th Mot Inf Division are lost attacking Verdun (very unlucky rolls),

Week 43, 1939 - 9 hitpoint Germania SS Infantry defeated by a 2 hitpoint French Infantry in Lille.
*Lille taken.
*Japan takes US city Manilla!
Renown Battlecruiser sunk by Deutschland Battlecruiser. I continue a troop buildup on the border of Greece preparing for an invasion. To secure Athens would give me a coastal city in the Mediterranean, and let me play an active role in helping Italy defend her shores.

Week 44, 1939 - French Strasbourg Battlecruiser sunk by Stukas. British Royal Oak Battleship sunk after air and naval bombardment, and Gneisenau finishing the ship off. 3rd Light Division and 3 Panzer III Divisions lost attacking Paris. Attempts to plant spy on Japan and Great Britain both fail. A massive fleet of 4 US Battleships and 4 US Heavy Cruisers comes right next to the Graf Spee, but are 1 tile out of range. Luckily the Graf Spee escapes due to it's speed advantage over the Battleships.

Week 45, 1939 - Assault continues on Paris. 7 Artillery Brigades (with 3 in reserve) and 25 bombers have hit Paris for the 2nd week. Defender resistance is still strong.
*The Kempf Panzer Division was destroyed attacking Paris, but no other major casualties. PARIS TAKEN!

1stCavalryDivision.jpg
My German Cavalry Brigade is still in action and has become quite useful. Having made a couple kills of their own, they have veteran experience, but using their Zone Of Control, they have helped weaken Allied troops to a respectable degree, since I keep them in the front lines for this purpose. With more and more Panzer III's showing up, they may assume a role of destroying weak targets such as artillery and flak units. British Battleship Valiant sunk after a fury of naval bombardment and Type IX U-boat attacks. U1, U18, and U20 are keeping an eye out around Scapa Flow while damaged surviver U28 makes it's way through the area.
*France takes Italian city Bisciara in North Africa.

Week 46, 1939 - I thought the Graf Spee outran the American Battleships and Heavy Cruisers, but they caught up with my ship near Dublin. The Graf Spee sunk 1 US Heavy Cruiser, but was sunk by the next Cruiser.

WW2 Global Unofficial 2.7 US Makes Transports, SID Difficulty, Most Aggressive, No Reloads

Week 47. 1939 - *Japan takes Communist China city of Yenan.
*Took Brest, thanks to my ground artillery brigades. AA downed several bombers, so I focused my bombers elsewhere.
King George V Class sunk off the coast of Brest using airforce, land artillery, and U-Boats.
*Japan takes US city of Guam. Attempt to plant spy in US fails.

Week 48, 1939 - Hahaha! I was quite proud of that British KGV Battleship I sunk last turn, now 4 more KGV's appeared, 2 near Brest and 2 near London, along with another US fleet. Jeanne D Arc Cruiser sank near Brest, along with 2 US Heavy Cruisers, but there are 5 US/British Battleships in this area also.
*Lyon taken!
Strasbourg has been cut off. I will deal with that fortress after the remaining French cities fall. A KGV is sunk near Amsterdam by my Gneisenau Battleship. Hamburg has been diverted to building Bismarck Battleships now, with Bremen and Stettin likely to follow suit soon. Bringing all newly built Armoured Units down to Greece to setup invastion plans for the coming weeks.

Week 49, 1939 - 39th Panzer Regiment destroyed attacking Toulouse.
*Toulouse taken!
Unsuccessful assault on Marseilles lead to 3 Panzer III Divisions being defeated.
*Japan takes Chinese city of Ningpo!

Week 50, 1939 - Bringing additional units down to assist in attack on Marseilles. Lyon and Toulouse do not have a barracks, so it is taking much longer for units to heal. Another Panzer III Division lost in the attack. Gneisenau takes out another KGV, but 3 U-Boats are lost. King George V Battleships continue to pound city of Brest.

Week 51, 1939 - *Marseilles finally taken! That was the most difficult city to take so far, because I didn't start with full support from majority of my airforce, and used no artillery. Repairing my tank divisions and will likely launch blitz on Bordeaux next week. The French country is split into three. Gneisenau sinks another KGV, but takes considerable damage this time around. U28 finally makes it back to safety, just north of Hamburg. The crew narrowly escaped certain death and avoided patrols along the route.

*** Germany (me) declares war on Greece. Infantry and Panzer Divisions are set and ready to go. Panzers will rush towards Athens along the western shore while bombers strike the city. Romania, Hungary, and Bulgaria Infantry will defend the border, and a German 88 stands by to enter Athens once it's taken.
*Japan takes the Chinese city Amoy.

Week 52, 1939 - Lost 3rd and 5th Panzer Divisions attacking Bordeaux.
*Bordeaux taken!
*Japan takes Communist China city of Lanchow!
Now that France has almost been defeated in Europe (the Maginot Line is being destroyed, piece by piece), I will change my battle strategy. I will begin fortifying the German-Soviet border, and start massively developing my air power. Having a very powerful Navy is not a realistic goal, but Germany's airforce can be more useful all around.

Week 1, 1940 - *** Italy, Finland, and Japan declare war on Greece! Greece has alot of infantry stationed in Athens, it may take some time to take the city.

Week 2, 1940 - *Athens taken! It's possible I may rush a transport to take Crete, but I will likely leave things as is for now, until I better evaluate the situation of the Mediterranean.
* Japan takes the Communist China city of Ansi!

Week 3, 1940 - Attack on Strasbourg continues. Half of the Maginot Line has been destroyed. Several bombers and Stukas have been destroyed by AA, and 2 Panzer divisions have been lost attacking various fortresses. Gneisenau destroys another KGV (barely), but it took 6 U-Boats to weaken the 2 KGV stack enough for it to be defeated. A U-Boat Type IX finished off the other KGV. Attempt to plant spy in Japan fails. Thats 5 fails so far, how pathetic.

Week 4, 1940 - Took 3 Panzer Divisions to destroy the final fortress over Strasbourg, even though it only had 1 hitpoint. Another Panzer destroyed attacking a Strasbourg infantry. Still unable to take the city.
*** Germany (me) declares war on Yugoslavia. Infantry and Panzer Divisions are set and ready to go.
* Belgrade taken! Lost 1 Panzer Division in attack.

Week 5, 1940 - Finland, Japan, and Italy declare war on Yugoslavia!
* Strasbourg Falls! Strasbourg had a LARGE amount of defenders! There must have been at least 15 sitting in that city. The Italians were pouring troops in also, and they took out a few as well. Now to deal with the remaining Maginot Forts.
* Yugoslavian city of Zagreb taken!
* Japan takes Su-Chou!

Week 6, 1940 - French Battleship Lorraine spotted in the Mediterranean near Marseilles. Lucky for me most of my bomber group is there, but I am unable to sink it.
* Took Yugoslavian city of Dubrovnik! Lost 1 Panzer Division taking the city.
Finally! I was able to plant a spy in the US! US currently has 14 transports. I believe auto-production has only accounted for 6 of those, and I know US does not start with 8 transports, so it's likely they produced a couple of their own.
*** Signed a peace treaty with Greece, since it will be some time before I have transports in the Mediterranean.
