WW2 Infantry

Winter's units are still great and reflect what you can do when you are a C&P master.
They stood the test of time, but now some of them have to step aside for their heirs.

Thanks Wyrm.

In my opinion the WWI and WWII infantry could be represented by:

- rifleman as a basic infantry unit
- machine (submachine) gunner as an offensive infantry unit
- heavy machine gunner as a defensive infantry unit.

So, it would be great idea also to make heavy machine gunners for Arabia, India, China, Japan, maybe Scotland (as the historical development of the Celts). ;)

Then, all civ-fanatics could have WWI and WWII unitlines completed for almost all principal civs and play comfortable XXth century` mods and scenarios. :)

I agree with BK. These troops would definitely be useful, but I guess we just should let Wyrm decide what to do next.

Btw, Sandris, have you seen any Persians lately? ;)

ahhh.... Russian Pipe Dream.

My generosity only extends as far as my tolerance.. and I'm sick of infantry units. They are keeping me from other projects.
I am the last person in the world who would have that I would have made so many of the damn things anyway.
I have absolutely no plans, and no inklingling of going down this road and being stuff making dozens and dozens more of these things.

No.......

"but but but but but you make such pretty infantry!??"

-don't care. I'll finish with the Italians and the Zuluwar rifleman and then it's time for other things.

I am gladly picking up the baton as far as making infantry units go. But please, don't start bombarding me with unit request upon unit request - I have way to many ideas in my head as it is, and way too little time. Which is, in these rough economic waters, actually a good thing.

Wyrm, you're a perfectionist in the best sense of the word. Everything you make is, um, :cringe: "pretty" (sorry, but the word is so patently, farcically, and appropriately sarcastic ... :goodjob: )

Almost 2 years since I started this thread. I decided to try and modify one of my old turtledove units into something more useful. Check the 1st post. US WW2 heavy machine gun team.
There might be more later one with different colors/helmets etc.

I do not poke the dragon. If I want to have fun with it - I would yank his tail. :) I read in some topic Wyrm is not very happy of doing infantry units. But he did & do sometimes - and we should be grateful to him. There are a lot of reasons to do it.

I always had a dream about WW2 infantry units. And ideas from Sandris almost fit my own ones.

Yes. Like a warrior vs spearman/swordsman. And I personally will use WW1 units from Wyrm for this purpose with a possibility to upgrade them to SMG/HMG units.
The only thing I wish to be added - an animation for creating a roads + forts to let infantry act like a worker on the battlefield. And this would be a good reason to use not only SMG + HMG, but the riflemen too.

Yes! And I dream about throwing a grenade as AttackB.flc. :) The same thing Kinboat did for his Industrial Legion.

Yes. And I would be happy to see some breastwork. :)

Damn dreamer. I know. :)

Anyway, there was one more correct thing from Sandris
Of course, it`s only his decision and generosity. :)
Yes, of course. I just told about my pipe dreams. :)

And, of course, there should be a thank you for your tireless & brilliant work, Wyrmshadow.
