Update 1 No official date
Trebizond
In the Forested hills of northern Anatolia, just across snow capped mountains from mysterious Hatti, or dark Armenia, is the land of Trebizond.
A mysterious people, some indications give that they were amongst the first of this land, migrants, unlike most, from the direction of the setting sun- what ever thier origins, they carry with them a proud walk, and dedicate them to their mighty storm God, the lightning hurler, king of all the their Gods. Eager to explore and to settle, the great coastal strip they themselves are initially settled on proves inviting to continue down for expansion, but the mysterious mountain chains to the south and east call out, eager to reveal their treasures-but they will be hard to surmount with the limited resources now available to the young kingdom
Cimmaria
To the far north of the Trebizond coast lands, beyond the seas and mountains, and verdant forests, is the land of the nomad, the steppe people, master of the horse, the ones with nature.
Normally a people only concerned with survival, a new leader has arisen amongst the tribes known collectively, as the Cimmarians, and has convinced them to settle down, and to stop their migrant ways; a Cimmarian by birth, he says he has traveled to distant places, where the people live a different life, not nomads and travelers, but people who plant crops, and herd cattle, horses, and other animals; it is a way of life far different from what the Cimmarians are accustomed to, but the descriptions of towns, and buildings, of walls, of metals and treasure, and pots and jewelry have their effect, and within months, much of the Cimmarian populace has settled down in the new kingdom, though the majority are still nomads, not totally convinced of the benefits to this way of life.
Sparta
To the west of Trebizond, is a land called Sparta; overall, quite similar to the people of that land, located in warmer climate, the land is mountainous, and not entirely well suited for agriculture, split as it is into many a riven and valleys and vales, the Spartan people have worked hear to unify what of the land they have thus far under their rule, rather isolated, circled as they are by the wine dark sea around their land, they have but one, small northern land bridge which has yet to be explored, though otherwise have utterly dominated their native lands.
Rome
Yet still farther to the west, across another sea (though not as wine dark as the previous sea, in fact, its a rather stunning blue) we come to the land of the bull calf, Italos, or Italy- a land filled with otherwise barbaric, and warring tribes, the people known as the Romans arent much different; like the rest of the peoples of the land, they are a strange cross between what some would consider civilized, and what those same people would consider warlike barbarians; however, from this unlikely start, a new idea is born; tired of corrupt and inefficient one man rule, the people- or more accurately, the nobility, has thrown off the shackles of the previous monarchy, and established a council of the aristocrats. Located in the center of the land, they are in a good position to expand, and have good resources to mount the needed expeditions to do so- though more over, have the will to do it as well.
Euskara
Seems the world is on a slightly western skew really, as it seems we keep heading that way. Traveling yet farther west- in fact, its about as far as we can head without heading into the great ocean we find a very mysterious -and very ancient- people indeed.
The Euskarans are said by the people around them to be much formidable warriors, defending their lands like few others could, and are said to have been on their land before all other peoples walked the earth- or at least, thats what their neighbors say; the Euskarans themselves are a relatively unsocial lot, rather unconcerned with the peoples around them, save for a paranoia about if they will march on them or not, and has resulted in the basques building a formidable defensive work around their main city, seat of the high council of tribal chieftains, and home of the elected high king.
Hatti
After previously heading as far west as possible, we promptly, and speedily take you right back to where started, just south of Trebizond in fact, in the land of Hatti. The Hitties in habit a strange land, semi arid, due to the great mountains that they inhabit, interspersed with lands that are prime for rasing horses in. The Hitties are poised for fast expansion, should they fully master the horse., though the North ans west could both present challenges to Hittite rule.
Qin
In the far lands of the distant east, powers arise also however; a rather self absorbed and cocky kingdom, the Qin has arisen, and seems bent on attempting to take control of much of th e land surrounding them; however, somwhat thrwarting thire immediate attempts are thier direct nighbors, the Han, and farther to the east the Qi and Yan kingdoms. The land is large, and still very open to peaceful expansion however, and so far the threat of barbarians had yet to arise.
Athens
Scurrying back to the west, we come to Athens; a city much the same as Sparta, it is what lays on the other side of th eland bridge; so far, both have minimal reports of the others existence, as both cities have been more preoccupied with consolodation of thier surrounding territory more then exploration of the unknown- the city is in a prime a location, a wonderful defensive point in th emiddle of rolling hills quite suitable for agriculture, a natural port close by, and rumours say silver mines to thier south, just waiting to be tapped. The down side is room for exapnsion for Athens (and Sparta too) is slim; the Minoans based on Crete control what little trade thier is, and hold a frim grip on the Aegean; in fact, it was only recentlly that Athens itself broke free of Minoan control, Athens at one time being a colony of that nation; to the Athneians North is Thebes, an agricultural nation, rather laid back, while they dotn care much for events in the world, thier surprisingly quik to spring to the defence of thie rborders for any percieved infraction
Cumans
The Cumans are another Steppe people, similer to the Cimmerians, and indeed, seem to have taken from the Cimmerian cue to settle down in the first place, and do so on the sores of the Black Sea, in rather close proximity to their Cimmerian counterparts.
Saba
We end our journey through the lands in the ream of Saba; a land in the harsh souther deserts, how and why anyone woudl choose to settle here is much of a mystery; but they have, and they are succeeding in tameing the land, for what little that is worth; the land, while sparse, has its riches however; plants that can be made into a wonderous substance known as "inscense" is profuse here, and even so far away, it is said that a very powerful kingdom to the north and across a narrow sea seeks much of this substance for great religious festivals and rites that take place in its domain. The land is sparse, but is prime to be a rich one, should the people of the land play thier cards right.
General Notices
-Egyptians, Minoans, Tartessians and Babylonians are all established civlizations, are the basis for all the players nations
-The Great Old Chinese civlization has collapsed, and several warring kingdoms are left in its place, several of them have developed anew because of diplaced populations- more natiosn are expected to spring up, and Non-Chinese culture barbarians are rumoured to be on the march
-The Oldest civlization on earth, the civlization on Malta, has collapsed.
-Cuman civlization did not arise in the Ukrain; because they were a steppe people, I put them in close proximity to the Cimmerians, because it makes more sense that two steppe peoples who chose to settledown woudl do so because one influnced the other; this means they share the same general area.
-(EDIT) Thier was one random event; because (currentlly) The Basques are pretty much a buch of paranoid isolationist hillsmen, they put up a major seires of stockades and other sorts of defensed around thier caital city.
