Yet Another Falklands Flare Up

While we are arguing about island control....If I inhabit an uninhabited/unclaimed territory with 100 people and I proclaim my own state with a government, can I appeal at the UN to recognize me?

I have, but Micronations are different, most of them are still considered part of someones territory. I want to make a real nation. UN ratified nation.

The only point that Argentina has is the geographic proximity.
Everything else point to UK legitimacy.

So well, Argentina is only producing dumb noise and hot air. And is frankly irritating.

Albania, then.

No one seems to care about Albania. Least of all the EU. Which, might, you know actually be able to do some good there. But no, Albania is just too poverty stricken and corrupt to be admitted to the EU.

Albania is also handy for you.

Watch out for the Mafia.

But I bet you've already thought about Albania.

Bhutan would be an easy target for a coup.

As far as I know there is no unclaimed territory on earth. The only way to make a real nation would be by getting some part to secede.

How about the Republic_of_New_Afrika?

We declared Independence last year, we even have a document which I signed. The US government has ignored it though.

The areas we claim have a population of less than 4,000 and less than 30 people identify as citizens of the nation.

So has the Argentine government's popularity numbers dropped recently, because that's the only real reason keep doing this every few years. Helps keep the masses distracted from their own government and problems.

Indeed, I believe that their geographic proximity didn't exist until before the 1870s and the Conquest of the Desert when Argentina expanded into Patagonia. Decades after the British return to the islands.

Well, there's Antarctica, but you'd be mad to establish a nation there - plus that pesky Antarctic Treaty. Otherwise your best bet is Bir Tawil being the only remaining legally unclaimed land which isn't a frozen wasteland.

Bhutan would be an easy target for a coup.

Why so? It's not a particularly unstable country, it's citizens are pretty supportive of its government, and it's protected from outside invasion by a pact with India. a Foreign-led coup would be a nightmare there.

The best bet would probably be one of those African states which still have their Cold War-era "Big Man" leading them.

Equatorial Guinea is a good choice, the dude is a nut, a bit paranoid but the reward is an oil rich nation with an obedient population.

Sealand apparently isn't really a nation. It's part of the UK. But the government just tolerate it declaring itself an independent nation because it can't be bothered doing anything about it. They don't have international recognition or anything, as far as I know.
