YnAMP - Yet (not) Another Maps Pack

YnAMP - Development thread Civ6

I am using the latest version of the YNAEMP Play Europe Again map (after the Nubia DLC) with the Faster Border Expansion addon and Quo's Everyone's Expansionist mod. The game always freezes and crashes somewhere between 40-70 turns in on this map, no matter which civ I use. Have the YNAEMP addons been updated? Anyone know what the problem is?

Have you tried playing without Quo's mod?
It's very possible that it is not compatible with Ynamp Beta.5.

Yup, this solved it, but without Quo's mod the AI is back to hardly settling anything.......any suggestions for how to make the AI more expansionist?

Sorry, I haven't seen that happen.
In my games with Giant Map, ludicrous size, all other 23 AI's settle fast and sometimes too furiously.

Is it possible to play with like 40 civs?
Sorry, I can't be sure.
I have seen a maximum of 62 players in one of the files for Ynamp, but I
don't know if that is total number of Players + City-States, or just
City-States or something else.

Maybe you could try setting up a game with 40 players.
Tell us how it went after the first move. It might take a long
time, so Happy New Year in advance! :)

62 players is the max you can have (civ+cs), 63 being the barbarian player.

for maps with TSL you need to have set 62 TSL to reach that number, try the Giant Earth with 60+ simple modern civilization for example.

Dunno if this is a bug in the game or also an effect of a mod, but a lot of City States have two denominators, for instance: Brussels is referred to as Brussels in the game's alerts but is called Strasbourg on the map; Kandy is referred to as Kandy in alerts but is called Colombia on the map.

There's quite a few of those.

I'm playing with 20 civs (including mine) plus 30 City States on Genghis Kai's GEM (Homigas version) giant map.

Okay, so, the above is again (it seems) the result of the Really Advenced Set-Up mod in which I forgot to tick the box for "Use Generic Names". The latter makes that the city state names used in alerts are the same as on the map and in the city states list.

Any boxes need to be ticked again whenever a new game is started and I overlooked it in previous re-starts.

I started on the largest of the maps and although I don't have a NASA super-ordinateur (an MSI RX470 GamingX with 8GB VRAM) the game is running as smooth as before. On start-up it takes a bit longer, like, one and a half song (which is around 3 to 4 minutes, I guess), so, for the time being no problemas amigo ;)

Must add that the maps are very well done. Merçi beaucoup for that :)

They are beautiful!
Have you been able to get the 3 "Viking" wonders (Giant's Causeway, Eyjafjallajokull
and Lysefjord) in your games?
I used the Closer Cities mod from Add-Ons and included the Vikings Content DLC.
Giant's Causeway is stunning, especially with the Farther Zoom v1.0 mod.

Yep :) Just a minute ago I found Iceland and the volcano Eyjafjallajokull. Encounterd all three you mentioned in a previous game. Mount Everest is so far the most underwhelming of the Natural Wonders I thus far discovered.

I'll have a look at that zoom mod. Sounds interesting; thanks for the tip Ferocitus :)

another question, if not too much to ask for...how can I mod the terrain feature of the map? specifically I'd like to add an oasis in the Australia central desert so that I can settle a city next to Red Rock natural wonder. Previously when I played the Largest Earth, there are 2 oasis close to it, but not in GE, which makes the wonder kinda...useless. thanks.
see the new tutorial here :

The Zoom Farther mod is very useful with the ludicrous size maps in Ynamp
because it allows you to zoom out and see more of the map.
It also gives some very nice views of terrain, wonders, units and barbarians'
armpits (if that's your thing).

I found that the best settings for the Giant Earth ludicrous maps I play are:
Altitude at closest zoom: 40.000000
Altitude at furthest zoom: 2500.000000
Camera tilt at closest zoom: 70.000000

It might not be to your liking, but I love the immersive 3D views possible.

I have a small problem, whenever i try to play on giant map with 20 civilizations, there always like 3 other factions just next to me, there are lots of good and empty spots on the map but the computer decides to put civilizations right next to me, and i have no space for expansion, is there any way to force computer to place civilizations on the entire map?

I am in the year 1410 AD, turn 601. I am in the gunpowder era (playing x5 slower tech mod).

A turn now takes precisely 1 minute and 36 seconds.

Moderator Action: moved the bug report posts about the number of civs in game to to their own thread here

One problem I always have with this mod is the city state names.
loc_city_name_dublin_1 for example, instead of just "Dublin"
I tend to just disregard it but perhaps there's a fix?

About the crashes at ludicrous size, I've done some more test with the latest version of the mod (cross posting from steam)

Since the summer patch, on my main computer I sometime manage to start the game at that size, some other times it crashes directly. When it does load, it always crashes on revealing the map . Graphics are low/medium without leaders animations

On my second computer, I've installed a previous version of Civilization (spring patch), and it loads the Ludicrous Earth as well as Island Plates at that size, and revealing the map doesn't crash the game. Graphics are medium/high, with leaders animation (low details)

For reference, the computers specs (both on Windows10, every CPU/GPU @stock)

1st PC:
i7-4770K
16 GB RAM
GTX1080Ti (drivers 382.05)

2nd PC:
core2 Q9550
8 GB RAM
GTX980Ti (drivers 382.33)

So it doesn't come from the mod, as it's working fine on my second computer, we can only hope for a fix on Firaxis side, but I'll do some more tests with different drivers, just in case.

I have hammered the new mods (60+ civs and Ynamp beta .5) for days and
still have not had one crash. They even exit to desktop without freezing.

Is it a problem for Win8 and Win 10 only, or have you had reports of crashes
under Win 7?

Where do you download the 60+ civs modern mod?
