Your civ limit

I think I overdosed on civ today, after I played like, 6 freakin hours in a row of various civilization games. What's your saturation point before you get tired and walk away?

My wife.

Death.

Whoever wins out between these two.

My life is so awesome and busy that I don't have time for trivial things like civ, video games, sleep, work, eating, sex, friends or family.

12 hours is the most I've done at one time, and that was quite some time ago.

The longest I've ever played was perhaps four hours. I could play a lot longer, but I usually get interrupted by other items of notice. I also generally have a Civ spree, and then I don't play again for a few weeks.

I've had one where it went most of a night. I woke up the next morning on my keyboard.

But as of late, my will to play civ has been really, really low. I haven't finished a game in a long effing while.

Depends on how much I've played it recently. For me, the burn-out tends to be more because I've played it a lot over the past few weeks or months than in one day. If I haven't played for months and start a great game it might keep my interest very well. But if I'm on the verge of burnout, Civ won't keep my interest for long.

I don't think I've actually played a game of Civ (any version) since July. Which makes this one of my longer Civ-less spans.

I once played for over 17 hours straight, and I only stopped as I was about to fall asleep onto my laptop by the end.


I've also engaged in a lot of other marathons which have gone on for over 12 hours.

I've played 10 hours straight once. I hardly play Civ anymore these days, though I played an 8-hours session of EU3 not so long ago.

When I used to play often it was usually only for an hour or so at a time before I took an hour or so break and did something else. I also used to read heavily, or watch movies/tv between turns. I could go off-and-on for 12-18 hours if I had the whole day off though.

This might have been because I had a tendency to play extremely large scenarios for Civilization III that often had massive load times when starting up and between turns.

My limit isn't what it used to be but I still put in maybe an hour a day, most days, and somethines 3 or 4 hours if something good is going on and am not called away.

Around 1 hour a day at the most, been trying to play a civ3 mod but always give up...

EU3's been stealing what was my Civ time in former years, too. Fresh but good strategy will do that, apparently.

I was going to play the Civ3 PTW GOTM tonight, but left my CDs behind while on the holidays, and thus was in the unfortunate position of only being able to play Conquests. Oh well, maybe I'll still play that GOTM in January.

Weaklings... I've played for several days sleeping in a chair and with food all over the table. First time with Civ2 on Windows 3.1 machine with 16 colours, then with Civ3 multiplayer, and in Civ4 that was how I completed PlanetFall mod...
