Organized religion is bad for its indoctrination of the young before they can fully understand it. People shoudl mature and then choose what to believe in.

>Abortion?

Unsure

For

>Affirmative Action?

Completely against. It is racist to minorities that recieve it, racist to minorities that don't and racist to the majority.

>The Death Penalty?

Against. Life in prison is cheaper, and more of a punishment. Right now people only use it for revenge, and the law is not to be used for revenge, it is to be just. Not to mention that new evidence can lead to them being freed. Killing them is final.

Questions

Who do you think is the bigger threat - Hussien or Bin Laden?
Bin Laden, hands down

Margaret Marshall

Would you support a legalized draft?
Depends. Not now!

What country is the biggest threat to our way of life?

too late for Bush to ask international support. Only a new president can do that

yes

Is sexual discrimination a problem in our country?

balance

Do vote according to party or according to politician's stances and policy
policy

If you could say one thing to our current leader, what would it be?
:gripe: :gripe: :gripe:

Religion?

It's mostly just silly ceremonies. "Original sin," baptisms, confirmations, celibacy...a bunch of foolishness. Being a clergyman should not be a career choice. If Christ were alive today, would he go to church? I doubt it.

Abortion?

I'm personally against it, but it is good for demographic control. We've got enough ditzy teenage sluts and gangbangers out there as it is.

Welfare?

Welfare should be a safety net to help people get back on their feet, not an income supplement, as many even working people use it. As for the alcoholics and those unemployed by choice, let them starve.

Affirmative Action?

If whites and Asians don't need it, neither do blacks or Hispanics.

The Death Penalty?

Bring back the chair and test it on O.J. Simpson.

Gay Marriage?

I don't care what a homosexual does, just quit those parades where the guys run around in their underwear! Yuck.

Gay Adoption?

Depends on the individual. I don't like homosexuals who are on recruitment drives.

Hate Crimes?

You should go to jail longer for murdering a Puerto Rican than a white person? That's just idiotic.

Education?

Stop the political indoctrination first and then we'll talk.

The Environment?

Quit pretending that the world is coming to an end.

Animal Testing?

For. Good for research and makes Greenpeace angry. Two for one shot.

AIDS?

It's bad, but it's behaviorally spread, so don't blame me.

School Vouchers?

Until public schools start teaching kids about reality and not feelgood goobledygook.

School Prayer?

Pray on your own time.

"One Nation, Under God"?

Wipe out the whole thing and replace it with the national anthem. Better yet, "America the Beautiful." It's a better song anyway.

Drug Legalization?

I still say we intercept all drugs coming into the U.S. and put poison in them (and have government agents sell them on the street.) Not only does the government turn a profit, but we kill off all the worthless druggies too.

Prostitution Legalization?

I don't really care.

Legalized Gambling?

For, but let anyone own a casino and not just the Indian tribes.

Age of Consent?

18.

Premarital Sex?

If you're not churning out kids, why should I care?

Single Parenthood?

Obviously against, but there's nothing I can do about it.

School Uniforms?

Only on the Japanese girls.

Drinking Age of 21?

Yes.

Immigration?

Limit it to only a few super-skilled people.

The War on Terror?

Off with the kid gloves.

The Country's Current Leadership?

Generally fails. That's why we should minimize the role of government in our lives.

Voting?

I voted.

Saddam Hussein?

Clown. Shouldn't have tried to screw the U.S.

Osama Bin Laden?

Goat-[expletive]

Euthanasia?

Not my problem.

Assisted Suicide/Suicide/Self-Mutilation?

Get over your stupid problems!

Mental Illness?

Against? How am I supposed to answer this?

Eating Disorders?

Stop eating! Or start eating. Whatever it is.

Addiction - A Choice or a Disease?

Choice. Nobody put that cigarette in your mouth.

Three Strikes Law?

One strike.

You Choose...

Additional note: in many of these cases, I'd prefer a third option, but since that wasn't asked, I'll give the response requested.

Bush or Kerry?

Bush.

Republican or Democrat?

Republican.

Cheney or Edwards?

Cheney.

Rehabilitation or Imprisionment/Punishment?

Punishment.

Marijuana - Legal or Illegal?

Illegal.

Adoption or Abortion?

Don't care.

Life or Death?

Can't answer. What context?

Gay Marriage or Civil Unions?
Gay Marriage or Nothing?
Civil Unions or Nothing?

Already asked these.

Segregation or Intergration?

Segregation.

Yes Or No...

Is our economy really on the mend?

Yes.

Do homosexuals deserve equal rights under the law?

Yes.

Is banning gay marriage legalizing discrimination?

No.

Do we have a right to be in Iraq?

Yes.

Did we enter Iraq for the right reasons?

Yes.

Do you think there are weapons of mass destruction?

Yes.

Do you feel 9/11 could have been prevented by better leadership?

Yes, if we had "arrested" bin Laden in 1996 like the Sudan offered us.

Questions

Who do you think is the bigger threat - Hussien or Bin Laden?

Neither now. Saddam is in a cage and Osama is screwing a goat out in Pakistan.

Who do you feel is the best leader for our country?

Me, but I'm not in charge.

Would you support a legalized draft?

No. A drafted army is only necessary in massive wars like WWII. Otherwise, a professional army does the job faster, better, and with fewer casualties.

What country is the biggest threat to our way of life?

Red China.

Should we work to get international support, or continue on our own?

Act only in our national interests, whether they (basically the French) like them or not.

Does freedom of speech include ideas that you do not support?

Depends on what the idea is. If it's Hamas' idea, then no.

Is racial discrimination still a problem in our country?

Yes. When any white person is even accused of treating a non-white person wrongfully, it is immediately assumed that the white person is guilty.

Is gender discrimination still a problem in our country?

See above, replace white with man and non-white with woman.

Is sexual discrimination a problem in our country?

See above, replace white with heterosexual and non-white with homosexual. Matthew Shepard?

Is ethnic discrimination a problem in our country?

You asked this already (race.)

Is religious discrimination a problem in our country?

I don't know, I'm not all that religious.

Do you believe force, or peacemaking efforts, are needed to protect us?

Sudetenland and Oslo. Figure it out for yourself.

Protecting natural resources or industrys that use them - which is better?

Resources. I'd rather have our materials coming in from poor countries at which we can hire labor from at cheaper prices to fuel our industries. Americans get a clean nation and a deal on consumer goods. No losers here.

Do vote according to party or according to politician's stances and policy

Policy.

If you could say one thing to our current leader, what would it be?

Put down the kid gloves on Iraq and drop the moralism.

Religion?
Agnostic, with a strong tendency to atheism.

Abortion?
Strongly pro-choice. Should be allowed on demand up to the end of the first trimester, then allowed only for medical reasons.

Welfare?
Strongly pro-welfare. We all live in the same society, we should all help the ones who are in need.

Affirmative Action?
Strongly against. Affirmative Action is positive racial discrimination, and discrimination should be eradicated. It's racism with good intention, but racism nonetheless.

The Death Penalty?
On the fence. Death penalty is irreversible, so any error can't be fixed. Additionnally, I'm not sure that the State, which is supposed to be the example of the society's values, should be authorized to kill people.
On the other hands, I've absolutely no problem with killing bastards.

Gay Marriage?
I don't like the idea, but I'm not really convinced by the counter-arguments. I would stay neutral in any case.

Gay Adoption?
I'm weakly against. Again, if there is a vote to be held, I would probably abstain.

Hate Crimes?
The evilness of an act is based on the motivation of this act. Hate crimes are based on the vilest human pulsion, and are therefore worse than others. I'm for.

Education?
What is the question supposed to mean ?

The Environment?
Strongly pro-environnementalist. We all own the planet. I don't see why someone should be allowed to destroy it and pollute the air, water and land of everybody just because he wants more money.

Animal Testing?
Necessary evil in many case (health, drugs...). Unnecessary evil in many others, that should be forbidden (cosmetics comes to mind).

AIDS?
A damn threat.

School Vouchers?
Don't know what it is.

School Prayer?
Only in religious schools.

"One Nation, Under God"?
Laughable.

Drug Legalization?
On the fence. I don't like drugs, and I think that the attraction of the forbidden is better for something that isn't that dangerous. On the other hand, I can't find many good reasons why weed is forbidden and not alcool or tobacco. So...

Prostitution Legalization?
Against. I know it could be good in many ways, but I refuse to accept that the human body could ever be considered a merchandise.

Legalized Gambling?
Don't care at all, one way or another.

Age of Consent?
Hard to say. I would say around 15 or 16. But I consider that anyone who is in something like 2-years span of his/her partner, isn't in illegality (so if a boy who is 16, has sex with a girl who is 14, and the age of consent is 15... Bah, it's ok.

Premarital Sex?
Of course. It's ridiculous to try to legislate about it. It's naive and absurd to refuse it. Try it before buying it.

Single Parenthood?
Don't really get the question.

School Uniforms?
Somehow against. I don't think that school should be allowed to force people to wear a particular attire. On the other hand, it could help a lot of the pressure on children, and remove most of the social difference between them.
I would vote against, but without passion, and would accept without problems a result opposed to my opinions.

Drinking Age of 21?
If you can vote, be enlisted (hence possibly kill or be killed) and drive at 18, it's utterly ridiculous you can't drink.

Immigration?
Heavily depends of the ponctual situation. Regulation is, and should be, normal.

The War on Terror?
A delirium from a fascist-like leader that is bringing chaos and defiance on the world stage.

The Country's Current Leadership?
The right is actually wrecking away the country with a rabid liberal (in the european sense, read : capitalistic) frenzy without planning nor long-term thinking. I hope they get kicked out in 2007.

Voting?
Is this a serious question ? Who would be AGAINST voting ?

Saddam Hussein?
A bastard, whose demise is at least one good thing that came out of the War on Terror.

Osama Bin Laden?
Another bastard, who I'm impatient to see killed/imprisoned.

Euthanasia?
For. The ultimate right for someone free is the right to die.

Assisted Suicide?
Isn't it euthanasia as above ?

Suicide?
Most of the time, it's a stupid decision. So if you can, prevent it. But don't legislate on it. If the person is really willing to die, then it's his right.

Self-Mutilation?
It's stupid.

Mental Illness?
Makes me very uncomfortable, but I understand that it does exist, and many people need help about it.

Eating Disorders?
It's a common psychological trouble. What position is there to take here ?

Addiction - A Choice or a Disease?
It depends of the case. The line between lack of willpower and mental illness is a very large, very grey, area.

Three Strikes Law?
Don't know what it is.

You Choose...

Bush or Kerry?

Not Bush. That leaves Kerry I guess.

Republican or Democrat?
Possibly left of Democrats, which mean certainly not Republicans.

Cheney or Edwards?
I don't know them, but I doubt you can be worse than Cheney, so...

Rehabilitation or Imprisionment/Punishment?
Both. They aren't mutually exclusive, and they both serve the concept of justice.

Marijuana - Legal or Illegal?
Already asked, already answered.

Adoption or Abortion?
Let the mother choose. I would rather chose abortion myself.

Life or Death?
What's the question ?

Gay Marriage or Civil Unions?
Civil unions.

Gay Marriage or Nothing?
Gay marriage.

Civil Unions or Nothing?
Civil unions.

Segregation or Intergration?
Is this really a serious question ?

Yes Or No...

Is our economy really on the mend?

It's not good, but it's still one of the most powerful of the world. We'll see.

Do homosexuals deserve equal rights under the law?
Of course. They are humans, just like everyone else. Someone who would segregate would really be either a cretin, either a fascist.

Is banning gay marriage legalizing discrimination?
Not necessarily. Depends of the definition of marriage.

Do we have a right to be in Iraq?
No. At best, some bits of legitimacy.

Did we enter Iraq for the right reasons?
Certainly not.

Do you think there are weapons of mass destruction?
Don't think so.

Do you feel 9/11 could have been prevented by better leadership?
I doubt it, but perhaps.

Questions

Who do you think is the bigger threat - Hussien or Bin Laden?

Ben Laden - Hussein was powerless except on his own people.

Who do you feel is the best leader for our country?
I was very impressed by the record of Jospin as a prime minister. I don't see any other in the actual political area that can reach his level.

Would you support a legalized draft?
No, but I admit it's perhaps just out of self-interest.

What country is the biggest threat to our way of life?
Potentially, it's probably China.
Metaphorically, as it's not a country, I'm very defiant of Middle-East.
In practice, the USA is the only one that can actually threaten in any way our way of life.

Should we work to get international support, or continue on our own?
International support means that you respect others and take their opinions into account. It's the basis of international diplomacy, and it's the closest thing to democracy we can have on the world stage for now. So of course everybody should seek it.

Does freedom of speech include ideas that you do not support?
Yes, as long as these ideas respect human dignity.

Is racial discrimination still a problem in our country?
Racial discrimination is a problem is most countries. I would say it's not too bad in mine, but worse than in many others. We aren't a role-model yet.

Is gender discrimination still a problem in our country?
There is still some residual macho thinking in large parts of the population, particularly the higher you go in the power/social ranks, but it's quickly changing, and overall it's not so bad.

Is sexual discrimination a problem in our country?
Not in laws, and it's widely accepted in youth, where there is not many people who are shocked by homosexuality anymore. But older people still have a larger part of them that discriminate, and homosexuality is still the source of many insults.

Is ethnic discrimination a problem in our country?
Not in laws, but racism still exists in individuals.

Is religious discrimination a problem in our country?
No. Laws make clear that religion is a personnal thing that has nothing to do with the state, and this concept is firmly rooted in our very culture. Most of the religious folks themselves support this situation.

Do you believe force, or peacemaking efforts, are needed to protect us?
Sometimes, in some cases, yes.

Protecting natural resources or industrys that use them - which is better?
Natural ressources, of course. Industries are private interests that look only for money. They aren't the one who needs protection.

Do vote according to party or according to politician's stances and policy
We usually don't vote for individual politicians, but for a party, so this question isn't really accurate for us.

If you could say one thing to our current leader, what would it be?[/QUOTE]
Crook.

in an effort to understand people better and get your thoughts and opinions I figured I'd post this list of questions. Keep in mind this was written by an american so when it says our country feel free to post about both your nation and the US. and I request that everyone answer the survey before you discuss other peoples opinions.

If you could say one thing to your current leader, what would it be?
****

How Do I Feel About...

Religion?
I despise it in todays form. We know it is all BS, opiate for the people, a refuge for those who can't bear reality or are too lazy to think.
What surprises me is how mnay smart people have such strong ties to it from thei upbringing that they have a really hard time going without it.

Abortion?
If the mother is in danger - any time.
If not - early term is a matter of informed choice.

Welfare?
Within limits. Those who can't work despite serious trying should get it.
Also, welfare should level the playing field for disabled people and in education.

Affirmative Action?
A foreign concept to me, somewhat.......
Basically, it is a good thing, but that a scoiety needs it

The Death Penalty?
All for it - if you can make sure you NEVER EVER err. As that is impossible I am against it.

Gay Marriage?
Go! Ok to appease the religious fanatics, call ti a civil union, but we have no right whatsoever to deny ordinary people the same tax cuts etc. just because they have a different sexuality (whcih, btw, is in no way ab-normal or un-natural).

Gay Adoption?
Adoption should under any circumstances be strictly controlled - to avoid nutcases adopting kids. Same is true for gay adoption - if the parents are mentally sane and 'normal' they should be allowed to adopt.

Hate Crimes?
depends on the case.

Education?
Should be afffordable for all. Free and financed throguh taxes (with mecahnisms to stop waste) would be best.

The Environment?
We f-ed it up, we should tread carefully. You can't stop change, but it is utterly idiotic to perform uncheck experiments on an unprecedented scale with a system you have no real clue of how it works.

Animal Testing?
What must be done, must be done. But not for lipstick.

AIDS?
glad I don't have it. hate the pope for promoting it. and hope the reverse transcriptase approach gives us a cure.

School Vouchers?
what is that?

School Prayer?
Only over my dead body - at least in any school my (future) kids will go to.

"One Nation, Under God"?
One nation, no god.

Drug Legalization?
depends on a LOT of factors. Basically, we shoudl rather find ways to get rid of all of them, even the legal ones, whenever they are dangerous.

Prostitution Legalization?
Yes! it is legal here, and finally prostitues can even sue for their money!

Legalized Gambling?
in limit - strict ones!

Age of Consent?
a sensible way of handling it, similar to the german system (with varying ages for sex and amrriage depending on BOTH partners relative age to each other). Above 21 adults should not be allowed to have sex with kids under 16 ever.

Premarital Sex?
yes, please!

Single Parenthood?
not a great thing, but it is a direct result of many other trends in our societies. We should see to it that kids with only one parent are not at an automatic disadvantage.

School Uniforms?
starting to like that idea.

Drinking Age of 21?
ridiculous!
drinking age lower than driving age makes a lot of sense. Can't be done in rural palces (much of the US) and places with suck public tranpostation. Here, a low drinking age for 'soft' stuff with a lot of parentla control sounds better than 21.

Immigration?
I won#t give a two sentence answe to something so complex

The War on Terror?
the terror or war?
as above.

The Country's Current Leadership?
US: pity. a desaster
Germany: pity. the least of possible evils.

Voting?
yes, always. but to be honest about 50% of our population are too stupid.

Saddam Hussein?
no special feeling, just a generic hate of murderers and dictators.

Osama Bin Laden?
as there are kids on this forum I will not describe what I want to do to him.

Euthanasia?
a very cautious yes under very special circumstances.

Assisted Suicide?
a clear yes - under certain circumstances

Suicide?
poor bastards. Would like to hit those responsible (as mostly it is parents who fail!)

Self-Mutilation?
poor bastards. Would like to hit those responsible (as mostly it is parents who fail!)

Mental Illness?
much more common than most realize. Would like to hit those responsible (as often it is parents who induce or worsen it!)

Eating Disorders?
oh come on! usually a form of mental illness

Addiction - A Choice or a Disease?
brain malfunction, usually.
I blame those who wlak in knowing the dangers, and pity those who slip in blindly.

Three Strikes Law?
in soft versions they sound good. But that's only for the US and the typical absurd case-law stuff.
Germany doesn't need them, just a saner application of existing laws.

You Choose...

Bush or Kerry? - Kerry

Republican or Democrat? - Greens

Cheney or Edwards? - Edwards

Rehabilitation or Imprisionment/Punishment? - both

Marijuana - Legal or Illegal? - legal - above 35 years of age (and no, i am not nuts, there's a scientific reason for this)

Adoption or Abortion? - both

Life or Death? - life, there's still so much to see ;)

Gay Marriage or Civil Unions? - CUs, as gay marriage will not be possible with so many intolerant religious nuts around.

Gay Marriage or Nothing? - GM

Civil Unions or Nothing? - CUs

Segregation or Intergration? - Intergration!

Yes Or No...

Is our economy really on the mend? - No, deficit will kill it

Do homosexuals deserve equal rights under the law? - Yes

Is banning gay marriage legalizing discrimination? - Yes

Do you think there are weapons of mass destruction? - no

Do you feel 9/11 could have been prevented by better leadership? - not in the last 25 years

Questions

Who do you think is the bigger threat - Hussien or Bin Laden? - Bin laden, by an order of magnitude

Who do you feel is the best leader for our country? - anyone with no party connections.

Would you support a legalized draft? - no

What country is the biggest threat to our way of life? - no country is a threat

Should we work to get international support, or continue on our own? - always international, todays problems are all global

Does freedom of speech include ideas that you do not support? - sure thing

Is racial discrimination still a problem in our country? - yes

Is gender discrimination still a problem in our country? - yes, a bit

Is sexual discrimination a problem in our country? - rarely

Is ethnic discrimination a problem in our country? - yes

Is religious discrimination a problem in our country? - yes, non-Christians of any and no denomainations are being discriminated against

Do you believe force, or peacemaking efforts, are needed to protect us? - yes

Protecting natural resources or industrys that use them - which is better? - the indsutries do not need protection

Do vote according to party or according to politician's stances and policy - the latter

If you could say one thing to our current leader, what would it be? - censored

Just thought I'd mention- this is the longest thread ever.

How Do You Feel About...

Religion?

I am against religion, and wish to discourage it, and to eventually dilute it with Western commercialism to the point where religion is a joke/marketing tool and will no longer limit people's freedom.

Abortion?
They're not sentient- they have no rights.

Welfare?
To those who need it, particularly as far as funding poor children's education.

Affirmative Action?
As far as I can tell, it advocates hand-outs to token people according to ethnicity. Best kill it.

The Death Penalty?
Murderers deserve nothing else. Life imprisonment is a sick joke.

Gay Marriage?
I am against religion, so I intend to let gays marry, if only because religion forbids it. I am very anti-marriage, and so wish to destroy the institution. I also support marrying pets.

Gay Adoption?
Why not?

Hate Crimes?
Treat them the same as normal crimes.

Education?
Forcing children to attend school is deeply against my libertarian beliefs. I advocate giving children the choice of whether to attend and do schoolwork. (I am aware this doesn't sound right- I'll elaborate on this if anyone wants, but I don't want to make this post even longer ;))

The Environment?
It's nice. Lots of er... trees and stuff. I have no real position on the struggle between industry and wildlife.

Animal Testing?
Support it. If it ain't sentient, it's free game.

AIDS?
It's nasty. Cure it.

School Vouchers?
Er...?

School Prayer?
Against- I hate religion.

"One Nation, Under God"?
See above.

Drug Legalization?
Legalize it. Long live libertarianism (and taxes too)! If it doesn't hurt anyone against their will, it's fine.

Prostitution Legalization?
Legalize it. See above.

Legalized Gambling?
Legalize it. See above.

Age of Consent?
Get rid of it. See above.

Premarital Sex?
Legalize it. See (you guessed it) above. The government in no business in it's people's bedrooms.

Single Parenthood?
Fine.

School Uniforms?
Ugh. Get rid of them.

Drinking Age of 21?
Get rid of it.

Immigration?
Encourage it.

The War on Terror?
A farce. There is no terror threat.

The Country's Current Leadership?
(Assuming you mean the US), don't like it. Not as if the alternative's any better though.

Voting?
Your vote is worthless. Not worth the effort.

Saddam Hussein?
Evil maniac. Kill the bugger.

Osama Bin Laden?
See above.

Euthanasia?
In favour.

Assisted Suicide?
If they want to die, why not help them?

Suicide?
If someone's that demented, death's probably for the best.

Self-Mutilation?
See above.

Mental Illness?
I don't support giving mental people any special treatment if they commit crimes.

Eating Disorders?
I like food.

Addiction - A Choice or a Disease?
Choice.

Three Strikes Law?
Er....?

You Choose...

Bush or Kerry?
Kerry, by a non-existent margin.

Republican or Democrat?
See above.

Cheney or Edwards?
Edwards.

Rehabilitation or Imprisionment/Punishment?
Punishment.

Marijuana - Legal or Illegal?
Legal.

Adoption or Abortion?
Both.

Life or Death?
Er... life. Obviously.

Gay Marriage or Civil Unions?
Marriage.

Gay Marriage or Nothing?
Marriage.

Civil Unions or Nothing?
Civil Unions.

Segregation or Intergration?
Integration, obviously.

Yes Or No...

Is our economy really on the mend?
No.

Do homosexuals deserve equal rights under the law?
Yes.

Is banning gay marriage legalizing discrimination?
Yes.

Do we have a right to be in Iraq?
No.

Did we enter Iraq for the right reasons?
No.

Do you think there are weapons of mass destruction?
No.

Do you feel 9/11 could have been prevented by better leadership?
No.

Who do you think is the bigger threat - Hussien or Bin Laden?
No threat from either.

Who do you feel is the best leader for our country?
Me.

Would you support a legalized draft?
No.

What country is the biggest threat to our way of life?
The US.

Should we work to get international support, or continue on our own?
International support.

Does freedom of speech include ideas that you do not support?
Yes.

Is racial discrimination still a problem in our country?
No.

Is gender discrimination still a problem in our country?
No.

Is sexual discrimination a problem in our country?
No.

Is ethnic discrimination a problem in our country?
Yes.

Is religious discrimination a problem in our country?
Yes.

Do you believe force, or peacemaking efforts, are needed to protect us?
No.

Protecting natural resources or industrys that use them - which is better?
Industries.

Do vote according to party or according to politician's stances and policy
Party.

If you could say one thing to our current leader, what would it be?
Go away.

So, in summary- I'm a Libertarian Socialist who supports pure capitalism, a system where those with the desire to work will be rewarded. I do not believe pure capitalism without many socialist policies is possible, as the poor will need the oppurtunity to succeed as well.

I believe freedom is most important, as such- if something does not harm someone against their will, legalize it. I am against religion- it is essentially self-oppression. I will never force people to leave their religion, but I intend to dilute religion to the point where most people that call themselves christians are free to ignore everything their religion feels is important.

I am vehemently against the current system, where people essentially are deprived of any freedoms whatsoever until they are 16/18, in the name of "protecting them".
Not tat it matters, because this thread is so big no-one will ever read this. ;)

Somehow, I missed some questions, so I'll answer them here.

Gay Marriage or Civil Unions?
Semantics.

Gay Marriage or Nothing?
Gay Marriage

Civil Unions or Nothing?
Civil unions.

Segregation or Integration?
Integration, of course. We don't live in the 50's (except for rmsharpe, apparently).

Yes Or No...

Is our economy really on the mend?
I'm not sure.

Do homosexuals deserve equal rights under the law?
Yes.

Is banning gay marriage legalizing discrimination?
Essentially.

Edit: Do we have a right to be in Iraq
Since they were not a threat to our security, no.

@rmsharpe: Would you mind explaining why you are for segregation (assuming it is regarding race).

How Do You Feel About...

Religion?
Bad, as it encourages excluding people of different religions and discourages rational thought.

Abortion?
Should be legal as long as it is performed during the time period before the babie's brain activates (as almost all abortions not performed for medical reasons are).

Welfare?
No country can call itself civilized if it leaves its poor in the dirt.

Affirmative Action?
Bad in principle, but as long as signficant racial inequality persists, probably neccessary.

The Death Penalty?
No. Life imprisonment is a harsh enough sentance, and lets victims of miscarriages of justice be freed.

Gay Marriage?
If marriage is to be endorsed by the state, then it is pure bigotry to restrict it to only heterosexuals.

Gay Adoption?
Why not?

Hate Crimes?
Are bad. But laws specifically against hate crimes (as it is already illegal to beat someone up or klll them) are potentially very dangerous to free speech.

Education?
Is far too exam-focused, at least in England and the United States. I'm not sure how this problem can be fixed.

The Environment?
Needs to be protected, both for the sake of our descendants, and for the reason we don't burn Remrandts for fuel: preserving art.

Animal Testing?
Is necessary.

AIDS?
Is encouraged by the Catholic church and several African governments denying that it can stopped from spreading by condoms.

School Vouchers?
Syphon money away from public schools and into private schools. Also, they allow state funding of religious indoctrination.

School Prayer?
It is completely wrong for schools to enforce prayer or encourage it.

"One Nation, Under God"?
Athiests (and polytheists ) are citizens too, you know. And anyone who thinks this doesn't mean the christian god is deluding themselves. And 'ceremonial deism' would be more believable if this didn't come in in the 1950's in an effort to distinguish us from the godless commies.

Drug Legalization?
We let people smoke and drink, why shouldn't other drugs be legal?

Prostitution Legalization?
Yes.

Legalized Gambling?
Yes.

Age of Consent?
16 is about right.

Premarital Sex?
Why not?

Single Parenthood?
Up to the parent.

School Uniforms?
Pointless, and encourage conformism.

Drinking Age of 21?
Dumb. Alcohol is much less dangerous than cigarettes, and banning under 21s from having it will not stop them drinking (though it will make them more likely to drink irresponsibly).

Immigration?
Is an easy scapegoat for the government's and people's failings.

The War on Terror?
Vote for me, we're at 'war'![

The Country's Current Leadership?
Incompetent, and a danger to our freedoms.

Voting?
Every person's civic duty.

Saddam Hussein?
A bastard, but not worth killing tens of thousand of Iraqis and alienating the world to get rid of.

Osama Bin Laden?
Less of a threat than he's made out to be, but still worth catching (without starting another war, please).

Euthanasia?
People should be allowed to make their own decisions over whether to die or not.

Assisted Suicide?
See above.

Suicide?
See above.

Self-Mutilation?

@rmsharpe: Would you mind explaining why you are for segregation (assuming it is regarding race).
It was the lesser of two evils. I'm for desegregation, but not explicit integration. Look at busing, kids were being shuffled around into dangerous neighborhoods all at the expense of "racial harmony."

Also, minorities should assimilate into the majority culture and not reject it as it's happening in the Netherlands. Do you want sharia law recognized in the United States?

P.S., I don't appreciate you taking cheap shots at not just me, but everyone who was living in the 50s. If it weren't for people alive then, we wouldn't have the luxuries we have today.

Integration does not mean forced integration. Furthermore, shouldn't integration be consistent with immigrant assimilation?

In response to the post script, what the hell are you talking about? First of all, it wasn't a cheap shot, I was seeing if you had a reasonable justification to your postition (which it is not, as the lesser of two evils would be integration, even in your view, since you are obviously in favor of assimilation). Second of all, how is recognizing that few people since the 1950s are in favor of segregation?

you are referring to forced integration I take it.

Well, simple answer: some integration was forced as there was no other way to break the mental block, especially in the south.

now find me a case where whites were hurt in black neighbourhood because of being 'trucked' there.

and yes, minorities like blacks in the US should simply stop being black, right now, ro where would that otherwise lead to

I vote based on hair

If you could say one thing to our current leader, what would it be?
Pretzel?

I don't understand, rmsharpe, how you say we should limit government control on our lives, and then go on to say you want marijuana to be illegal. Marijuana smoking isn't a threat to non-marijuana smokers (if taxed heavily might even be a help), so why outlaw it?

Same principle extends to all drugs.

I told you, I'm for desegregation. Integration means busing, quotas, and low expectations.

Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles...are these model cities? They're disasters, and why? Because of these kinds of social policies that excuse bad behavior.
