Like we have learn from eighties movies there are basically two possible futures: One with shiny flying cars everywhere and another one with dusty recycled cars short on fuel everywhere. As long as we keep our normal cars we will be bogged down in the present.

that can be cruel, it is a common knowledge fat boy being bullied by other non fat kids by calling him "fat fat fat", and I guess that one reason that make him even more fat.

I thought the future of this worlds with freedom of speech and expression been use in the wrong ways maybe result the increase verbal bullying that hide behind the cover of freedom of speech, with the combination of technology and ability to be anonymous the amount and quality of being bully will so increase both in quality and quantity.

I'm not talking about you Borachio, generally you seem like a nice person, even though calling fat people fat not a nice things to do, but I talking about society in general.

Considering that many people have (very negative) memes of their pics, well, bullying has reached new levels.

And that is only a small part of it :\

I think that it would be a lot better when/if there are no tv/radio media outside of the web. They don't really have a place anymore (in my view), and i am sure that when they are only web-based it will be evident that most of those bad programs aren't followed by the vast majority of the public anyway.

Then again some large "news" websites are just crap too (eg yahoo, which is a tabloid by now, and has been for many many years).

Little bit out of topic. I never actually watch tv for years, and when I invite one of my friend to my house he and his wife quite surprise that we don't actually have tv. Because I found tv not only boring but it have non or even negative input. I prefer to select the things that I want to watch by watching the movie I like to watch or documentary that I prefer to watch for example.

I thought the era of tv also will be over, youtube will be kind like a future tv, and I thought in the future there maybe less core in the media, as internet also support many of the non mainstream media or show to be flourish and have their income. As with radio it already pretty much nearly non existence. But the ability on selecting the channel that you can watch it doesn't mean it can reduce someone to be inspire by violent material that can use for further bullying their target, maybe it can even get worse they just always chose to watch over that subject, like a comentator who like to demonstrate misogyny joke and other things, I really don't like a joke with a victim, that mean in order to make a joke they need someone to be victimize so everyone can laugh. That also another shape of bullying.

You're right. I got rid of my TV simply because it annoyed the heck out of me. But it's been a real relief to get away from the incessant advertizing on it, too.

I occasionally see it at friends' and relatives' houses, and it's not long before I start to feel like my brain is being slowly squeezed into a shape I wouldn't be happy with.

There's the real bully right there. In the corner of 95% of homes, if not 95% of rooms by now.
