Zero tolerance on piracy. Posting links to warez sites, program cracks, and manuals are not allowed in the forum. Anyone found guilty of participating in piracy activity in the forum will be banned.

Are You Allowed To PM a link and/or instructions how to find and download stuff?

Are You Allowed To PM someone and ask his Email Adress or To ask to Meet Him on an other site's Forum/Chatroom
PM example: if you give me your email we can give you instructions on how to aquire that program you seek without having to pay a dime.

@Zulu: True, that's not illegal, per se (and if anyone tries to tell me I'm not allowed to make a "fair use" backup of my CDs, they're in for an argument), but posting the instructions here would be tantamount to piracy, because if you can make one back-up, you can make many ....

Making the backup for one's self MAY be allowed, but posting instructions on how to bypass the security, even for that purpose, is prohibited by the DMCA. No such posting is allowed here.

I'm just curious about the security and privacy of Private Messages. Who has access to our PMs besides us?

I realize that if the site came under scrutiny, that it may have to yield the information contained in PMs, but unless you guys go through each person's PM, you couldn't possibly police such use. You have to hold the users responsible to not use the PM system for illegal activity (or at least if they do, that they're smart enough to delete the messages).

How liable is the site for such a scenario?

The moderators have no way to access them. I believe the admin may be able to either access your password (or at least change it) and with the password in hand, he could then access the PMs.

This makes an interesting dilemma. What about music programs like Kazaa? I haven't seen any links lately, but I've seen alot of mentions of them...

well i got both the game and expansion legally when they were released , when i asked this question i had in mind more the programs you can use to customize Civ III , like 3d Studio Max , programs that cost over $1200 and thus impossible to get unless you use it for your job/school.

IMO that is still illegal: using Studio Max without paying for it. It's common theft

Normall ,i download almost every game or software that i have of the internet with file sharing program's.But not to always use them cracked ,rather to test them before i would buy the game.If i find a program or game worth i ,then i buy it ,because i want to be able to patch it then ,or play it in mp ,or get regular updates and to sponsor the creator's.That come's down to about ten software package's a year for me.But if i would buy anything that i test ,then i would have to buy the tenfold of that ,and that would be very costly.

There are enough bad game's and bad program's comming out ,reason enough to test it first.Most of the time from program's its trialware though.But i don't use demo's ,i test the full version's of game's.

But i don't agree with people that like a program /game very much but use it cracked for about 2 years withought buying it.

im in no way suggesting that its not illegal , i was just asking myself is sending a PM about a program would get you punished by the Mods in the same way as posting links to a Hacked Civ3 ro other games warez.

well i do pratically the same , if i think that te developers deserve the Money , then i buy the game , what is also a problem is that most warez games are some time months before the release in my country already avariable for download.

I have Diet Kazaa Lite myself, no spyware at all. Its great!
The government will never great rid of Piracy, or P2P networks...and thank god for that!

I don't know if kazaa lite is to trust either.I installed it once and ran a spyware check right after it and it found stuff ,not that bad like the normal kazaa but still.
