ZPNESVI Discussion Thread (Nesse)

Stats are a bit more updated now. Next job is PM's and some more stats/comparisons for the main settlements and armies.

I was thinking of joining this game, but it seems to have been going for quite a while and I don't know what's going on. Can somebody fill me in please?

(Sorry if I'm accidentally acting like my namesake...)

Read the first page of the main thread, then read the updates.
EDIT: The links to the update posts are posted in one of Daftpanzer's first posts.

Apologies if this sounds annoying, but is that strictly necessary? It might put me at a disadvantage, but I could use a clan backstory which justifies my not knowing anything that's going on.

@TheWesley the city is under siege, the info on the first page together with the last update should be everything you need to know.

In theory that could work, but you will impress us all more if you were to have an idea of what's going on before jumping in. Not to mention that it is an advantage. Lately there have been...issues...with players who NES without really knowing what they're doing.

Yeah like random newbs who join N3S III with Rome ripoffs. I kid I kid.

He's right though. It should only take an hour or two to pore through. An hour well spent for the glory of the fodderland.

Sacred Way

OOC:

If anyone has any Diplo with the Sacred Way, i would like to hear it.

Also, here is some outgoing diplo for shadowbound:

IC

Your church is truly blessed, rich, powerful, and influential and we wonder what your official stance is towards our faith for this stance will no doubt set the tone for the relationship between our followers.

OOC: lol... the fodderland.
IC: The Drezden and many other outlanders are looking for some ideas for cooperation with the Nessers and elites. We want to assist our city-dwelling brothers and sisters, but we are not tacticians, and can't accomplish that task alone. Any input from the other outlander clans would be appreciated.

There are many gods. The Horned King is the guardian of the barrier between life and death, and all that we do is derived from that. We have no quarrel with the followers of Nom-Amur, the furry god, nor with the horse lover Poseidon, or any faiths worshipped by foreigners and outlanders (except for the Sea Kingdom's whale-god, he's a dick). We don't believe we have a reason to treat you differently.

Go kill Kyannur when he comes north.

House Challoan will work with the Drezden.

House Challoan will organize a war council in an undisclosed location [just assume that you know and its well away from the enemy] so that the Outlander clans and other clans outside the city walls can organize our guerrilla efforts.

OOC: @Thlayli: that was such a long time ago...

The Fire Clan, being in command of the armies of Nesse, asks the Challoan why the seem to have taken command of the armies of Nesse. With all due respect, should the War Leader not be the ones directing the war effort against the enemy, not a clan whose basis in in politics?

House Challoan: good point. No one seemed to step up to the plate. So we did.

The women of Tusecksii are ready to do whatever needs to be done to help defend the city. Assign us a task and we promise to get it done!

Indeed. Challoan seems to be getting a little ahead of themselves. If any action is taken by the Nessers to help organize the Outlanders in the defence of their and our homeland, it will be either the Ninticus Clan or the Fire Clan.

Edit: Perhaps the Fire Clan should help direct the Outlanders willing to attack the Cyrians in hit and run attacks, while the Ninticus Clan organizes the defence of farms and other valuable land in the Outlands.

The House of the Horned King wants to repeat its recommendation that you kill the Gatherer-King of the Cyrians, Kyannur, when he comes north.

A letter arrives to the war council from the 'Sacred Way'

While we are not warriors, we worry for the mortal lives of our friends and neighbors amongst both the families of Nesse and the outlands beyond. We know that our council is not requested or required and your commanders no doubt much wiser in war then our holy mystics but do consider:

1) How dry are the plains of the outlands in summer? how frequent is rain? How likely is a well-coordinated plan to start several fires amongst the camps (or upwind of) of the Cyrians likely to backfire and burn Nesse? How likely is it to prevent any foraging by the enemy army whatsoever? How likely is it to stop the reinforcements by sea?

2) It seems that with the Cyrian army besieging the city walls, a coordinated strike by outland and Nesse forces at the Cyrian troops set to meet with the Red Sail at the coast as well as those troops who's job it would be to guard food and weapon laden caravans back to the Cyrian army poses a significant strategic value with little risk. If the cyrians truly wish to protect their coastal forces they will have to reduce the pressure upon Nesse's walls. Either way, you gain an advantage. Furthermore, if you were to sack their caravans and seize their loot you would gain considerable food and consumables to survive the siege.

3) What source of water are available to the besieging army? How secure are they? How easily could your spies and saboteurs ruin them (either through poison or structural damage to wells).

4) Remember the battles you fought with the wolf clan at the southern river. You know that this location could serve to funnel their forces just as yours were once scattered and separated so long ago. Perhaps you could make use of this strategic location.

Good luck.
