took a long hiatus and just got back and started my 1st game in almost 2 years!

I got myself into a mess in this one, started on the same island with zara and said "to hell with it" and rushed swordsman. Everytime i took down one of this city, he spawns another one until he filled up the entire island with his runaways...

my tech path was bizarre:
Mining -> agriculture -> BW -> WHeel -> masonry -> IW -> war:mad:;
after taking down his capitol and 2 other city, i was completely broke but on the upside was able to grab pyramid by immense chopping and thence switched to representation.

during peacetime I was able to go fishing -> sailing -> pottery -> writing -> math -> calendar (had to because there was no one to trade and I was in dire need of commerce and happiness) -> currency -> CoL (Un-necessary) -> AH -> Construction; Whipped out more swords and catapaults and completely took over the island.

Right now I'm planning on going CS for Bureaucracy -> Paper -> Education as my next step; from here I can perhaps tech for a naval war against Joao.

Gonna need some experts' opinion on this

Welcome back CivNoobie.

May your threads generate a lot less drama than before.

I'm no expert, and unfortunately can't look at your saves at the moment but what I will say is if you were going to attack with swords it is typical to tech for construction and go to war after you have some catapults. But if you'll give it some time there's some great players still on the boards who I'm sure would be happy to help.

Playing through NC games and then reading the write ups taught me a lot personally, you should check those out after you finish this game
