Speaking from a programmer perspective again, multicore support is a big achievement for the civ programmers. It'll unavoidably slow down systems with fewer cores, but it has the potential for huge speed improvement on higher end systems. This is a technological achievement. Single threaded programming is easy. Multithreaded is tough. Your PC is too slow? Welcome to PC gaming. Enjoy your stay.

It's also ballsy move. Big risk taking on the part of the developers. So was the Steam Workshop switch. This is the sort of life you want to see if you like the game. It means you have a team of guys actively working the code. They just should have made it an option, like other performance options (Also hard!).

It also sets them (and the niche) up for the future, being able to use advanced technologies to do something remarkable for PC gamers, as oppose to the static consoles or trying to adhere to legacy code and ways of doing things.

Hi all.

I have been reading this thread and didn’t find anyone complain about only load saved games.
My pc is running pretty well, at least compare with the other complaints, my end of turn is quick, I can move units and play a normal game. My problem is I cannot load any post-patch saved game. I got always the error on Sid Meier’s Civilization V has stopped working. Anyone have the same behavior?

Right click on the game in your steam library -> properties -> local files -> verify integrety of game cache.

Let me know if that helped.

Again, you can call it small or big, but it's rather irritating nevertheless. The game seems a bit not screwed tightly for me.

When processing AI turns, I tend to lose control of the mouse if I scrolled around for a bit, and I'll be going round the whole world several times until it's my turn.

Some cities don't show up as dots on the minimap, though the borders do.

Prepatch, battles between AIs had this strange glitch where units actually fought or shot in a location they were not actually at. Eg. longbows seem to be shooting from over 6 tiles away although of course, their actual locations are correct ie. longbows shooting from 3 tiles away. Now I'm getting the same glitch when fighting AIs and I made some horrible formation mistakes as a result.

While I'm thankful to be actually playing when others can't, I certainly hope the people at 2K will not overlook small things like this just because "Oh we have bigger bugs, those houseflies can wait!"

We have another user with the same problem here.
Would be interesting to see if you can load his save (or even better: If anyone can load the save).

In fact the message 1 files fail to validate and will be reacquired appeared but the load game still don't work. Also after that i try to save a new one but the result was the same :(

I will check that and return with the findinds.

Odd...

Can you post the save as The J suggests, to see if we can open it?

I play on multiplayer mostly.

Since the patch the game has gotten pretty bad for me.

I start Ancient era with a settler and warrior. I settle my city but the settler flag doesn't disappear and it still shows that I have the settler selected. I try to click the warrior but it won't un-select the settler even though he has already settled.

So I try to click a tile for my ghost settler to move to and the warrior moves there instead. I select something to build and research and they do not go into effect until I end my turn. I have auto-end turn set up but it won't end until I push "shift+enter".

Eventually the settler disappears and I get to select my warrior but it takes forever to get him to move anywhere.

I'm wondering what I need to do? Should I reinstall?? that might take a while so I hope I don't need to do that. My directX is version 11.

anyone else have the game crash on them? since the patch i have had 1 MP and 2 SP games crash after about 50 or so turns.

rtb: Please check this.

hazelrah: Can you reload the games?

I just saw that fix on the steam forum.. thank you so much. I am actually sitting in the lobby right now waiting for someone to help me test it in multiplayer to see if it works.

Slow turn update:

By 1500 it started getting bad.

By 1700 REALLY BAD.

This is NOT GOOD.

I found by going to strategic view it does speed up the turn rate a bit. Still would like to know in the config file if you can reset the turn time?

The time says 10 seconds what happens if you set it to a lower number?

I think that setting is only used if the game is set to automatically end the turn.

What on Earth did this patch do to gold revenue? Maybe it is just me, but suddenly even the really simply levels (prince and lower) have become more challenging than they used to be. It did something to happiness too. I was playing Rome, militaristic with 15 happiness and +40 gold. Updated the patch and came back on, with -6 happiness and +12 gold.

What's the deal with that?

I'm guessing you build 7 courthouses. Courthouses were overpowered before the patch. Annexed cities with courthouses gave you 3 less  than the cities you founded yourself. They've fixed that. I don't know about the revenue, though.

Same. Longest game I've been able to play has been about 30 turns, give or take. Then a freeze and CTD.

None too pleased.

The aesthetic changes are nice, but I would take a functioning game over pretty layout any day.

Hope they fix it soon.

Just a note when I set quick movmement in the general option screen at the beginning before going into setup game it doesn't carry over into the setup game options but when I set quick combat and than go into the setup game options both quick combat and quick movement is selected.

Is anyone else having this issue? This is a very small bug just don't use the new options in the patch.

Same here. There is also a parameter in UserSettings.ini called SinglePlayerQuickMovementEnabled which doesn't do anything that I can tell. However the parameter SinglePlayerQuickCombatEnabled appears to drive both quick combat and quick movement. So if you set SinglePlayerQuickCombatEnabled = 1 but don't want quick movement you have to go to the in game options under advanced (not the one on the main menu) and turn it off. But that only applies to the next game generated. And in config.ini the parameter called QuickCombat doesn't appear to do anything.
